I like how you always try to use betting $100 to win arguments.

Landing Shattenkirk would be best case scenario, but I'd definitely rather see Holland sign Green over Franson any day of the week.
-
Pens were already a team with too much money tied up in too few players. This does not solve that problem.
-
It wasn't Holland who screwed up by signing Weiss over Filppula. Filppula wanted to go elsewhere. Weiss was signed because we were losing Flip, not because Holland chose Weiss over him.
-
To be fair he could barely play himself into the lineup in Ottawa either.
-
Huge everywhere and will finish out of the playoffs? I can accept that
-
Even if this were 100% true, they made no effort to start a bidding war for him. There are GM's out there who didn't even know he was on the market. Lousy trade no matter how you look at it.
-
Can;t call him delusional when there are GM's out there who would pay it. Nlame the Gm's, not the players. They ask for big bucks because they know someone will give it to them. Then uh oh, lockout. Don't understand this move at all. Guess they want another expensive dman they can scratch come playoff time? He has an injury past, he'll fit right in!
-
A big fat no to Semin, IMO. Outside of his skill, he is the opposite of what this team needs.
-
Definitely. A bridge deal puts him into UFA age. Gotta lock him up now. If he is given a short deal, and tears it up, it will cost a hell of a lot more. Overpay him now, his contract will become a steal. Holland has literally been doing that for years. Because Larkin showed more in merely a month than Mantha has in almost an entire season. Not saying Mantha won't get there, but Larkin's game allows him to contribute at the pro level. He does not need the development that Mantha does. Instead of waiting until the kid is 21/22 like we always do, there is a chance we may finally have a player who will already be making a big impact on this team in a top 6 role by that age. It isn't hype. Many of us feel he is ready. Obviously Blash and Holland think he may be as well.
-
Buying him out now instead of next year makes it feel like they want Larkin in the NHL now. I'm all for it.
-
I think Larkin will absolutely make the team is Datsyuk can't start the season.

Pronger (contract) and Grossman to for Sam Gagner and conditional pick
marcaractac replied to e_prime's topic in General
IMO they need to no longer allow players on LTIR to be traded. Specifically those who are out indefinitely/forever. It is the only way to stop these trades. The cap was brought in to level competition, by forcing teams to all pay a similar salary for their roster. By taking on a cap hit that should be retired, the Yotes while technically are inching close to the cap floor, will actually be paying nowhere near it. Same for how the Leafs were able to dump Clarkson's contract to be able to pay a player who will never play again, and not count against the cap. Neither trade should have been allowed at all. -
The B's seem to always have some excuse for trading away young superstar-to-be players. Maybe it is time they realize they are the problem.
-
I really do think Larkin just might make the team. If not at the start, definitely before the season is out. Sadly as far as the Calder goes, he'd have to noticeably set himself apart from McDavid and Eichel, as you know those who vote will be itching to give it to either of those two. But I'd rather see Larkin contribute come playoff time than to see him win the Calder. Something that either of the other two won't even have a shot of doing this season.

We will at that time never hear the end of it

Pronger (contract) and Grossman to for Sam Gagner and conditional pick

I just don't understand how Pronger could have taken a job with the league and not forced to retire as a player first. Now basement teams are gonna reach the cap floor with bulls*** contracts like Pronger, when they should be forced to take on players like Weiss. -
Nobody is gonna take Chara's contract at his age. But there were definitely ways to shed salary that did not involve Hamilton for sure. Dumping Lucic was a good move. Hamilton, not so much.
-
Meh, Lucic is vastly overrated. Plus, no chance in hell the Bruins ever deal either player to the Wings without badly overpaying
-
Exactly. Buy him out next season, and there is only a cap hit for 4 years instead of 6.

32 games are back to back nights. weeeeee -
Calm down, a lot of people type on phones n s***. Blame autocorrect
-
And luckily this kid already is. Not to mention physically can play in the NHL right now given the chance. We might see this kid on the roster sooner rather than later.

As for D, go with what we have, see what options there are for a legit top 4 at the deadline. Drafting russians has worked out very well for Tampa. Not many teams take risks on Russians anymore. Could be a steal for us.
