#2349050 1/29 GDT : Stars 1 at Red Wings 4

Posted by RedWingsDad on 30 January 2013 - 01:38 AM

I said earlier in another thread that Tootoo will become a fan favorite, it's happening people..it's happening!!!!!!

What will cement Tootoo as an all time legend in fans eyes, even if he were to get traded the very next day.... is if he absolutely beat the snot out of Weber the first game we play the Preds. Someone needs to.

That is a fantastic looking GDT..well done.

I'm going with 4-2 Wings every game until I get one right and then I can act like a guru.

#2339809 What the Wings are doing for the fans

Posted by 55fan on 13 January 2013 - 03:35 PM

Or have a free skate with the players and signings after maybe?

That would be cool.  Extra signings and appearances and all that.

I don't live near enough to make it happen, but it'd be cool for those who can.

I guess my point (lost in sarcasm and crankyoldladybitchiness) was that the NHL and teams will have to do a heck of a lot to make up for putting us through a lost half a season.  At this point, pretty much anything short of a cup has the smack of the "our fans are the greatest- we knew you'd be back" crap they've been spitting at us.

Both the team and the players are going to have to go all out to make up for making us sit here for months and listen to each other pretend like we know what we're talking about without ripping each others' ears off.

You know what I want them to do for the fans?

Win the Cup.

Then let each of us spend a day with it. (Not holding my breath on that one.)

Please no. Let's try to continue not doing anything that resembles the Nashville fan base.

I fear I may lose my mind if people start blowing those damn things at the Joe....

What do you think?

#2329622 Jimmy D Speaks out on Lockout, fined $250k

Posted by 55fan on 21 September 2012 - 02:45 PM

I like it that he spoke honestly. The part about this whole thing being way too complicated for the average Joe to understand was a bit condescending, but maybe I'm over-estimating the average Joe.

I do agree that the owners run the thing, but owners have to take their employees into consideration. If this was the players just demanding more money, I'd be on the owners' side, but this is about the players getting paid what the owners have said they will pay them.

Good read, even if I didn't particularly like what was said. It's nice to hear someone just answering the questions rather than going all PC.

#2326186 2012 Lockout Watch

Posted by RedWingsRox on 20 August 2012 - 11:54 PM

Come to think about it, a lockout wouldn't really bother me because I can't think of anything about this upcoming season that I am looking forward to when it comes to the Wings. This is as good of a year as any.

#2314734 Ryan Suter agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

Posted by CheliFan89 on 04 July 2012 - 01:00 PM

Suter is from Madison, WI which is like 3-4 hours away from the twin cities. I'm glad Parise didn't go to the Pens but I guess those two just hate the idea of ever winning a stanley cup

And now the Wings miss the playoffs for the first time in 21 years. I feel like Holland dropped the ball.

Dropped the ball? Are you serious? He made huge long term offers to both guys, It sounds like Parise was never coming here and Suter made a decision to go elsewhere...how is that dropping the ball? We are not talking about 5 time norris trophy winners or 50 goal scorers here. Very good players Holland made more then fair offers to. It's called free agency for a reason..these guys have a free choice to go where ever they want.

Here comes the panic and doomsaying. We can't possibly succeed as a team now that we missed out on two free agents.

(Thank you Holland for not handcuffing the team with two 13 year contracts that didn't come with a discount in exchange for the absurd term)

#2313374 Still no decision from Suter. Speculation abounds.

Posted by Trapt1307 on 03 July 2012 - 12:31 AM

So has everyone written off Parise now?

Not at all. Remeber when the Wings signed Hossa? They weren't even really discussed as a possibility. Everyone here was hoping for Brian Roston and we ended up with Hossa.

If there's one thing that I've learned over the years it's to never count the Wings out when they're open about the fact that they're going to be aggressive in the FA and trade market.

Nobody really has a friggin clue where these guys are going to sign.

#2308400 Pavel and his girlfriend at the NHL Awards

Posted by SoupSnake on 21 June 2012 - 08:58 AM

I just spent 15 minutes trying to dig up an old thread but couldn't find it anywhere. A few months ago somebody posted something about Pavel and his daughter and somebody posted something speculating that the reason Pavel wasn't playing up to his usual level was because he had gone through a divorce or something like that. Obviously we all love these guys, and we shouldn't spend too much time prying into their personal lives but it really bugged me because Pavel is a great guy and I truly hope he is happy.

Anyway it looks like we can put that rumor to rest because as you can see below, the happy couple was on the red carpet together last night. I'm guessing Mrs. Datsyuk just isn't a big fan of the spotlight and that is why we don't see her too often.

Maybe nobody else cares about this, but I was really happy to see this picture. Like I said, Pavel is a great guy and a hope he has a long life of happiness.

Enjoy, I rarely read a whole lot of articles about anything in-depth these days but this is one is worth taking 10 minutes to look at.
