Barrie 900 Report post Posted December 5, 2011 We've won the Western Conference 6 times since 1995, and 4 cups since 1997, I fear nobody in the playoffs! We can beat the Sharks. The last two years we were worn out from 3 straight long playoff runs. We'll be more rested in this year's playoffs. Jimmy's been one of the best goalies in the League so far, and the majority of the current roster has already won the Cup before and made it to the final again the next year. They can do it again. 1 Def Leppard reacted to this

Beating the Sharks in a playoff series with this current team is a definite possibility. However, I'd say it's not likely. The team needs to get a little better at playing against teams like San Jose, to say the least. One way to do that is simply acquiring a forward who can really help them withstand a more playoff style type of game.
jroc86 90 Report post Posted December 6, 2011 San Jose. They are a bigger, faster, meaner younger team that matches our skill depth. We always seem to take it to them, eat a bad bounce, then they get physical - create turnovers and bury goals. We need another horse in the stable to take them out this spring ... Vancouver got over the Chicago humps only because the Hawks lost their 2nd and 3rd lines - San Jose only got better from our last playoff meeting.
LeftWinger 4,963 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 I would say, the way they are playing so inconsistent, the team(s) they fear the most will be any team that doesn't end with the letters ROIT.

wingsfan4795 552 Report post Posted December 11, 2011 I want the wings to draw the sharks in the playoffs next year. To be the best you have to beat the best. Even though the sharks didn't make it to the cup finals the last 2 years they are clearly the most complete team in the west. I think the wings had the right tools to beat them last year and with their revamped defense and solid goaltending this year they should give them a run for their money 1 Def Leppard reacted to this
Red Wings Addict 787 Report post Posted December 11, 2011 The handful of teams still remain the same teams. Unfortunately.

Do you know what Niemi's career playoff save percentage is? It's .904. Last year it was .896. They won 5 straight OT games last year. 5 straight! They have a lousy goaltender and got to the third round because they got the breaks. As soon as the breaks stopped going their way they got crushed. You really need to read beyond the headlines. Yes, they beat us 4 games to 3. All the games they won were by 1 goal and 2 were in OT when they had pucks bounce off of Z's stick. Most complete team in the West? Seriously?
