who's on the outs if we sign multiple forwards?
Carman replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Yep, I'd add in Eaves. Really disagree here, Abby is a very good 4th liner and provides something our team has very little of. He's very important. -
3rd highest paid goaltender behind Dipetro and Luongo. Let's see if he can actually honor that contract over the whole length. I think he will though.

I'd love Rick Nash, but definitely not for what Columbus would want. Then again Howson has made horrible deals in the past, so who knows.

Well there goes my hope for next year haha. Hope he stays healthy even for the finals, I would want to beat the Penguins at their best.

I'm onboard with it, Doan is the type of player we need. Will help fill the leadership gap by Lidstrom as well. Babcock's type of player I believe too.

Steve Ott - anyone interested in getting him?
Carman replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I don't know if I want to spend 3 million + on a player that doubled anyone else on our team's PIM. -
What does the Bure induction mean in the future? (Now just an example) Does this mean Crosby can retire now and get into the hall considering just 170 points fewer in 268 fewer games? Pretty much means Eric Lindros is for sure now. Is Cam Neely's production the line you have to be over now?

I know I wouldn't mind him if he was a Wing, but I can't bring myself to saying that I would pursue him. Just hate everything about him. -
Probably has something to do with Sack-Lick having a much better career. Shanahan should have been a first ballot none-the-less at least over Sundin. Tough class though, I could see Bure, Sakic, Oates, Shanahan, Sundin all being in. Looks like Shanny was the odd man out and I really disagree with it.

So would you do that deal if your a Anaheim fan? Ryan is younger and more productive than Flippula, Quincey had a disappointing season last year, and Mursak is coming off a huge injury and has never proved to be an effective NHL player for a extended period of time. The team getting the better player usually has to overpay unless the other GM is Burke, and with that deal we just aren't.
-
But why would Anaheim or Columbus? Trades take two teams.
-
BUT I WANT IT NOW
-
I'm sure Bruins would trade Thomas or Savard, or Columbus Wisniewski. Not all deal will result with the Red Wing being a better team. I know I'd be pissed right now if I'm a Carolina fan. I'd rather the team not make a move, then make a bad one.

Z can play the wing just fine, but I don't like Fil in the winger role, he's played much better being a centre and being more involved on both ends. Either way i believe the wings have a glutton of great centers and are really lacking on the winger front, Forsberg would be an interesting move, but we'd have to give up too much for someone I'm not entirely sold on. Franzen while frusterating has proved he can help the team in a huge way, I'd rather add players through free agency and not have to give up talent. Unless we are talking Rick Nash
-
I do think the Red Wings need to make a big move, they don't neccessarily have to trade up in the draft, but if they don't they sure as hell better get some of the bigger name free agents. Our team needs to make improvements quickly.
-
We need wingers much more than centres imo, Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Flippula/Helm is about as good of centre depth as you need. Franzen/Bertuzzi/Cleary/Hudler is not good enough winger depth.
-
Thing you guys need to remember is Carolina wanted Staal, I'm not so sure people want Franzen.
-
Great move for the Penguins, Jordan wasn't going to stay after this year and they get Sutter and a number 8 pick. Rich get richer.
-
Wow this draft is nuts, I'm loving it. can't wait for july 1st
-
Save up for Crosby. I'd really like to trade everything it would take for a winger Rick Nash/Bobby Ryan seeing as we actually can take on cap space. Other then that I'd like to see the other names Konopka/Moen/Garrison etc.
-
Can we get Fedorov too? We'll see, I wouldn't be opposed to it, he slowed down considerably towards the end of the season/playoffs, but that's to be expects after 3 years in the KHL playoff 60ish games. Still a good offensive player, I'd be hesitant though mainly because I think we need more speed up front, but if Holland thinks Jagr can score 20 goals and will sign for one year I don't see the harm.
-
Centcougar, have you came up with that resource that has the Red Wings as one of the worst prospect pools yet? I'm still waiting. You're entitled to your opinion and prospects are almost always a gamble, but you are extremely diligent in your position, and I'm extremely curious on how you came to your conclusions. You said you are friends with a pro scout, I'm sure you can link me some good stuff so I can broaden my knowledge of prospects.
-
Eh I still think zetterberg is a better player than datsyuk if he's healthy which he hasn't really been the past couple seasons. Now it's really close but if I had to choose one, just for a playoff game I'd pick Z.

"He" didn't do any of that, the board of governors did. He's just a figure head, any one else in the world can become commissioner and nothing would change unless the board of governors agree to it.
