  1. Yeah I could see that too. I think Cleary has been in line too but Fil is the long term, logical choice. Maybe they do a rotation or something
  2. I'd be interested in any of those guys too. Barker would be the highest risk vs. reward. I don't understand how he has fallen so far. I was reading a few other boards today and it seems as though a lot of people find him extremely lazy. I think I'd be most interested in Gragnani though. Any of the young guys would probably take a 1 year deal and could really turn into something if they can tap into that potential

    The Next Move

It's honestly painful reading the crap you use to formulate posts. You exaggerate way too much. On to the topic: I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Nyquist start the year back in GR. He still has options and Holland hates to lose other players when there are options. I think Brunner gets his shot first but we may see some movement back and forth to GR for him as well. My guess for the start of the season would be: Franzen - Datsyuk - Samuelsson Filppula - Zetterberg - Brunner Bertuzzi - Helm - Cleary Eaves - Abdelkader - Tootoo Miller, Mursak If Doan gets signed he'd replace Samuelsson on the Datsyuk line. Samuelsson would shove down to the 4rd line and push Bertuzzi to the fourth line with Eaes sitting. Mursak would probably be gone.
  4. They wouldnt even be given an A - not when there is already such an established group of leaders in DET. A new signing will not get an A when the probable letters are going to be: C-Zetterberg A-Datsyuk A-Kronwall A-Cleary
  5. So what is everyone's opinion for another d-man? Let's assume that DET does not make a trade for a Yandle or Bouwmeester etc. Who are some names you'd like to see DET sign and for how much $ and term? Some guys I think could fit the bill for various reasons on a 1 year deal that could be a band aid solution: MIchael Rozsival (probably take more than a 1 year deal to sign) Pavel Kubina (seems kind of washed up but in a limited role could be good) Carlo Colaiacovo (def need more than a one year deal to sign him) Shane Morrisonn (I'm meh on him) Milan Jurcina (Wouldn't hate it, wouldn't love it) Scott Hannan (pretty slow but could be useful as a 7th d-man) Jim Vandermeer (could work out well and bring some physicality) Cam Barker (had tons of potential and maybe needs to the right circumstance; he's still only 26) Matt Gilroy (everyone loved him a few years ago, his defense is kinda wonky but at 27 he could be ok) Marc-Andre Gragnani (his AHL numbers are pretty awesome and he hasn't been given a real shake at the NHL level yet and he just turned 25)
  6. Any one get a chance to see Cam Barker in EDM much last season? Last year I thought that he would have been have been a good reclamation project on a one year deal and DET ended up grabbing Commodore. At 26 years old the guy has fallen off pretty far considering the hype around him when he was in CHI but I was wondering if any one got a chance to see him last year. Would he be worth a shot on a 1 year deal?
  7. Don't worry, every now and then Centcougar shows up and acts like a jackass until he inevitably disappears again. Everyone who reads this forum on any kind of consistent basis knows his posts are crap. To your other point, I think Kubina is all but washed up. I wouldn't be completely opposed to it if the Wings signed him to a 1 year deal for the bottom pairing but I dont know that he'd be ready to accept the role of a 6/7 d-man rotating time with Kindl. I think whoever the Wings sign (assuming a trade for a top 4 guy isn't made - which I don't believe it will be) will be a bottom pair guy so that Smith is in the line up every day and Kindl gets a lot of time too.
  8. reading that Centcougar and Leftwinger ***** fest was ridiculous. Those two sound like two 13 year old girls arguing over which one is more in love with Justin Bieber.

    Ken Holland, Post-Scotty Bowman

You said his only plan was getting Suter. So you inferred he had no other plan and that is what I am referring to

PK Subban for Flippula and Tatar?

i dont buy...it's cute, but I dont buy it

Wrong. When a player that Holland and co. feel fits their system is available they go after him. So if the Wings signed Suter or Garrison or Schultz it would just supplement the depth chart. Sure, it would push some guys further down the depth chart but that doesn't mean that the plan wasn't to go with the roster they have if they couldn't add the right piece. Now you'll see the WIngs add a veteran defenseman this summer. Just because you don't like the plan that Holland has/had doesn't mean there was no plan.

Posters like you fail to realize that Holland's plan was to have Smith ready for a full time spot this year and adding Quincey at the deadline. Just because a lot of posters don't like Quincey or are scared because Smith is a rookie doesn't mean that Holland didn't plan. You, and a lot of other posters, are scared of the Wings current d-corps because it's not as name worthy as it obviously was for the last 20 years with Lidstrom. But Holland and co. felt that they added a top-4 guy in Quincey and then hoped to add Suter. It wasn't Suter or bust for them...even if it was for you. The Wings brass feel that both Ericsson and Quincey will play to top 4 abilities this season and they can be added to Kronwall and White for a competitive top 4. They also like both Kindl and Smith as their 5/6. Just because you happen to disagree with their assessment of where these players fit into the depth chart doesn't mean you should be making outrageous claims like Holland didn't plan and is now scrambling.

Doan staying in PHX 4 yrs $21.2 mill

Nothing against Doan as a hockey player but I've never liked him. His comments after PHO lost this year really cemented, in my mind, my dislike for the guy. That being said, he is definitely the type of player the Wings need. I think he would thrive here so if the Wings sign him I'd actually be pretty happy.

Wow, do you have any idea how strong each of those players were at the time they were acquired? Injuries cost Hatcher and Krupp their time in DET and Lang eventually deteriorated. But all three of those guys were impact players when they were acquired. I'm actually embarrassed for you. That has got to be the single worst post I have ever read - and that includes all of your pointless line threads/posts
  15. I live in Toronto and thought Aulie was really good during his time with the crappy Leafs. If Aulie hadn't re-signed I would definitely like him on the Wings. I honestly don't know what it is with him and not being given a full time NHL shot. He's still young though (22 or 23 I think) so maybe his time is still coming

Could Wings still make a move on Weber this year?

If somehow the Wings would be OK with giving up 4 first round draft picks then I say sign Weber to a 1 year league max (~$14M) contract. That way if NSH matches it then they can't trade him for an entire year and it screws their cap situation up. Or if NSH declines then the Wings can sign him long term during the season and won't be hampered by another 12 year deal (as the new CBA will eliminate those)
  17. mmamolo

    Would you do this deal?

I wouldn't do Franzen straight up for Burrows. AB has to be one of the most overrated players in the league. Plus, he's a diving p.o.s. I'm not saying no Wing ever takes a dive but AB is so blatantly obvious it's insnaely tough to watch

    In Anticipation of 2012 Draft

I thought we could change it up a bit from the everday UFA talks...
  19. mmamolo

    Looking at Holland comments.

Wrong - I cannot remember one trade that involved a players rights prior to free agency that was contingent on signing. There have been some where the compensation would change if the player did or did not sign but the eve nif the player did not sign with the team there was some compensation going to the player's original team. That is why we saw Dan Hamhuis' rights get traded twice in one off season a couple summers ago.

    Wings interested in Garrison

I personally would not want to spend $8M/yr on Suter. That being said, I think it's more likely that that happens than the Wings going with inexperience. I agree with the Chicago thing though. That's why I was so surprised to see they signed Johnny Oduya to a 3 year deal with a NTC. But maybe they figured they wanted a D line up of: Keith - Seabrook Suter - Hjarlmarsson Leddy - Oduya But at this point you've got to think they'd want to upgrade Crawford. But maybe Bowman doesn't

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

I was with you on replacing White next year...then just when I thought you were making sense you took a big dump on that theory

    Alexander Radulov.

Personally, I don't believe the Preds offered that much money to Radulov. But who knows Also, apparently the Rangers are interested in signing Rad. I feel like it's the late 90's all over again
