I won't feel comfortable until the Wings open up a 4 goal lead

Just got back and settled from game 7. I was anticipating an amazing game and I was not disappointed. Every single game could have gone either way in this series. The Wings could easily have won all 7. The Sharks could have won all 7 too, though they were completely outplayed by the wings in game 6 (Nemo almost stole it). I mentioned it in the Dats thread, but every time Dats had the puck I had fear hit my right in the gut. He is the best player in the world in my mind and it's not even close. You guys are very lucky to have him on your team and to get to watch him play on a regular basis. He is simply amazing. It's as if he's a college senior playing ice hockey against a bunch of 5th graders...that's seriously what it looks like to me when he's on the ice. Be proud of your team and your organization Wings fans. 20 consecutive playoff appearances, incredible talent and heart, and of course all the Cups. They are the model NHL franchise. I know many of you wouldn't consider the Sharks as a rival, but for us Sharks fans, the Wings are rival 1A (with the ducks being 1B). We've met you in the playoffs 5 times, more than any other team (I'm just going on memory here). It's no secret our team and franchise have taken a lot from your playbook and you guys have been where we hope to go. I know many have a hatred for my team and I understand that and am ok with it. I know the Wings will be back next year, because they always are. Best of luck next season (except against my Sharks of course). I always enjoy visiting these boards as they are always active and have a ton of topics to discuss. Again, all the best.

You people with your Datsyuk vs. Zetterberg stuff  . I consider myself more of a Zetterberg fan over Datsyuk, but a few years ago told myself not to pick sides, I don't want this to turn into another Yzerman vs. Fedorov thing like we had in the 1990's.

They're both on our team, and both are awesome!

I am so tired of the refs having it out for us just because we ave shown that no one, and I mean NO ONE is even close. We have won almost 1/3 of all Stanleys over the past 14 years!
This series should have been over in 4 or, at most, 5 games but for the refs calling ridiculous penalties against us and letting the Sharks get away with murder. No matter what anyone says, the Sharks are, and always will be, chokers. But for whomever paid off the refs, the Sharks would now be off ordering lattes or whatever it is they do in Panty Hose A.

Great series, much respect to you guys and your team. You guys showed a s*** ton of heart and resiliency, something I hope my team can learn from these last few games. Hold your heads high. I have no doubt (barring a collapse on our end) that we'll see you around this time next year.

As I feared, Pavel and Hank have been quiet in this period.

Just running out of gas.

Maybe not. :hehe: I may be a good luck charm.

This is why Red Wings fans have the rep they have. You sound like the French: "We have a great culture, you culture-less americans! We were great when you didn't exist! Bah! You beat us, but we were more stylish! We are the real winners!"

Red wings fans are the "France" of the NHL it seems :/ Why can't you just admit you got beaten by a better team two years in a row?

Thank you, original poster. At least you show that some red wings fans are classy.

Dude, Red Wings message board, what do you expect?

See this is why I wasn't to happy our board and the Sharks board tired to be friends before the start of the series and encouraged each other to post on each other's boards. Sure there's classy people who came over for the series, but it opens it up for stuff like this.

Not my decisions, so whatever.

I hope the Canucks roll the Sharks like the Hawks did last year.

Nothing would delight me more than to see Thornton miss out on another shot at the cup.

I hate to say it, but I think this is San Jose's year. We had problems at times generating offense against them because of their size. With the way the Sedin's are playing, I don't think Vancouver has a chance.

First of all -- it's very difficult to take someone seriously who just signed up on this forum the day after the Wings were eliminated from the playoffs and who is now bashing Wings fans.

Secondly, you made a serious mistake by generalizing. I'm not a Wings fan but I know enough of them that I consider them to be among the best in the NHL. While your point did have merit and the parallel you drew was a decent one, it applied to the guy you quoted, not the general populace.

Thirdly, generalizing like that and expecting Wings fans to be all warm and cuddly and respectful is a losing proposition. You will reap what you sow -- but on your first day here you've planted nothing but a big crop of turds.

Also, if we got the past the sharks we would win the cup. Sharks just beat our asses down low and can not do ANYTHING else, teams like vancouver could not handle a never say die detroit redwings team. And who ever is coming out of the east sure as hell wouldn't. Sharks are bastards, just like the ducks were a couple of years ago. Datsyuk and zettz were clicking as well, we were starting to fire on all cylinders, with an amazing goalie. (playing out of his mind). So to congralulate the sharks is basically eating their s***. I don't like to eat s***, and neither should you. f*** hudlers, babcock and holland need to learn to not have ANY f*** ups on the team. Get rid of hudler and get a solid player, that just fits, plays hard, and doesn't do anything stupid. I rather a player like that get 0 goals and work hard than hudler making every wrong decision.

f*** the sharks, f*** thorton, f*** couture, f*** all them *****. We are the stanley cup champions, the premiere franchise in all of sports, we tell other teams to get on their knees for us, NOT the other way around. The sharks will always eat s***, for now and forever. The canuck are garbage, f*** em to, i hope an eastern conference team wins it.

congratulation to the Sharks, who at the end of the day were the better team, with as close margin as can get.

and I sure as hell want them to eliminate the Canucks...

great series, too bad our Wings couldn't advance...

Just as the octopus in the depths of the Indian ocean off the coast of Indonesia cowers in fear whenever it sees the mighty shark, so too will the Wings be unable to muster up the courage to play an effective game against the juggernaut San Jose franchise.

#2164583 Reasons why Wings are down 0-2

Posted by Nightfall on 03 May 2011 - 08:39 AM

The Wings are down 0-2 because the Sharks are playing better.

/thread

Seriously though, look at the stats. People like blaming the reffing and diving by San Jose, but the stats don't lie. The puck possession, shots, scoring chances, and offensive zone possession are all owned by the Sharks. Sure, the Wings get chances, but the Sharks are getting almost double what the Wings are getting. Our "weak link" was always thought to be Howard. Well, Howard has turned in 2 spectacular efforts to keep us in the games and the team in front of him really has not been able to outplay the Sharks team.

Some people will say the Wings are not playing with enough heart. I wouldn't go that far to insult them like that. What I will say is, the Sharks are skating harder and winning the puck battles in the first two games. Can the Wings do that in games 3 and 4? I believe they can. Its quite obvious that the Wings have to play harder because their margin for error is slim.

#2164363 Who's the better coach?

Posted by El_Brian on 02 May 2011 - 04:36 PM

Im a Sharks fan and this thread is making me laugh my ass off.
Babcock and McLellan are two of the best coaches in the NHL.
BOTH OF THEM.

They arent rebuilding coaches, they arent mid level coaches.. they're coaches that use very high caliber talent to get the optimum result.
This has been proven on the RedWings side with a cup *grumble*
and on the Sharks side with the President's Trophy, and from 12th to 2nd this year.. and hopefully more to come.

Im sorry but I find this thread inane. The systems are VERY similar because they both developed them.
The caliber of talent on both sides is VERY similar because of the respect the Sharks/DW have for the Redwings/KH.
Players want to play for both these teams and coaches and over the last 5 years have been the pinnacle of the NHL.

Its more than coaching that wins, its everyone.

Now, all that being said.. atleast your coach can do this..

Those faces.. worth 3-5 wins, and a few whistles a season.
