Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 13, 2011 Abby has to do better than that against a non-fighting euro. He's just not cut out to be a regular scrapper. I think he needs to stick to the offensive part of his game. I don't mind him fighting here and there, but he needs to develop his skills with the puck. newfy 695 Report post Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Abby has to do better than that against a non-fighting euro. Gets jumped, and they go down pretty much immediately, I dont know how its fair to expect much out of him at all in that situation especially against a guy who is 6'4 He's just not cut out to be a regular scrapper. If by regular scrapper you mean 10+ times a season than I agree but the fighting skill is definitely there to be a Dallas Drake type guy. 5 or 6 fights a year while being consistently physical and chipping in some offense is what he should be doing. He has clearly gotten a lot better at fighting the last couple years, he missed 4 years of fighting by going to the NCAA. Hes developing into a solid middle weight type EDIT: Forgot to add, while he had a terrible showing. I was pleasantly surprised to see Kindl fight a big guy like Benn who is known as a solid fighter when he fights. Hes been alot more physical this year to and had a few big hits Edited November 13, 2011 by newfy

Would've liked to see Benn go with Ericsson. Wonder when Commodore gets back in the lineup.

newfy 695 Report post Posted November 13, 2011 I don't think Kindl had much of a choice there. Benn basically jumped him. It didnt look like Kindl had the intention of dropping the gloves but he was skating over to give Benn a little shot for sure

Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 16, 2011 Konopka continues to kick ass. Although kicking Kostopopus' ass isn't a big accomplishment. Also, I'm growing awful tired of fights after good, clean, hard hits. Dorsett forced to answer after a solid hit:
newfy 695 Report post Posted November 16, 2011 We're not last in fighting majors? :carrot: I think the wings might even break 20 fights this year lol With Commie and Smith probably getting some time, Abdelkader showing more willingness and Ericcson being encouraged by Babcock. Bert has also been told to play on the edge way more by Babcock.

I'm not looking for him to fight as much as clearing guys out of the crease and keeping him away from Howard. Although I'd like to see what he can still do in the fighting department. Bertuzzi better be playing physical and stirring things up when he gets back, because he's not good for anything else anymore.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 Trying to ignore the fact that the Wings suck right now, I'm gonna bump this. Outside of Detroit blowing tonight, it was a rather badass evening around the NHL. First: Props to Thorburn for hanging in with him. Next: Again, props to Rosehill for standing in there, but McGrattan is the toughest SOB in the NHL right now.
newfy 695 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 Again, props to Rosehill for standing in there, but McGrattan is the toughest SOB in the NHL right now. Mcgratton is the toughest right now since Macintyre is down in Wiles Barre but with Boogard gone I really dont think anyone is even close to Big Mac. Mcgratton is probably right behind him however. I cant believe Rosehill stood in there that long, without even get his knees buckeled a bit

Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 Bush league stuff by McGrattan celebrating after the fight. That was uncalled for. I'm happy he got penalized for it. No need for that. That being said, he drilled Rosehill. Mcgratton is the toughest right now since Macintyre is down in Wiles Barre but with Boogard gone I really dont think anyone is even close to Big Mac. Mcgratton is probably right behind him however. I cant believe Rosehill stood in there that long, without even get his knees buckeled a bit I'd like to see McGrattan and MacIntyre match up. Orr and Rosehill haven't gotten much time in Toronto's lineup this year. Mike Brown seems to have beat them out.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 22, 2011 Jared Boll is a total gamer. Took on McGrattan the other night. He didn't do well, but add him to the very small list of guys who have the balls ton take him on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omNyV3ldLww&feature=player_detailpage Dorsett continues to rack up the fighting majors:
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 22, 2011 This one will make many Wings fans happy. Barch does a number on Clowe near the end of the game on Saturday. Pretty edgy game.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted December 15, 2011 Carcillo started out well, but Staubitz tied him up well and used his reach to his advantage at the end.

Travis 576 Report post Posted December 21, 2011 Scott absolutely mauled Engelland. He made the man eat his own jersey.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 21, 2011 Scott rarely fights, but I don't think he's lost a fight yet in the NHL. He's a freaking monster. Only guys right now I see beating him are MacIntyre and McGrattan. And even they'd be giving up lots of size to him.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted January 3, 2012 Rounds 1&2 between Darcy Hordichuk and Matt Kassian from a few days ago. You don't see Hordi lose many, but Kassian worked him over pretty well in these two.
