$2.75m for an utterly one-dimensional player is more than reasonable. Hudler can score if given the opportunity, yes. But he cannot hit; he cannot skate; he is not of sufficient size to create his own space in the offensive zone; and he absolutely cannot play defense.

Were I Holland, I'd certainly have offered him well below $2.75m to start.



Playing on a 3rd line with Samuelsson and Filppula does not really equate to playing on the 3rd line with pretty much any other lineup in the league.



Rofl. You really don't get the point, do you? Hudler allowed the matter to go to arbitration, which ate up weeks. By the time that was up and a satisfactory deal was reached, most of the good free agents---Samuelsson included---had been signed. Then Hudler bolted. If Hudler was going to occupy all of that cap space, he damned well should have stayed.

Oh, and what does Hudler deserve? As I noted, he's one of the most one-dimensional players there is.

Are you really that stupid? Secondary assist can be much more important than the primary assist in many situations. If you have watched hockey you'd know that. Fore-checking the puck away for example and creating a 2on1 situation is much more important than eventually the pass that the other guy makes in that situation.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one scratching my head after that post.

There's absolutely no reason for my reputation to be so low right now.  

I want to see some legitimate reasons from people.

I like you GMR, I'll give that post a "+".  I also like the explanation portion of the rating system.

I'm with Micah and The Secret on this one.  With the exception of a couple players it seems like there's no drive or heart out on the ice.  The team for the most part seems complacent and like it's going thru the motions.  Everyone thinks the likes of a Hudler is the missing piece because he can score a goal or two, but how about backing checking hard, blocking shots, and caring about not being scored on.  It's been said defense wins championships.
