town123 235 Report post Posted October 11, 2023 I know the 2024 draft is a long ways off, however I need some clarification regarding the DCat deal If we ended up 9th and the Bruins ended up 10th from the bottom, how does the Sens trade work? Would we have the option to either give the Sens our 9th and keep the 2025 Bruins pick or vice versa, give the Sens the Bruins 2025 pick? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

In the event the Bruins' 2024 1st round selection is a top-10 pick, Boston can retain the pick and transfer their 2025 1st round pick instead. Detroit will then have the option of sending Boston's 2025 unprotected 1st or their own 2024 1st to Ottawa. If the Wings and Boston both miss the playoffs, it'll be dicey! If they get a top 10, Boston keeps it and transfers their 2025 pick to us, it's going to be tough to decide whether or not to send them our pick for 24 or Boston's 25 because who knows which one will be closer to #1. My guess is, and prediction is, Boston makes this years playoff, we keep and send the 24 pick to Ottawa unless we also make the playoffs as a higher seed. Then we'll send ours to them. If we make the playoffs and Boston doesn't, no matter what Boston chooses (if it's top 10) I believe we send our 24 pick, because the 25 pick will be unprotected and if Boston continues a slide, we could get some lottery luck with that! But I am confident, Boston is going to make this years playoffs ahead of us, and their 24 pick will be going to Ottawa. You also have to remember, it's Boston's choice whether they keep the 24 pick and give us the 25. IF they get a #10OA pick, they could still opt to let Detroit keep it if they feel they'd even get a better pick in 25. (which means if they do get a top 10 pick in 24, they could sell, sell, sell over the summer and actively tank for an even better pick in 25.) Which would mean, we'd have to choose to give them a top 10 pick no matter what in the 24 draft. I'd take our pick right now, and trade it to them outright for Shane Pinto, because they are in no way going to be able to afford to sign him.
