I'm confused what you mean by sit out? If he's under contract he can't just sit out can he? Breach of contract which would do him absolutely no good at all. He can F the dog every game until they trade him but he can't just stay at home and eat pizza lol. Does anyone else find is slightly alarming that this guy doesn't want to play in any Canadian cities because he doesn't want to be under the microscope? Look at his list of teams that he gave except for San Jose all the teams listed are huge hockey markets where he will be under the microscope just as much as he would be in a Canadian city.

I agree but we can only live in the past for so long..we need someone who can score goals..a 1 yr deal for Semin is well worth the risk..it's time to step out of the comfort zone a little more..he did that with the Tootoo signing but we need a goal scorer. I don't lose patience with Holland very often but if Pitt gets him on a 1 yr deal and we didnt put in a good offer I will be choked.

If we have a healthy dats, z and helm down the middle we will always be in the top of the conference. Semin or Doan up front and another servicable top 4 guy on the back end and we will be right in the mix. If we are healthy and Bert is on the top line I will shoot myself..I love Bert but he is not a top line guy..2nd/3rd liner...15 goals would be nice..20 would be awesome...and he can own the shootouts.

It will completely tilt me if he signs a 1 year deal..the reason we were shying away from him is because he apparently wanted a multi year deal..I would take him on a 1 year deal for sure.

4 Year sample size? Cmon...How many Gm's have won 3 Stanley cups since 1997...waiting..waiting..waiting..there isn't any..it's more like 4 cups because the first one he was basically the GM..Bowman was on his way out. We go 4 years without a cup and this place goes bananas. We need to get better and I will be pissed if we don't make some moves but relax..the chips will fall where they may.

So if they are dead weight what makes you think that any other team want them? You have to trade something to get something..these guys hold some value to us but may hold zero value to other teams.

I agree..whether you like these two guys or not that would be a huge boost up front. Putting 70+ goals in the lineup potentially. The issue with Semin is he wants a long term deal. Not a big fan of that..2 years is even stretching it. With this guy's commitment issues he should take a year with us..tally 45 goals and then go for a pay day one can only hope -
Dropped the ball? Are you serious? He made huge long term offers to both guys, It sounds like Parise was never coming here and Suter made a decision to go elsewhere...how is that dropping the ball? We are not talking about 5 time norris trophy winners or 50 goal scorers here. Very good players Holland made more then fair offers to. It's called free agency for a reason..these guys have a free choice to go where ever they want.

The lack of patience around here is comical..these 2 had every right to take their time and make a life changing decision. It's July 4th we will move on and this team will be better by the end of the off season. It's not a video game..you can't pick up your Ps3 controller and with 5 button pushes have 3 free agents signed. This was a kick in the balls for sure but we dodged two albatross contracts for 2 guys who are top tier but are barely top 5 at their positions. RELAX...

I agree, sometimes the best moves you make are the ones you don't. I would have loved to have him but 13 yrs at 7.5 per for a guy who really hasn't done anything in this yet.

I would sign Semin wayyyyy before I would sign Doan..Semin on a line with Dats has 40 goal capability..something Doan doens't have.. Doan would be a good fit but I would go after Semin first..personal preference..I know his work ethic is more than questionable but bring him here and see if that can change. -

Exactly..whether you think this kid is a bit of a ****** or not he can choose wherever he wants to go, the system is built that way. Makes me laugh how people around here think we are entitled to some of these guys. Schultz didnt say he was coming here..Parise has never said he's coming here and Suter has never said he's coming here. I hope we get 1 or both of them but I won't be crushed if we don't . Guys have their reasons to pick where they want to play.

If we could sign Semin and somehow trade for Ryan that would make me feel all warm and tingly inside..two right handed goal scorers. Let the mind games being, Parise is saying all the right things..there is no way he gets more then 8 mill.

How the hell can they afford all this? I can't stand the Pens but they have done an amazing job, Crosby, Malkin, Sutter down the middle and 2 solid first round picks this year.

I agree. Not huge on Semin's work ethic but if playing on Datsyuk's wing and getting set up all season isn't enough to give him a kick in the ass then I don't know what is.
