100% agree with you, but I was more stating that I'm not horribly disappointed if we are only able to get Suter and not Parise assuming Brunner ink's the contract. Parise to me is a very desired player to be on the Wings. See sig below. I have a nice menu of players i'd like to see here and Parise is #2 on that list now behind only Suter. I'm trying to not be too greedy and have unrealistic expectations from Kenny. As much as i'd like to see Suter, Parise, Brunner, Prust and Garrison sign here and have Semin, Radulov, Hudler and Franzen play on the same KHL team, not all of those are gonna happen. If we even get Parise and Suter i'll poop my pants and then Brunner is the icing on the cake. Rick Zombo, i would also love Prust on the 4th line. Also see sig below. He's been on my Red Wings hit list for a while. Ozone, you are correct in your analysis. The Jets will only take Martin if they can send Hainsey the other way.

Garth Snow is the best GM in all of sports. Look how successful the Isles are and how certain their future is on Long Island.....though his pads were not within regulation. Snow wanted to draft Murray and call it quits for the draft. Untuck his shirt, take off his tie, crack a beer and put his feet up. And Chuck Wang should be the GM if he's gonna poke his nose in everything and make rash idiot decisions to keep the Isles in the news.

Cause everytime they get a player that gets over 40 points and it's contract time, they offer them 4-7 mil and can't keep them all. Basically, their cap management is terrible and they have to do a salary dump. References: Paul Martin (x2) cause the pens want to dump him to throw a pitch at Suter and Parise. Jordan Staal was dumped to bring in depth and cause he wasn't signing again after next year. If the CBA works in a buyout clause, Franzen

Didn't you watch the WC where he had 7 points in 7 games? Babcock likes him a lot and he's got the skills to be a top 6 guy and is a desperately needed right handed shot. As much as we love our prospects to be 26 before they get a shot, I think it's time to cut that trend and award spots to the best available player.

Red Wings 2012 Round 4 Selection- Andreas Athanasiou
Z Winged Dangler replied to Tim.D's topic in General
How in the hell did this kid fall to the 4th round?? Then again, Frk fell to pick 49 and he looks like a nice pick. I'm definitely liking what Kenny did in the draft this year. Those 2 and even McKee who looks like and angry federal inmate ready to punish all who cross the blue line. Can't wait to watch this kid develop more and hopefully see him at the WJC.- 19 replies

Jets already have Antrofloat so Franzen would just be overkill, and Wheeler is loved in Winnipeg. It would take an act of god to get Wheeler to the Wings, but he would get a kickass nick name of Winged Wheeler if he came to the Wings. And no way the Jets are giving up Wheeler and a pick/prospect for Franzen. Wheeler is gonna top 70 points this coming season if he can get another linemate with some high end skill and finish when he dangles through the opposing team and dishes it to a wide open guy for an easy goal.

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz
Z Winged Dangler replied to Tim.D's topic in General
While the Rangers are trading away their best players, they can trade Staal to the Canes to complete the trio and their first regular season shift together, they can go Hanson brothers on their opponent after they foil their knuckles. On a serious note to obligatory Girardi mention, he would cost way too much from the Wings and Smith isn't going anywhere.- 294 replies

i fully agree with the Parise assessment. He's an impact player for sure. Brunner though I personally think will be a great fit here and open up the offence a lot having a shifty, speedy right handed scorer. If we get both Brunner and Parise it opens up an option for more scoring depth lines 1-3. Mule-Dats-Parise Brunner-Z-Flip Nyquist-Helm-Bertuzzi Cleary-Abby-Miller/Eaves That's a pretty solid lineup.

Funny...my dream roster also does not include Franzen, or Francine as you call him. I prefer "The Floater". Either way, I think he'd make a good Washington Capital. DeKeyser would make a nice addition next summer and he'll be playing with McKee this year. Sounds like a nice pairing. I would like to see Suter and Garrison signed.
-
Well said. I'd rather be on a team that worries about hockey and not the other bulls***. The amount of talent the Penguins have went right out the window in the 1st round aside from guys like Staal, and he's gone now. Even James Neal was playing like a huge **** with an attitude problem.

hmmm...another young player that grew up idolizing Red Wings and thinks Datsyuk is the best player in the NHL. This must really piss off Crosby that no one thinks Prince Sid is the best.

before the news that the Wings are apparently signing Brunner, i was on the side that thought our offense was stale and needed a guy like Parise to ramp it up, but after the news came that the leading scorer and right handed speedster was sitting with a pen until July 1st, i think now that signing Suter will definitely be more of a priority than Parise. I would honestly go with Brunner, Suter and make a push for Garrison if i were Kenny. If not Garrison, then Carle or Wideman. Kindl apparently is going to be the tweener around here like Meech used to be, so may as well get good help when possible. Schultz will most likely sign with Edm or Tor soon cause they can offer him top 4 NHL playtime. Smith is as good, if not a better player like the article said and he had to spend a couple seasons in GR before coming up to the show next season. If you want to play for a contender, you gotta make your way onto the team when training camp hits and outplay the other guys. You have to be a "can't miss" player to walk right on to a team like the Wings at a young age.

Red Wings 2012 5th round selection- Mike McKee
Z Winged Dangler replied to Jaymister's topic in General
dude's a beast. -
Z, Dats, Helm, Flip, Kronwall.
-
i knew i saw someone ask for him in the draft discussion somewhere. good call dude. he has some nice puck skills. can play the point on the power play too and has a pretty good clapper. i like this pick. and he's even right handed! and all of the picks other than the goalie are exactly 6 feet tall and can still grow so we can't even complain that they're little punks that Kenny's drafting.

Red Wings 2012 Round 4 Selection- Andreas Athanasiou
Z Winged Dangler replied to Tim.D's topic in General
i'm pretty sure a couple bigger name players are moving on from the Knights this year too so he may be in more of a spotlight this season. i like to hear that he's really fast. could be another mid round gem like Tvrdon. Needs to add some beef though. 165 lbs could be a typo, but a little muscle without losing speed and he's a nice pick it seems.- 19 replies

Red Wings 2012 Round 3 Selection- Jake Paterson
Z Winged Dangler replied to Tim.D's topic in General
#3 rated North American G...could see him on Canada's WJC team this year. that would be a good stage to see his Jr capabilities playing against the best the Jr's have to offer. -
after diving like a soccer player. that's the day i developed intolerable hatred for him. and his smug face screams "headshot me, i'm a huge ******" i like Cody Eakin. Kind of a Helm type player.
-
if Lundqvist wasn't already my favourite goalie in the NHL, he would be now just cause i found that so damn funny.
-
yup. He would look nice on a line with Dats. He had the skill and definitely had the speed before his accident. let's hope Jurco pans out cause he's got skill. This team could be so badass if Parise and Brunner both sign here July 1 along with Suter on D.

read the article about Z being the next captain. Flip sits beside Z now cause he's the next captain and he's gonna groom Flip to be his apparent heir so he's most likely not going anywhere. and also probably why Holland offered him 5 years at 15 mil last time his contract was due. he's got that potential. great team guy and leads by example, just like Z.

Jordan Staal traded to Carolina, signs 10-yr, $60m extension
Z Winged Dangler replied to Salviaman's topic in General
the pens gave up Staal, but got a 3rd line centre back and the 8th overall pick and took a really good dman and followed up with another highly touted dman.....balls. they're doing a pretty good job staying competitive and i hate to say it. -
i certainly like dallas more now and washington even less.

i think the only current capable one is Nyquist. on a line with Z and Flip i believe he can do it. Not with Homer and Emmerton like the 2nd half of his games last season. Other than that, i think that even guys like Tatar and Jarnkrok need to prove themselves more. Pulkkinen i don't think will be anything more than what he is now and will remain in Europe, but i could be wrong. I'm not really big on Hudler and think there could be better options, but if he wants to sign for $3mil, then go ahead. Over $3mil is reserved for offensive superstars and great 2-way forwards like Filppula has become. I for one think that Z's points go up even more if he get a linemate like Prust to get dirty and get him and Flip the puck and go to the net like a hungry bulldog. Guess we'll find out in the next 10 days what's gonna happen with Hudler.
