Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted February 22, 2012 Currently, Evgeni Malkin leads the league in points with 73 in just 53 games. Steven Stamkos and Claude Giroux are right behind with 70 points each. Its worth noting that Jason Spezza is having a great year after a few sub-par seasons. Both Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul are having career years in Toronto. John Tavares is on pace for a career year, as well. Ilya Kovalchuk has caught fire lately, with 7 points in his last 5 games. Naturally, the Sedin twins are high up, as well. Notable players not in the race are Corey Perry, Patrick Kane, and Alexander Ovechkin, although Kane and Perry have started to pick up their play, lately. Predictions for the Art Ross winner? GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 22, 2012 The award should have an asterisk next to it, because of "He Who Shall Not be Named" being out all year. But Malkin will likely win it. He's done it before and is the next best scorer in the league.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 22, 2012 Yeah I see Malkin taking it. But just because I'd like to see the streak of different winners continue, I hope Stamkos or Giroux can finish strong and steal it. 1 Z Winged Dangler reacted to this
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted February 22, 2012 I do think Malkin will win it, but its interesting to note that he isn't running away with it as some people in the media or other online forums are implying. He is only up 3 points, and that could change very quickly, or even one small injury and the other guys could catch up. Yes, he has done it in less games, but not SIGNIFICANTLY less games, and Giroux has also missed almost as many as Malkin. Seemed like last year Crosby was way ahead of the next guy in points before he got hurt, but I could be wrong on that.

I think the media may have been talking about Malkin because he has been piling up a lot of points more recently. While he is not blowing Giroux out of the water on ppg overall, I think he has been over the past couple months. Re: last year, highly likely that Crosby would have won by a margin of 30+ points if healthy.

Me too. i'd love for either of those 2 to snag it. anyone that doesn't play for the canucks, pens or sharks can go ahead and take it as far as i'm concerned. pulling for Stamkos primarily though.
