What is it with the Russian players? Gone are the days of Larionov and Fetisov. Of course they had struggles in the USSR where as these players have money thrown at them left and right in the new Russia.

He really was one of my favorite players, even through his holdout season. I really wish that he would have stayed. I can just see #91 in the rafters. As far as his new gig as a GM, I wish him luck but really don't foresee much success unless they have an unlimited budget. It's almost like taking a 20 year factory worker and making him CEO of Ford.

I remember how excited everybody was down here in columbutt when he came over. They had just gone through the Nikolai Zherdev situation and Filatov was saying all the right things to the press about coming to the NHL and columbutt. CBJ has a terrible record of pissing away 1st round talent by rushing them in to the NHL. Then, they get frustrated and trade them away for established players who don't want to play here. Then, they have to trade them away. Something is horribly wrong in this organization. There are only 2 things that have not changed over the years - Nash and the arena. I guess we'll see what the problem is when Nash is traded. As far as Filatov, I would have taken a chance on him at the right price, look at how all the former Jackets are doing on their new teams. It seems that every playoff game you see one in the highlights.

Get Parise, then, trade for Shanny, er, uh, Nash!!! What is it we are missing? A big, strong, nasty, scoring power forward. Get Nash, and then worry about the rest. Might even bring out the best in Mule. Who knows?

I sure hope you are right. We don't need a Commodore oops Gomez reclamation project going on. If someone did sign him and he turned out to be productive, I would not feel too bad because we could still start the Sean Avery Project. Better not say that too loud, don't want Kenny to hear it.

Why not Nash? No talk about getting a big power forward who, with his current toilet team, is a 30 - 40 goal scorer? His only NHL playoff experience is when we spanked him in 4 but his international play while surrounded by talent is pretty good. Plus, I thought we had to get bigger and tougher. He is a power forward in the mold of Shanny. People say that there is no way that C'bus would trade to us but that GM knows he only has one shot to keep his job. Franzen perhaps could be trade bait with a couple picks or secondary guy(s). Anyhow, we need to get a little tougher, meaner, and nastier. I remember the interviews after the 1997 Cup win and Cotsonika said that Bowman told him that we decided to "get a little less pretty and a little more gritty". I hold that to be great advice for Kenny right now.

Nash would be good, when surrounded by higher caliber players he play better, duh. But if he can be a 40 goal scorer on the bj's I have to believe that with a solid season surrounded by actual talent, he could be top 3 in goals for a few years. He could be had, albeit at a high cost, but he's about as close to Shanny as we can get. Remember what happened when we got Shanny? A true, elite power forward cannot be undervalued.

I love Ovie. I nominate Ovie for the office of President of the Capital of the United States of America, even though it's not even a state but a district whose residents can't really vote and whose somehow elected local government can be overridden on any decision they make by the Feds who some live there but seem to be able to vote just fine and get a lifetime pension for just a few years work unless stripped of their office but that doesn't happen often thanks to the good ol' boy network that we pay for. GO OVIE!!!

Still don't like the phlyers from the LEGION OF DOH! days but c'mon guys. My dislike for the s***tsburgh crysby's is fresher, therefore stronger. Go Phlyers!!!
