lol...they're a booming success with their 3rd straight lottery win. How come the Wild fan ran away when we all started dumping on him? At least defend yourself so we can enjoy dumping on ya more... Fact of the matter is, and Drake, you've said this before i believe, no pick is a sure thing until they're a regular with the big club playing regular minutes. Look at the weird s*** that can happen. Anyone remember Igor Grigorenko? There's an example of just ours, but there's lots out there. Even the Sedin sisters took 5-6 years to break out.

good to see i'm not the only person that still believes that the Norris should be awarded to the "overall" best dman, not the leading point scorer on D period. By the numbers, Chara and his 50+ points and +33 should have won it. The NHL needs to stop going mainstream catering to a new wave of bulls*** and keep at the very least the awards consistent with the description that comes with them. I was gonna "like" yours and DyingAlive's posts, but i used my daily max on LeftWinger and Drake Marcus...

Not sure trading White would be the best idea. He had his best year as an NHLer playing with Lids and a lot of it is due to playing with him, but he also got better as the year progressed playing with him and looked to learn a lot from Nick. I think he could be a good D partner to pass the education he got last year down to Smith. I, like dirtydangles would rather see Quincey go and get a 1st and 3rd as compensation. Also http://www.nesn.com/2012/06/report-ryan-suter-wants-to-stay-in-west-as-nashville-defensemans-desired-destinations-dont-include-a.html Suter doesn't want to go east and may already be planning on signing with the Wings. Let's forget about Schultz right now who apparently wants to play for a Cdn team, possibly Tor or Edm, so we'll take him off the table. That still leaves us with Suter, Kronwall, White, Ericsson, Kindl, and Smith. Try to sign Garrison, Wideman or Carle and sign DeKeyser after his next season in college, also at the same time, White's contract expires but we get a valuable year of service from him. I think Kindl is also RFA after next season. Re-sign cheap or let him walk and take a pick from who signs him. Things aren't as bad as they seem around here. There's some good dmen that can be had without giving anything up.

honestly, if i was the oilers gm, i'd take Ryan Murray in a heartbeat. as i said earlier, i strongly believe that Murray and Forsberg will end up being the gems of this draft. Reinhart, Dumba and Galynchuk <----spelling? should also be top quality players. The best player in the draft though will undoubtedly end up in the Wild's system

Top Swiss-leaguer Brunner to sign with Wings, Babcock has big plans

But who would rather play with Dats and Z over Danyf****** Heatley? And of course Granlund, the next big thing in Minnesota...- 139 replies

You sir are a cool dad! I hope the oilers trade down and take Ryan Murray. I do not want him wasting away in Columbus. I'd rather them get Yakupov. Murray and Forsberg are going to be the 2 best players in the draft.

Overpayment. Flip 66 pts, Ryan 57. I wouldn't trade Flip 1 for 1 with Ryan at this point. He's been consistently improving and has become Z's Wingman and is doing quite well. And on top of that, Flip's work ethic, hustle and defensive side of the game is more valuable than Ryan's. if Huds walks like he should then this Brunner character could be the 3rd addition to that line. I'd rather pay less and try to get Van Riemsdyk from the Flyers with a deal that doesn't include Flip. Tatar is trade bait as far as most of us are concerned, so use him and another prospect and pick....this is all assuming Parise goes elsewhere or back to Jersey.

I'm good with this. Dude's Swiss League scoring champ last year and some people don't want him on the Wings....WE NEED SCORING! If this is true, the Wings just got better.- 139 replies

...which is exactly why i did not reply to him. he tells me to go back to NHL13 and completely misses the valid point i made in which the Wings have won the most cups in the last 22 years. I hope Granlund goes to the KHL and Coyle requests a trade. Or i guess the Wild's prospects futures are pretty certain.

i hope he signs with a team like the sharks

Every non-playoff team should have the same number of balls in the draft lottery drawer to get the 1st through 14th picks. And all the playoff teams should have a draft lottery the day after the cup is won for 16-30 with equal chance to get it. I like the Oilers, but 3 years in a row...same with Chicago loading up and of course the worst of them all, the s***birds. I'd like to see equal opportunity and have the team that just missed the playoffs by a point or 2 get the first pick and get in there the following year and have the crap team that finishes last get stuck outside the top 10. then maybe they'll actually show up for the last 15 games of the season...

Karlsson winning the Norris is not good for the award. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but only a good dman. The award is for best overall dman, not point leader among dmen. Award should have gone to Weber or Chara. Pietrangelo should have gotten nominated over Karlsson in my books.

I'm not sure you understand the meaning of upswing. Minnesota has built from the ground up doing a full rebuild in 3 years total and now have one of the most talented and deepest prospect pools in the NHL. Those prospects will be turning pro THIS year. Like it or not, that's how championships are won, from the ground up. You also conveniently left out at the injuries they had. Dany Heatley was the only forward who played all 82 games and he did so on an injured knee. I could go on but it's evident that you think history is the end all be all of the NHL. I'm not sure you understand the meaning of perennial contender which is what the Wings are. Re-tooling and being competitive EVERY year is a lot more effective than tanking for numerous years in order to stock draft picks for one eventual cup run, and win or lose, YOUR picks will want to head to a team like OURS to try to win a cup EVERY year that they play for the team. NHL13 has a special stanley cup edition with the winner of the cup for the past 22 years in it....in those past 22 years, the Wings have 4 stanley cup championships, pens and devils 3, wild = 0. There's your recipe for success junior. Watch hockey for a few more years and take notes. Some of us have been around for a lot longer and know a little more about the game and how the systems work. Enjoy the Minnesota Wild Fan Board. Later.

Parise and Suter - how much are they really worth?
Z Winged Dangler replied to Yzerman191's topic in General
Or sign him for the same 7 years at a nice round $50mil. If Parise makes it to UFA status on 1 July, offer him and Suter the exact same contract and negotiate from there. -
nice. rob zombie is nuts and so were the broadstreet bullies. lookin forward to seeing this mess.

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz
Z Winged Dangler replied to Tim.D's topic in General
I live in Canada (Winnipe) and I couldn't agree more. The Jets are a couple years removed from being a bonifide playoff team. The Flames, Habs, Sens, and Leafs are now perennial middle of the road outskirt playoff team. The Oilers have a ton of great young players, but lack the depth and experience to be a great team at this point. They may have a Pens/Hawks thing where they win a cup in 5 years and then sell half their depth players to keep a few stars, but that's all the threat they pose at this point. The Canucks, well they're unfortunately the closest threat Canada has and they are cursed and I hope they never win a cup. I hope Kassian and Schneider leave and the rest of them get stuck there like the crew from the Black Pearl! As for the Jets, they could use a guy like Schultz. Buff should go back to the Wing, Kane apparently might leave and Enstrom apparently may be traded... Mahachek will be up next year, and possibly Maxwell and Mark Flood will be on the roster full time. Schultz should just sign with the Wings.- 294 replies

League takeover of cash-strapped Devils may be inevitable
Z Winged Dangler replied to edicius's topic in General
I hope the NHL gets rid of revenue sharing. Keep a cap, but if you can't fund your own team, you shouldn't be able to spend to the cap. If you attend the games, then you can ask more from your team in terms of who they sign. Phoenix should have the bottom cap floor as their actual salary cap. -
I would add Nyquist and Jarnkrok to that list, but other than that, it's fair game.

If we fail to reload with top UFAs we should?
Z Winged Dangler replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Which is something the Wings haven't had since the early 90's. If we can get a Ryan Murray/Matt Dumba type dman at next years draft, that would be quite nice. -
I agree with everything here but Semin, unless he signs for 1 year max $5 mil. He has no 2-way game, but Dats could help find his potential. If he plays hard every night, he could pot 50 on Dats wing. I am hugely on board with para 2. Smith will be a beast next year up full time and in a year or 2, Sheahan will be the "Gaustad" that this board is looking for on the Wings. Big, tough, smooth fast skater and great on the D side of the game. Hopefully this year in GR he gets his offense going again. But as my dad stated the other day at lunch, GR needs a new coach cause the dude down there is not doing s*** with our black aces. I'm also looking forward to seeing Ironhook cross the pond and see what he can do in NA and bulk up and get the 10 or more pounds he needs. I don't give 2 s***s what the critics say on the scouting reports, all the Wings prospects i've seen play have looked really good. I want to see Tvrdon on GR too next year as i'm pretty sure he's too old to play in the WHL.

Parise and Suter - how much are they really worth?
Z Winged Dangler replied to Yzerman191's topic in General
I guess all those years of watching coaches corner rubbed off on me. i just am not a big fan of Kovalchuk. I know he had a back injury in the playoffs, but in general, he reminds me alot of Kovalev. All the talent in the world, but not the heart of a champ. Z has had chronic back issues, but still competes every shift, and when Dats went down earlier this season Z played through injuries and was a point per game while doing so. And thank god his back is getting better by the looks of it. Once again, this is why i want Parise and Suter here. They're ******* gladiators. High compete level and work ethic. That's why the Kings won the cup with guys like Brown leading the way. Even Penner decided to earn his $4 mil. I don't want to have to settle for a lazy ass like Semin. -

Parise and Suter - how much are they really worth?
Z Winged Dangler replied to Yzerman191's topic in General
the big thing with Suter and Parise is not so much that they're the best players on their teams, but that they play the game right. they have that workman attitude that would fit great with the Wings and that's why they're a perfect fit for this organization. i'd rather have guys like them then Semin, Kovalchuk, Green...guys that like to be flashy but provide only that to the team. i'd rather have Parise cause he's works his ass off every shift and forchecks like a bulldog and despite his 15 points in 24 playoff games, he was one of the big reasons they were there cause his work ethic rubbed off on the rest of the guys except Kovalchuk, he's just a prima donna dbag. Suter is the calm dman we need to replace Lids back there to play big minutes with Kronner and maybe with Smith to have a strong D partner to help get him to that top tier as an NHL dman. Those 2 are exactly what the Wings need to be back on top. add in a guy like Prust and things are great for us Wings fans. I still thing Schultz and Garrison are good pickups too if Holland can wrangle up a crew and say, hey...let's win the next 5 cups. K go.
