We still have 17 mil in cap space and we have a seriously weak team. I guess it's time to let the youngsters sink or swim. Bring up Nyquist, give more time to Mursak, maybe even bring up Tatar. Who knows, perhaps it could be a good thing.

This era of the NHL sees goalies catch fire for several season, and then go cold instantly. It's happened to Vokoun, MAF, Roloson, Mason, etc. Not to say that Quick can't be the exception, but that's a big investment.

People forget he scored 96 pts in the AHL. As good as Tatar and Nyquist are they haven't scored 96 pts in the minors.

Everything is going right for the Admirals this year. I live in the area and there's been a decent buzz about the team. We don't have any pro teams in the area so the minor league teams make headlines around here.

Someone put these two teams together in NHL 12 and see who wins.

That would wreck our D. We'd have White, Kronwall, Smith, and Kindl. If Lids came back that would still be a pretty weak corps. Perhaps if we sign 1 big D FA and 1 middle tier D then we could try the trade you proposed.

Didn't Anaheim have bad defense? They would probably want Fil and Smith.

He was the Wing's worst defenseman on most nights. Holland got fleeced in that deal. However, Holland couldn't have known that Kyle would be that terrible. Kronwall is up and down. He'll look fantastic for a while, then he'll look mediocre to bad. Stuart has been no good for 2 seasons now. That leaves White, Ericsson, and Lids. If Lids re-signs and we bring up smith we could easily let Q walk if we can replace him with a FA upgrade. Kronwall - UFA Lidstrom - E Smith - White Kindl Although I do think that a lot of times when the D looked bad it was because there was little to no support from the forwards. Outside of Z, Dats, Helm, and Miller no forward wanted to play defense in their own zone.
