#2197005 Gittin Tougher

Posted by LeftWinger on 06 July 2011 - 10:51 PM

Fighting aside, it's the sticking up for your teammates is what I hope he does and then it rubs off on Abdelkader and Ericsson. It drove me nuts when Stuart was targeted and got his jaw busted and Ericsson and Abdelkader did nothing what-so-ever. They just stood there and looked stupid. Stuart, at the time, was Detroit's best defenseman and he was railroaded and knocked out of the season by a career minor leaguer trying to making a name for himself and nobody stood up for Stuart. Commodore will do that when necessary, and if it leads to a fight or 4 or 10, then bonus for us! But Ericsson was signed and paid accordingly, not because of his offensive abilities, but his size and strength, this is the year he needs to display that and use it to his advantage. He needs to get mean, nasty and stick up for teammates. He needs to hang out with countryman Doug Murray and learn how to throw his body around. E will never be a Lidstrom or even Kronwall in the scoring department, but he can before a fierce hitter and a physical body in front of the net, with the right influence and guidance. I believe the likes of Abby, Eaves and Miller can benefit as well, being physical, just go out there and without getting out of position, punish the other team physically! That is what made Aaron Downey so valuable to this team when he was here and especially in 07-08, he just ran everyone down and got the crowd and team into the game, it's too bad he got out of position alot though...

Not gettin' a toughness list. You've lost the privilege. I never said we couldn't beat the Hawks, I just said they're more physical, keep tryin tho

I just want a toughness list. So does everyone else. Guys Holland should acquire who have toughness so we can have a fighting chance against the almighty Hawks.

Aw you lost an argument and now you're trying to discredit me. I have a pretty high rating for a troll. Maybe you should have a look in the mirror. Know what I mean lil fella?:P

How did I "lose" the argument? This isn't a competition, it's a discussion. Quite juvenile, young chap.

If you have nothing to contribute to the thread, don't post. You do nothing but troll every thread on this forum. And no, now that I know you can't wait for the list, i'm gonna hold off on posting it. :)

Meaner. Yawn. I bet the Wings are scared s***less of the Hawks now. I mean they're just so mean you know what I mean? Is this where you throw out a list of washed up has beens who have toughness but can't crack an NHL line-up? I can't wait.

#2179566 Hudler's Future

Posted by ShanahanMan on 25 May 2011 - 01:06 PM

Hudler was one of the team's most effective players from Christmas until the end of the Phoenix series. It wasn't just a few games.

Hudler had a nice little spurt of point production between Christmas and the end of February. Thats pretty much it. Following that, he went pointless for seven games and finally started doing something again around the beginning of the playoffs (as others had mentioned, so did the rest of the team.) Franzen's longest pointless drought was 4 games, while Hudler's was 13. To even fathom the notion that Hudler is as/more valuable than Franzen makes one question your sanity.

And my point was that Hudler outplayed Franzen during the portion of the playoffs Franzen was healthy for. And in case you didn't notice, this is a Hudler thread. Don't want to discuss Hudler, don't come into this thread. It's easy.

You mean all ONE game of it?

And... so was the rest of the damn team. Name one player that didn't have an above average series against Phoenix. I mean, Salei even notched a goal and looked good.

B-B-B-But Hudler had that stretch back in December where he was Christ in hockey skates, right? We are provided nothing from you b-b-b-but Hudler love, stop.

#2175448 Jonathan Ericsson Appreciation Thread

Posted by stallion on 14 May 2011 - 09:10 AM

Although a few on this forum probably wish Id do what I said Id do earlier but I will seriously consider Draino down the gullet to watching Road Block, Traffic cone, Pileon aka a pathetic excuse for a D Man sport a Wings uni again.

Ericssucks and Sakei need a plane ticket to NOT IN HOCKEYTOWN,

Raffy aint that bad, he just needs someone to help him out on the blue line.

Heres to rebuilding our defensive lines in there entirety, unless it doesnt include Nick although Im not good at holdin gmy breath.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're drunk and hence have an overinflated sense of your comedic talents (spoiler: not funny).

Our top four D-men are solid. If you'd asked me a few days ago I would have said get rid of Salei and E, but I think Ericsson could use a little more time to get comfortable with playing D. Once that happens, there's a good chance we'll see more physicality out of him. Salei can go. Rafalski is killing us with that contract, but when he wants to be effective he generally can, so it's not the end of the world.

In summary: Not funny. Salei gone, Ericsson as #6, sign someone to play be #5.
