Jiri Hudler signs with Calgary, 4 years, $4m/year

lol... i agree with others. he will be back! (if indeed kenny is still gm)

Red Wings Sign G Jonas Gustavsson to 2-year deal, $1.5M/yr

i like it. hes not all that old for a goalie and with a more sound defensive team hopefully he can tighten things up himself. hopefully can keep howie sharp as well... good job KH! 1 hole filled, couple more left

Steve Ott - anyone interested in getting him?

i would take ott in a heartbeat. he pisses his opponents off, plays high energy and finishes every single check. he kills penalties, even can play holmstrom like pp role, is solid on faceoffs(55% last year), will stick up for his teammates . he does all of this and more but also has an offensive touch as well... a GREAT 3rd line center/wings who adds quite a few elements this team could really use and havent had recently. just my opinion though.

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

Opportunity, not money, will be the deciding factor in securing Schultz. The Red Wings are prepared to guarantee him a roster spot at the start of the season, something every team that pursues him will need to do. Schultz's contract will be the same wherever he goes. He is restricted to a two-year, two-way entry-level deal with a base NHL salary of $925,000. His team must make a $3.8 million salary-cap commitment, however, due to potential bonuses, many of which are not realistically attainable per mlive article... not sure if it was mentioned already but i thought it was interesting. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/06/red_wings_have_begun_their_pur.html

    Peter Mueller

i agree with a lot of previous posters that he would be worth a 1 year try. no harm to foul especially with his skill set.

    Trade Ian White?

obviously if you could upgrade it would be worthwhile... (ie-yandle) but even so, hes one of our few right handed shots so that may not be the best idea depending on who we get (yandle shoots right). i also feel he is pretty consitent, moderately priced and has the some spark which this team seems to lack at times. i would personally like to see them keep him.

    High End Trade Options

ryan for filppula isnt even close. 4 years scoring 30 goals is quite an accomplishment to say the least... and at 25 years old? get real people... flip is a solid 2nd liner... ryan is a bonafide 1st line sniper, gonna take a lot more then filppula for sure

    Thinking of Buffalo Wings.....

i tend to agree here... just dont ever get the Caribbean jerk or you'll feel like a real jerk.

    Chris Stewart

lol... like there was ever really a chance that st louis would let him come here.

    My Trade Proposal

lol...you are so wrong on so many levels i dont know where to start. you do realize that at age 25 ryan has 136 goals in the nhl and franzen has scored 14 more goals at age 32???? lets not forget that 5 came from 1 game! franzens career year at age 32 was 58 points which is 13 points less then ryan's career year of 71 points. the problem here is ryan is 7 years younger and will only be getting better for the next few years whereas franzen's game has only declined. by the time ryan is franzen's age, im pretty sure he'll have more then 150 goals. at age 25 ryan's "s*** year", his 4th full season in the nhl, he became just the fourth player since the lockout to hit 30 goals in 4 straight seasons. kovalchuk, kessel, iginla are the other 3 but thats probably because of his ice time, right? the difference between ryan and franzen? one player has about 100x more potential, possibility to become elite, 100x greater work ethic, HEART, A BETTER nose for the net, a more consistent track record, hell, even better numbers yet is 7 years younger... if you really think the only difference between these two players is age then you just apparently haven't watched ryan play. im sorry bro... franzen just isnt that good. his value to you is WAYYYYYY higher then the value any other team would put on him. not saying teams wouldnt want him because somebody would, but to compare him to bobby ryan is so wrong its not even funny.... and it HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ICE TIME
  12. DangleDangleBeach

    My Trade Proposal

lol... bobby ryan is 25 and had 1 less point then franzen last year in his "s*** season" (57 points) with a 15.2 shooting percentage which is higher then johan has ever had. ryan s*** season point total ironically enough is actually 2 points less then franzens career year. if in ryan's s*** seasons he gets 2 less points then franzens career year... what incentive does anaheim have to swap a consistent 25 year old (4 years 30 goals is consistent) for an 32 year old who is consistently inconsistent? seems quite foolish from their perspective.

    My Trade Proposal

trade is quite lopsided toward the wings. for a second we can pretend they can afford to sign both stuart and hudler... theres still no guarantee either of them will sign. ryan is so much better then franzen and its really not close and if anaheim is trading ryan you can i can assume they would want to guarantee themselves more then franzen, kindl and a 4th

    Would you do this deal?

i would take any of those 5 players except gonchar. butler... yes, foligno... yes, lehner... yes, smith... yes.
  15. DangleDangleBeach

    Would you do this deal?

yeah i would do this for sure. foligno looked great last year and he definitely plays with a chip on his shoulder... though ottawa wont let him walk i can almost guarantee

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

somebody made the proposal on HFBOARDS.... rights for schultz to Detroit rights for stuart to Anaheim thoughts on this? i thought it made a lot of sense for the wings though im not sure Anaheim can afford stuart. nonetheless, seems to make sense for both teams to potentially get something for players that they are seemingly losing.
  17. DangleDangleBeach

    Would you make this trade?

no i never said we would have drafted green. im just saying that since THEY DID with our pick that they worked us over on this deal looking back. had they drafted sami lepisto or kyle klubertanz it wouldnt look so ugly looking back but since lang never panned out... and since fleischman looks great for florida (as he did in washington) and green can be an offensive stud when healthy i find it hard to say this was a deal that worked out well for the wings. once again... i understand hindsight is always 20/20... looking back at how it all worked out its hard for me to say we won this trade. no need to respond to this... im just letting you know my logic and to be honest, dont really wanna go back and forth on a trade from years ago. i think we got worked, you think it was an okay trade.... leave it at that.
  18. DangleDangleBeach

    Would you make this trade?

yeah at the time we seemed to be making out pretty good but it never worked out as expected and to be honest, lang was a far cry from the player he was with washington for us (maybe had to do with jagr idk). regardless, i would rather have the fleischman green package looking back hindsight is always 20/20, but we got the shortend of the stick here no matter how you slice it.
  19. DangleDangleBeach

    Would you make this trade?

anyone else find it ironic mike green was the draft pick involved when we got raped in the fleischman for lang deal? now they want to trade us green "back" and rob us again... whats with these bastards?!?

What About = T.J. Oshie of STL., Evander Kane of WIN

theres something wrong with you if you would rather have kane then pav... regardless of age. all players are different and not every player hits a brick wall at 35... guys like st louis, whitney, selanne come to mind to make the argument that age is just a number. not only does pav have proven superstar talent, he also is the best of the best without the puck. datsyuk > any kane whether its pat or evander

Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

i think you guys are SERIOUSLY underestimating girardi if you think the rangers would deal him for quincey and i white package.... try smith and nyquist as for schultz... this kids not going to sign here unless we offer him a top 6 spot. wings will want him in the AHL, other teams will take him right on their roster. move ericcson or kindl and we could get him most likely but i can almost guarantee that wont happen.

Excellent 'Parise and Suter to Detroit' article

maybe the oakland athletics will take cleary off our hands?
  23. just for the hell of it... im making a team to play your "globetrotters" sorry to hijack your thread just seemed fun. i understand yours was merely on franchise players... but whatever you left off i used on my squad (whether you would start a team with them or not was not something i was worrying about.) iginla-datsyuk-st louis sedin-sedin-gaborik zberg-staal-kane benn-backstrom-b richards seguin chara-lidstrom boyle-yandle pietrangelo-myers pronger (if alive) rinne miller hossa, sharp, thornton, callahan, pavelski, mrichards, nug, hall, eberle, subban, kesler, hossa, eriksson, fleury, price all honorable indeed!

What's the point of the crease?

yeah i tend to agree here. though i must say... playing without creases i think would increase goal scoring (at least if i was the goalie, lol). i think the shrinking of the pads from 12 to 10 inches and the rules on bulky chest protectors / jerseys etc have kept the goaltending in check to a certain extent and at least have made it. yes, i agree goalies have adapted and are probably the best today then they have been ever... but its not like the players arent bigger, stronger and faster then they were in previous years. as goalies get better, so do the players (they have to) and when guys can shoot well over 100 mph i think the goalies have enough to worry about without taking their creases away. just my 2 cents, dont mean to step on toes
