#2275344 Nyquist needs to stay here

Paul McLean's moustache, and Lindy Ruff and to some extent Ken Hitchcock...cause the Wings are the benchmark for those teams. And by more with less, i'm interpreting as overachieving, not just being high in standings. Having Z and Dats dragged down with the goalie pulled in the last 2 mins of the game last night by Cleary and Homer made me pretty pissed with Babcock. toss out Nyquist and Filppula with Z and Dats....YOU'RE TRYING TO SCORE FOR f***'S SAKE!

The only thing of note that any of those coaches has won is Hitch, and even then, Hull had to kick the puck into the net to win the Cup. And if you look at that Dallas roster, there's no way it was a team that overachieved.

If the Wings lose in the first or second round of the playoffs this year. I would fire Babcock. I have seen many coaches do more with less. I think the assistant coaches he hired are a joke, and I really feel as if he has no idea how to do lines.

I might say he has a bunch of huge positives, but it seems at this point maybe those negatives outweigh the positives.

You find me a coach that has "done more with less" than Mike Babcock and the Detroit Red Wings and I will print this post off, wrap a raw octopus with it, and film me eating it on YouTube while singing "Don't Stop Believing".

The lunatics are truely running this asylum.

Blah, I suppose you're right...it just seems like a waste. 36 points? For a top line player? We don't actually think that's acceptable now a days do we?

Bert doesn't make the lines, Babcock does. And, he bases them (supposedly) on a "what have you done for me lately" basis which means that, unless your name is Pavel Datsyuk, you're always going to be up and down the depth chart. Saying he is a "first line player" changes day-to-day.

Also, those 36 pts (and +25 rating) cost all of $2 million dollars. So yes, I think that is very acceptable.

The Blues top point producer (Backes) has a whopping 53 pts but I don't hear too many complaints about him or guys like Berglund and Perron who have the same amount of points as Bert, get paid the same, play top line, and are much younger than Bert. The Blues are winning because everyone is playing their role and when you win, nobody gives a s*** how many points you have or where you are in the depth chart.

Bottom line is, everyone has a role to play and Bert is doing his very well. If your main gripe about this Wings team is how well Bert is doing, I think you need to redirect your attention elsewhere.

Not to be the downer, but this doesn't mean anything but a bit more confidence. Hold off until they play Nashville before you make a judgement.

Right, because gaining confidence is completely overrated in snapping a losing streak right before heading into the post season.

Right now, the seeding is less important than the fact that half our line-up is going to be out injured, or playing injured, or coming back from injury early for the playoffs, or just come back from injury and not 100%. I would happily trade the #6 seed for a 100% healthy line come Game 1. 2007 and 2009 are all the evidence you need of how hard it is to win when your key players are banged up.

The first half of the season I had such high hopes for this team - defensively strong, Dats and Flip on fire. Right now my playoff expectations are lower than a snakes belly.

You're common sense has no use around these parts.

Devastating, but take a pass on the rest of the year and rehab the knee please. Can't afford anything less than 100%.

I just took a dump, looked in the toilet, and I swear it was set up with Hudler at the point.

Bottom line: On a team with the world's best player (Datsyuk) and the worlds' hardest working player (Helm), the rest of the team is going to look like s*** unless they're putting up career best numbers.

Everyone's got a role to play, and by looking at the standings, they're playing it pretty well. Sure, some guys might not be putting up career numbers, but I can't think of a year that every single player on a team justified their salary/cap hit.*

"That's the way she goes, boys. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't cause that's the f***in way she goes"

*Edit: Of course, an argument can always be made for a players salary by winning the Cup I suppose.

In before "This is Minnesota and they have injuries, so this doesn't count."

I don't know...Wings are playing good, but Minny does have some key personnel injured. I'd like to see how we do against a full strength team.

Juuuuuust made it.

Wow, Jan Mursak has a slovenian cheering section at the Joe tonight. Hahaha, Murph calling out the boys for being drunk, classic.

Pot, meet kettle.
