I went through this with my father (Alzheimer's), and believe me, it isn't easy. It sounds like he's in good hands, but if you have ever been around this kind of disorder, you know that in time, it gets worse. All I can hope for, all we as fans can hope for, is that whatever can be done will be.

You're in our thoughts and hearts, Mr. Hockey.

Ive never had a relationship with a Alzheimers or dementia patient, so I cant relate. I just know what I hear, and that its a horrible disease. Unfortunate for anybody go through.

My Grandmother went through dementia for about 7-8 years before she passed away. I could tell years ago that Gordie was showing signs of it but now I guess it is in full circle. Unfortunately it is only going to get worse from here as this is not a curable disease.

My wishes go out to Mr. Hockey and the Howe family and I know Gordie is a tough SOB who isn't going to go out without a fight.

Few sources saying Gordie has dementia. Surprised this hasnt made it on the site yet.

I read multiple articles about this earlier, and the thing I got from them all was the reason they are going public is to clear the air and state on record that Gordie does NOT have dementia.

Just look at the titles of the links right at the top of this web page:

"Gordie Howe's son says Red WIngs great does NOT have dementia"

"Red Wings legend Gordie Howe NOT suffering from dementia"
