Sammy, God love 'em, has more goals than any Red Wing so far. Reasons, smeasons, he just plain has more and as much as I like the guy and am glad he's successful, it's killing me that he's ahead of D & Z, etc.

And what's worse is that he is 4rth in goals on is own team and is still out goaling all the Wings. Its a kick in the ribs to a Red Wing fan living so close to Vancouver.

As far as total points go, Detroit's leading scorer would be 4th on Vancouver. WTF!

On a positive note, Helm already has more goals than I thought he'd get for the season. Bertuzzi is so close, he could have 20 already, but that's hockey.

It would sorta suck to have the team struggling so much and have Datsyuk on fire at the same time. Meaning that maybe when he heats up, it will be a team thing, and everyone will start getting hotter.

I'd sure like to tip a few beers with Lidstrom and hear the inside scoup on "what's & why's" of the season so far.

Here's to getting everyone healthy and hitting it hard the last 3rd of the season and into the playoffs. Time to play the underdog role coming from behind for a change.

gotta admit, this team is really missing the sammy's and hudlers but it is what it is. Once kronwall, willy, and franzen are back i think this is going to be a different team. THis team will have alot more scoring depth and I think by now everyone including babs the team and all us fans feel very comfortable and confident in howie between the pipes. Just gotta stay where we are and keep in this thing and hope everyone clicks when the wings are 100%

Yeah, except we're one of the best defensive teams in the NHL (7th in GA/G). The only teams better than us in the West, defensively, are Chicago, San Jose, and Vancouver.

We've also been missing quite a few scorers this year.

Ha! I agree. Or to watch him panic with the puck and not know what to do with it.

Oh, yeah, and I don't even want to think about The Sedin Sisters, the actual Euro Twins. They're on fire, while are's aren't even luke.

However, I do think it's good for the Wings to have to scratch and claw it's way into the playoffs by the grit of their teeth, for a change, with a real, honest to goodness chance that they may not make it.

Zetterberg only missed 8 games, and has already played nearly that many since his return. Datsyuk hasn't missed any games from what I remember. Bertuzzi has been having a great year by Wings standards, yet Sammy is outscoring him. Franzen is the only guy with an excuse to be outscored by Sammy, since he's been out all year.

The OP did a great job showing just how bad we've been offensively.

Stats like these are sad, but put things into perspective very well.

i hated logo hunter but he took tons of shots from the slot, which is the best place to score in the 'new' NHL. We dont do that anymore. We cycle the puck and give it to the point for a blocked/off target shot. we always make about 3 more passes than we should.

No, actually, I don't. The OP is simply an observation of the facts at a given point in time. You may interpret them if you wish, but that was not the point of the thread. I tried to make that clear. Just because you can argue about the reality or explain the reality, doesn't mean you can change the reality. It is what it is. And the reality is, Sammy has more goals.

Losers are always whining about doing their best; winners go home and f*** the Prom Queen (-Sean Connery to Nicholas Cage in "The Rock"). For years the rest of the league made excuses as the Red Wings continued to win. Now is not the time for excuses of our own, its time to show true grit and work harder and smarter. Whoever is on the ice in a Red Wing uni needs to achieve more than whoever is on the ice in the other teams uni.
