The Wings wanted a local boy in the draft once and got some scrawny Canadian kid instead. I think that worked out pretty good.

Where a player is from is and should always be a secondary consideration. When you take locality over talent, you're going to be disappointed every time. Look at the Pistons and Lions Remember Mateen Cleaves? Charles Rogers? Drew Stanton? All were drafted because they were local guys when better players were available. I don't want the Wings to do that.
