redwingsindiana 1 Report post Posted January 28, 2013 Hello, newbie to this board. After 30 years in MI, I just moved to the Louisville area. No FSD down here, so I am looking at getting NHL Gamecenter Live thru my Apple TV app. Is this good or bad? What about blackouts? I've read there blackout rules, but can't make heads or tails from their explanation. If a game is on FSD does that prevent me from watching on GCL. Thanks, Craig
BottleOfSmoke 5,965 Report post Posted January 28, 2013 (edited) I like GCL. Only nationally televised games are blacked out (and games locally televised in your area), and there are ways around that depending on what browser you use. MidMichSteve 1,115 Report post Posted January 28, 2013 If you have access to Center Ice, you can get it for $50 from most TV providers. Good luck.
Euro_Twins 4,485 Report post Posted January 28, 2013 I like GCL because it is convenient, if it is blacked out I just use an add on that changes my location so I can watch it. (p.s. if anyone knows a good one please pm me, the one I have is kind of slow and i have to watch the games in low quality in order to stream them without lag)

What is this add on you speak of? I am not as internet savvy as I should be

rrasco 1,312 Report post Posted January 28, 2013 Out of market, it's really hard to get all the games in FSD, especially this season. Local and national games will get FSD the ax on your service, and from what I hear, GCL blacks out even more games than GCL. Lots of nationally televised games this year for the Wings. Sometimes NHL Network will pick up the FSD feed though, like on Friday. Of course, there are the methods mentioned above for GCL.
