Nice goal by Mule earlier, but "OLE" on the defense. Scoring chance, penalty called, power play upcoming. Sigh.
-
No, but just because of the salary.
-
That. More of that, please.

Nice goal MULE!

GDT 3/3 GDT : Blackhawks 2 at Red Wings 1 (SO)
AtomicPunk replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Is our second PP unit really Franzen, Tatar, Abdelkader, Kindl and Smith? WTF, -
It doesn't seem that there is a lot of "turning over rocks" going on in the Red Wing offices. I'm not down with Simon, but when I heard the news, I thought, why don't we do something like that?" And NOT with a former Red Wing like Sammy.

Long term contract / no motivation / lost his "edge" / becoming soft. I said a long time ago, I am going to curse the coach that makes him change his game and backcheck. A guy like this was a wild stallion, a scoring machine who loves to score. Let him do it.

Red Wings to be in an Eastern conference in latest NHL/NHLPA proposal
AtomicPunk replied to a topic in General
The saying used to go..."where is the best place to get tickets to a Wings game"? answer..."United Center". I love now that the Hawks have a good team that everyone forgets their history...no broadcast TV...the Eric Daze and Alexei Zhamnov years...they were named Worst Franchise in Sports by ESPN in 2004, they straight up sucked from 1998 to recently when they got all those great lottery draft picks. Like Pittsburgh as well. Red Wing history is not always spectacular either, but that was late 70's, early 80's. And now they say. Oh, now that they aren't that good, they run to the other conference? I guess they are tired of being a doormat for the last 20 years. We helped them get those Top 3 picks. You're welcome. -
ha, ha, ha, ha, What a great investment that turned out to be,
-
Detroit has become a slumpbuster. Sad.
-
Now we get the time out.
-
Wow.

I am so disappointed when I look at the defense on this team. Aside from Kronwall on the power play, after that on the PP, it's just shabby.
-
Taking a look at the standings and seeing the Wings out of the top 8 makes me panic a little...I don't see them "coming up" either, I see them "going down"...just a middling Western conference team who may / may not play in the post-season. Like Phoenix. Maybe the return of injured players will give them a boost...
-
Maybes and opinions of experts only go so far. The jump from non-NHL talent to NHL talent is a big one, and then becoming a dominating, All Star team leader type player is another huge jump. Lots of players are supposed to be good or great and then don't pan out. I wouldn't bet too much on "the future".

I get the feeling Hossa is busting is *ss out there on every shift, he is very fast and tenacious on the puck. He is stronger on the puck when he has it, and he makes things happen in the offensive zone that don't show in stats. I don't see that work ethic or hustle from Johan. I wish I did.
-
I'm not panicing, just disinterested, which is maybe worse. In my mind I don't feel the team has filled the needs they needed to in the off season, and watching the games, I don't get the feeling like they are dominating anyone.
-
I heard a commercial for his new venture, apparently it ihas something to do with laser / pain relief. don't remember specifics, but when I heard it on 97.1, I thought...."Wow...haven't heard about John Wharton in a long time!"
-
No. And It's sad that we even have to talk about this guy as an option for this team.
-
Must be a slow off season. Great topic but we have no exciting off season news....sad. If I had a story like that I would post one. Sorry to de-rail.

Ryan Suter agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild
AtomicPunk replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
MY problem with the whole thing is that he knew Lids was going to retire a while ago. Maybe not when, but he knew he had to prepare for that day. Maybe make a trade for a younger guy that could grow into his role and get 2 years under his belt before Lids hung it up. Is Smith that guy? No freaking idea. But to put all the eggs in the Suter basket is just desperation. And now he is holding the bag and looking for some plan C. I don't like that.- 252 replies

And less successful. Don't forget that.
-
Don't know if you don't try...I'd have rather thrown a 1st round pick for him than for Kyle Quincey. Kenny needs to turn over a few rocks and make stuff happen.
-
Too bad Kenny didn't think of throwing a 2nd round pick to the Ducks for Lubomir Vishnovsky like the Islanders did. Point man on the PP, done. Next?
-
I'd love Wheeler. If he were available.
