Hopping a plane to go down there in 30 minutes. They've never lost a game in Nashville that I've been at. Hoping to continue that tradition. 60 minutes of hard nosed hockey with no one taking a shift off. Let's bring it back here for game 6. LGRW...
Great job on the GDT, Mike. +1000 for the John Blutarsky.
Im sure that there are a lot of teams out there willing to take on his contract before we are. And what would we be willing to lose for him, when we already have Jimmy?
It's going to be a long summer if someone doesn't show up tonight, but if they don't it's what they deserve. We, however, deserve better. I blame the stupid Mule/Ram commercials, which have ceased to be amusing to me. Get the Hell out of the sin bin and do your job! I know you get paid the same either way, but leave the wife and kid at home, and go to work.
The Detroit Red Wings aren't ever going to let Nick walk.
I really hope Nick comes back and is able to regain his early-season form. He's earned the right to keep his salary if he wants to play another season. But, I think he definitely has to understand that a sizeable paycut would really help the team out--and give him the best chance for a Cup.
It's time to go with the youth and get bigger and stronger. Bert,Homer and Lidstrom all need to retire. Hudler needs to go play in midget league.
Howard needs another goalie to push him for the starting job.
I know a 3-1 lead in a series is almost impossible to overcome, but there is something about this team that tells me they will not go down. I still have faith in this team.
During the regular season we we're incredibly streaky (both good and bad). We often found ourselves in 1-6 game slumps only to follow it up with a winning streak of our own. This gives me reason to believe that we still have a chance in this series. I know that this is the playoffs and games are 10x harder to close out and mistakes can cost you a series, but we aren't a young team. We have the experience in big games. The wings play better when there backs are against the wall and when they are on the brink of elimination. That is why I still have faith in this team.
I know these following predictions may seem lofty but I see them as entirely possible. There are too many times where a team lets off the gas pedal and can't finish. That won't be the case with Detroit, they will finish strong.
GAME 5: Detroit makes a statement and puts the pressure right back on Nashville.
DET [5-1] W
GAME 6: Nailbiter game that could go either way, but Detroit wins at home.
DET [2-1] W
GAME 7: This game will feature playoff hockey at its finest, with the highs and lows of everything you could imagine. Detroit wins in overtime.
DET [3-2 OT] W
Keys to Victory: - Get the first goal - Don't allow odd man rushes - Limit turnovers - Stay out of the penalty box - Get 2nd chances on Rinne
