No dis, just a question...

 

Is there a smart phone app or some program that formats certain replies like this?  I see people post like this now and then is various forums, and am never quite sure.  It is a very bizarre and unnatural style to capitalize the first letter of every word like that.

 

 

 

Yeah and it's frickin annoying.  I wasn't doing it deliberately believe me lol.

 

I just switched to the laptop.  Tried to reply to someone else's and it just deletes the word I just typed every time, so I switched to the laptop lol.

 

Anyways, I said earlier I didn't think the wings were playing all that well.  They were playing alright, holding in there defensively, but offensively what is with this playing way out on the perimeter?  We've seen them start doing that in the playoffs for several years now.  It's like how far can I get away form the goal with the puck?  My God.  Offensively they seemed very slow with decision making, and then nobody really wanted to shoot the puck.  And when somebody finally shot the puck, it was right at Hiller and there were no rebounds.  Unacceptable.  Where was the hunger from game 2? 

I don't know what it is exactly, if I'm just getting older, or if I'm just so sick of being so frustrated with the NHL over the last few years but I'm really starting to care less and less.  And that sucks becuase I love the game of hockey and I love this team.

 

But the NHL continues to be stupid.  I have been a fan for 25 years and I just don't understand what is going on sometimes.  I didn't even know that if no ref called a penalty, they could still call a penalty well after the play is over, and after the refs convene to discuss it.  That is something else to me.  I don't ever recall seeing that.  Redmond I thought was going to have an aneurysm and he was probably right to.

 

I just don't get it, but I am starting to get less and less animated the older I get, or the more years that go by, becuase I'm learning that the NHL is managed by politicians who think they can make things better, and all they do is continue to screw it up.  It's happening in the NFL as well now.  It's all about money, and it's really nothing to do with fans.  It's pretty obvious it's not about the fans when last year I think it was philly and pitt that had the big brawls for 2 games then in game 3 if they looked at each other funny, the refs were calling penalties.  I don't know what fan wasn't on the edge of his seat loving every second of those brawls.  That's part of the game.  WTF is the league brass doing?    People want hits, they want goals, they want fights, and so far we have none of the above.

So.. a scrumb in the net...  franzen and cleary get roughed up... talk s*** afterwards for a fight... and franzen gets the penalty, even though cleary was crosschecked 3 or 4 times...  but beacuse they challenged for a fight apparently, they go to the box???

Same nuttieness of why you can't cross check anywhere on the ice but inf ront of the net you can break your stick over a guy and it's fine.  I will never get that one.

I honestly agree that there is a downside to parity in that having powerhouse teams year after year creates great rivalries, but mostly this sounds like sour grapes.

People may not be very familiar with the Kings because they play on the West coast and don't have creepy identical twins or a drama queen for a goalie, but in terms of star players on the Kings there's several candidates.  Mostly it's just that the team is so young that it's a lot of guys who are very good now that are becoming superstars.

Doughty - great young defenseman, norris trophy nominee and will likely win one very soon. 22 years old.
Kopitar - people are finally now noticing him in spite of three 70+ point seasons and great two way play.  two time all-star. 24 years old.
Richards  - former captain, all star and couple 70+ point seasons.  hits, scores goals, plays the PP and PK and will fight when called upon. 27 years old.
Quick - probably won't but would be a worthy winner of the Vezina this year, and the Hart.  Then there's his playoff run. 26 years old
Brown - maybe not a star, but a captain who hits more than almost anyone in the league, can score goals, play on the PP and kill penalties.  27 years old.

Then think about the Wings winning in 2008.  What stars did they have?

Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg. That's about it.  There's a couple former stars in Hasek and Chelios but they weren't playing most of the playoffs.

More than anything it just sounds like a team won that you didn't know very much about and didn't feel any connection to, so it seems bad for hockey.

It's too bad more people don't get to see the Kings play because they've been a fun team to watch for a few seasons now.  They're young, big, fast, will hit, fight.  And now they're out of the goal scoring slump.

I agree with alot of what you say.  However, I don't think it's sour grapes becuase if a team like Vancouver won the cup, I wouldn't say what i said.  The 2008 wings had more superstars/stars on that team than the Kings.  Maybe Quick is an up and coming superstar, maybe not.  People thought that about Giguere.  Where's he now?

I'm just saying that in general, I don't think it is good for hockey.  Now, if the Kings players go on to turn into super stars, then I can look back and say "ok, it was a super star team in the making".  BUt I just don't think parity works in hockey at all, at least, not with 30 teams and the talent thinned out.

I don't know, I guess I just don't like how the league is changing.  On one hand I like the speed of the game, but on the other, the balanced towards the importance of 3rd and 4th line players is too high in my opinion.  The saying that "you have to have your stars come through for you" is really not accurate anymore.  It's always been about having a solid supporting cast, I just think that the importance of 1st/2nd liners is not as high as it used to be.  I don't know how else to say better what I'm trying to get across.

I was disappointed with the Wings this year, but I had no expectations toward the end of the year when they couldn't win much.

You compare the wings 2008 to LA this year, well I think the Wings had at least one player that is arguably the most exciting player in the league, and that's Datsyuk.  And they have an all time great in Lidstrom on defense.  The rest were not superstars, even Zetterberg I don't consider a superstar.  But at least they had a couple of superstars that made the game a bit exciting.  BUT EVEN THEN, looking at the wings of 2008, the excitement level was far less than the 2002 team, or even watching other high powered teams like the Avalanche back then (I hated them but they were almost a carbon copy of the wings and were unbelievably good).

LA won the cup, but they lose 1 more regular season game and they don't even make the playoffs.  Then we are talking about a completely different team, maybe Vancouver goes on to win the cup.  It's just funny how things work out.  LA could not even come close to making the playoffs next year.  Hell, maybe the wings don't.  I guess I just want to see teams that have high flying offense and aren't primarily composed of grit.  That's boring, and the league ratings say it.

I find it to be a disgrace to the NHL that every team that is loaded with offensive talent is sitting on the sidelines.  

WIth that said, good for LA I guess lol.  They have the best goaltender remaining and they're probably the team going to the finals as the 8th seed, and i would say they will face the Flyers...

If LA's goaltending continues this hot, they'll win the cup.  And I think that's pathetic honestly.  Good for them, but for the NHL that's pathetic.

The average hockey fan can probably only name 1 big name player remaining in the playoffs, and that's Ovechkin.

Since the league decided that if you so much as pass gas in front of a player in the Pitt/Flyers series, you'll be thrown out, I think all the series have become more timid, i.e., boring.  

But, I don't have any ill will toward the Predators, and now that we are out, if they go on to win the cup (although nothing about them strikes me as a cup worthy champion), it would be a great underdog story.  So, my support is with them.

I hate Vancouver, Chicago, Phx, StL, LA, SJ, and the eastern teams are just boring to me (except the flyers/pitt series, but now that one's even turned boring).

I want violence and I want scoring.

In a town where everybody piles on the goalie no matter how good they are, and you want to bring Luongo, a PROVEN HEADCASE to this town?  That's funny.  You cannot win with Luongo.  Last year's vancouver team was STACKED and Luongo cost them, almost single handedly cost them their chicago series.  No way.  He's not a proven goalie, and I can't see any team willing to pay more than 5 mil for him...

We have our number 1 goalie, who doesn't appear to be a headcase thus far.

Don't want Weber?  Are you out of your mind?  Get over the incident, it was so 4 games ago now.  I'd love to have a mean, big, tough, solid defensive player back there like Weber.

Is he not killing penalties right now because of his injury or because of his age/speed?  Becuase, if he's utilized less and less, he has to take a major discount to come back.  The last thing the Wings want to do is pull a Pistons and hold onto players too long.

I love Lidstrom, I am so happy we got to watch him for 20 years, but it's a business and you are a commodity. And when you get used up, we move on.  It's cold and harsh, but it's a fact in sports.  I wouldn't mind him coming back, but he can't be a reason that we can't make the cap because we want to go and get an elite young, fast and talented player.  That would hinder the progress of this team.  I think with every year, he'll slow down rapidly, so it's tough to keep him for 5-7 mil in my view.

At some point we will have to cut the cord.

Yeah, and the league is losing fans in droves...BORING!

On the news they just showed the replay of the game winner...how DUMB did our team look?  My God.  3 players bite hook line and sinker, including the goalie.  And it leaves 2, not 1, but TWO predators wide open all day to put the puck in the gaping net.

Pathetic breakdown.  It's those breakdowns that killed us this series.

What a dejecting feeling.  All this talent and they can't muster more than 1 goal in a must win game.

You have to give the preds all the credit.  All night they were SOLID defensively.  They didn't even need Rinne to stand on his head.  Most of the shots he stopped were easy saves, and we couldn't bury rebounds.  Very very frustrating.

Howard isn't the problem, we can't score more than 1 goal or 2 goals a game.  It's ridiculous.  

I'm frustrated with the complete defensive breakdown on that game winner, where 3 players went for Kline INCLUDING howard.  Howard looked stupid on that play.  But whatever.

I'm tired of hearing the wings 'try to stay positive'.  WIN THE DAMN GAME, stop talking!

Whatever.  We need some size and we need SPEED.  We have all the talent in the world, but we're too slow and the punishment in the playoffs wears us down.

So frustrating

See why do you pass it there when you have CENTER ICE position?  You pass it off to a guy along the boards...at least keep going straight or open the ice up more.  Wings been doing this a lot in the last 3 games.  For god's sake stop playing the game along the boards.

You know what, I want the refs to stay out of it.  I want the games to be high scoring and to have fighting in them.  The more the merrier.  This series without a doubt has been the most exciting playoff series in a long, long time.  The NHL should model itself after this kind of hockey.  Fans would come back to watching it.  The Vancouver/LA game was boring as F*ck...and it ended 1-0.

Nobody wants to watch 1-0, 2-0 games...and the goals that go in are garbage, grinder goals.  The super star players in the league are getting shut down and mucked up by this crap playoff hockey and it's 3rd/4th line garbage goals winning games.

The league doesn't get it.  AT ALL.  

The players did fine policing themselves, but now with the meddling of the league management thinking they can do better than the players, we get this garbage.  Players running at stars who aren't able to fight, the enforcers are removed, there's no fear that a player like Probert is going to come off the bench and beat your ass for running at Crosby, or Datsyuk, or whatever.

This league is killing itself.
