#2455069 QMJHL vs Russian Allstars

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 18 November 2013 - 09:54 PM

1 goal, 1 assist.  GWG.  Looked good on the PP.  And he almost had a Blake Wheeler goal ripping down the wing and powering to the front of the net leaning on a guy.  Overall, very impressed.

#2455015 Lines Thread

I see Gaborik clashing with Babs. Don't really have much to base that on, though.
The big thing is his cap hit. Isn't it 7.5 or something ridiculous like that? No way Holland even tries to take that on.

Ya but it would only be for the trade deadline to end of season, then we could re-sign him at 6 per.

No way anyone takes sammy. It would take probably a 1st and a higher end prospect (Oullette or Jurco)

I like to live in a fantasy world where people will trade us very good players for our garbage :)

#2453864 What would you do?...

Posted by haroldsnepsts on 15 November 2013 - 12:44 PM

It was from a Wings Facebook page. I don't have a twitter account, so I copied the image link. Never said if it was true or not...

That doesn't absolve you from responsibility.

If you're going to post what looks like a tweet from Dreger's account that certainly looks true, it's still your responsibility to determine that it is before you post it.  It would've taken 30 seconds to verify this tweet.

#2453610 Patrick Eaves on Waivers

Posted by rick zombo on 14 November 2013 - 12:41 PM

1. Do we have to explain the Sammy thing every time someone is waived?

2. I like Eaves, but he's very replaceable. Just like Emmerton (who I also liked)

#2453417 Speculation regarding Franzen's ailment

Posted by hooon on 13 November 2013 - 11:05 AM

Lots of players get the stomach flu, food poisoning or what not. Fans get the gist of what that entails.  It's usually not cloaked in secrecy.  Medications to stop it usually make you feel better, not worse.  The anxiety thing just seems to make much more sense.  Anxiety medications do make you sluggish and tired, it just seems like the most likely explanation, since one isn't really being given.  If Franzen wants to keep his condition secret, that's understandable, as he doesn't like attention, but the team should at least be on top of the situation and give a plausible explanation and not leave the everyone looking dumbfounded when they ask about what is wrong with Franzen.

So even though both Franzen and the team have come out and literally laughed off the suggestion that it was anxiety issues... we're STILL going to beat a dead horse here and claim this guy has a debilitating mental illness because it more conveniently fits into the "Franzen is lazy and he sucks," mode of thought around here.... OK, that's fair.

I guess everyone else on the team not named Datsyuk and Zetterberg is suffering from some kind of mental illness too, because they aren't scoring either...

I'm in shock still, Cleary a healthy scratch? Why on earth would Babs scratch our best man. Might as well scratch Z and Pav as well.

#2450709 Joey MacDonald waived by Calgary

Posted by dobbles on 04 November 2013 - 10:12 AM

Yikes. Calgary is in trouble. Wonder if they are calling Holland about Mrazek...

i doubt it. they have 2 young goalies that they need to evaluate and see if they are going to be in their future plans. reto berra just played his first nhl game after being acquired in the bouwemeester deal last year. i think calgary will definitely give him a long look to see if they have a something.

macdonald played solid for them as a backup last year. i think they kept him around to have some stability with 2 young goalies. however, they weren't getting much out of him this year and decided to go with the 2 younger guys.

#2450701 Nyquist taking things in stride, with class

Look who's keeping pace with Nyquist down in Grand Rapids.  Tomas Jurco is going to be the real deal.

Can we change the thread title to "Nyquist taking it up the ass, with pride"?

#2450677 Dave Bolland just got Karlsson'd

I don't think it was intentional.

#2450597 Mantha signed to ELC

Posted by dat's sick on 03 November 2013 - 03:44 PM

Mantha currently leads all QMJHL scorers with a whopping 43 points in 17 games. His nearest competition has 31 points in 19 games.

For reference, #1 overall pick Nathan MacKinnon had 75 points in 44 games last season in the Q, and #3 Drouin had 103 points in 50 games. Mantha is on pace for 126 points if he plays 50 games.

What. He is just destroying that league :o

Didn't see anything too impressive from him at camp, but I guess it may just have been too soon for him to impress at that level. This kid is gonna be interesting to follow.

#2450029 K. Fraser comment on Z's high stick

Posted by haroldsnepsts on 02 November 2013 - 08:50 AM

Ya double minor. Don't even know what that would be a suspension for, falling between two guys and your stick hits one?

Much like the letter to Fraser, it was mostly just a bunch of butthurt Nucks fans finding an excuse to continue whining about Kassian's suspension.

They're insane if they really think those plays are similar.

#2449470 11/1 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Flames 3

Posted by wings_fanatic on 01 November 2013 - 01:08 PM

No to mention Hudler has more points than anyone on the Wings, and has played one less game.

I would love to see Hudler play head to head against the Sedins and shut them down like Pavs and Hank did, and still put up solid amount of points in the process as they have so far this season.

#2449359 Edler trade proposal

Posted by dirtydangles on 31 October 2013 - 09:16 PM

I think we should target a stay at home dman. Ideally that is Girardi due to RH shot but doesn't have to be. We really need to be subtracting Quincey rather than Smith and we can DEFINITELY afford to trade our 1st this year with the plethora of prospects jammed in the pipeline. Franzen isn't worth much due to the contract length despite the cap hit - and we are screwed if he retires (compliance buyout). Edler is very expensive because he is on a great contract and is a top 2 defender on a team that needs him.

I would prefer to do something like:

1st 2014 + 2nd 2015 + Quincey for Girardi at the trade deadline if NYR are out of the playoffs and can't re-sign all their guys under the cap.

EDIT: Also no interest in Booth anywhere near this team.
