i miss you nick lidstrom... you where my bread... and my butter to... oh and i have to wash that all down and my wine to -
i just love how everyone thinks our team is loaded, even without the injuries, LOL keep smokin
-
brunner is def a great player but he needs to increase his size and strength... he is weak, especially around the boards, and will get burned in the playoffs when the physical play picks up
-
A lot of you keep saying trade fil but he can actually skate, pass, PLAY DEFENSE, and sometimes score... the two players to trade on offense would be franzisca and old man cleary on offense to bring in a power foward and sniper... i wouldnt mind sammy being traded either... I dont care franzisca can score 30 goals a season... i will take a guy that scores 20 goals and forechecks and plays with more heart anyday. I keep reading these posts on here since 2009 about how he will start to pick it up again... When is he going to do that i have been waiting for 4 years now?

signed Red Wings sign D Kent Huskins to 1-year, $750k contract
RedWingsExpert1988 replied to Jedi's topic in General
1. this is not a bad signing because you can not have an almost all AHL defensive roster and succeed. Huskins has experience and our D needs that right now. 2. Holland might be making a trade before the deadline, IF its the right one (whatever Holland's unpredictable brain thinks that is) 3. Most likely there will not be any big trade or signing this season. Holland will wait until free agency and even though we need top D guys, he will see if the RIGHT guys for signing are available (Once again if its the right one because no one according to Holland should be traded according to his loyalty) -
GDT 1/19: Red Wings 0 at St. Louis Blues 6
RedWingsExpert1988 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
even though i wont judge on 1 game, i still think the multiple breakaways is a sign that we have very bad defense. i can understand the offense needs chemistry and st. louis is great defensively but we have to figure out what to do with the D -

Time to start looking for a new coaching staff
RedWingsExpert1988 replied to Cali-Wing-Nut's topic in General
The problem is more than what everyone thinks. Lets start with Holland. Not Babcock. He has not been changing the team around at all the past couple years. The next problem is we have too many PLAYMAKERS. There are no snipers on the team. The next problem is we have a very SMALL team that IS NOT PHYSICAL. Another problem we have is really bad 3/4th line. We also need to replace guys like hudler, bert or cleary, and franzen on top 6, grab a sniper or two and get a couple big physical power fowards. Holmstrom needs to retire. Defense will be interesting this off season depending on what happens with lids, stuart, and if anyone gets traded... -
datsyuk and zetterburg are really going to be physically targeted by the preds... i would hate to see one of them get injured. they better keep their heads up and play with a physical edge because nashville is a dirty team and will try to injure our star players and that is NOT what we need. also need players to stand up for each other and fight if needed. can not be pushed around against a physical team like nashville
-
I also think he is mainly in it for the money... especially with a locked up contract

Babcock heaps praise on the value of Jonathan Ericsson
RedWingsExpert1988 replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
He has improved a little bit... -
Yeah for 1 game and technically all he had to do was shoot the puck on an open net from a great feed from datsyuk, on both goals he was just standing there. Guy is in-con-sis-tant. Period. Stats even prove it. Plays like top 20 player when he is scoring (20% of season). Plays like lebda (80% of other season).

a lot of people are missing the fact that our 4th line is very weak...

:siren: The problem with Detroit is too many players have accomplished a lot in their career or their contracts just guarantee too much and it has caused them to become lazy. I also think babcocks reaction to the team doesn't help either after every game. The team is good, the problem is it needs a couple different types of players to improve the effort night in and night out. It needs 1 top 6 foward that is a sniper with preferably a right handed shot. A couple different bottom 6 players. I am sorry all you cleary fans but he is a great player when he is healthy but with him aging and all the injury problems I think its time to bring in a new player for his role whether it be a prospect or a trade or whatever. Holmstrom is an amazing player and a legend to remember for the past decade but he is use less unless on the power play. I dont think dats should be playing with holmstrom because it really does slow him down. Since he is so good at setting people up, why not pick up a player that can skate with him and also shoot the puck. Maybe that will solve the power play problems. Hudler is a tough one, other than scoring goals he doesn't do much more than that. I will leave that up for the coaching staff to figure out what they want to do with him. Franzen on the other hand should be traded for a couple players or another player to fill his role but that is just me not ever really liking the guys style of play. The defense, I think, is not as bad as everyone thinks. We have allowed less goals then last year which is an improvement. I don't disagree that some subtractions and additions on the defense could really improve us. To top it off, I agree the team is extremely talented (when they want to be) but team could def use 1 or 2 tough players, which they don't have to put up more than 15 points a season, but at least check, fight, and be able to skate with the puck responsibly.

DUMB MOVE: thinking about signing either franzen or hossa DUMBER MOVE: signing franzen instead of hossa

that team had some of the best balance and players I have ever seen. miss most of those players and would die to go back in time and watch them play again

I am just curious how long lidstrom has been out. I usually keep track of these things but it seems he has been out for a pretty long time for a deep bone bruise. I was just wondering if anyone has read any rumors or any articles about lidstrom and any updates about him. I am really starting to think that lidstrom has either broken or fractured a bone for him being out this long.... or maybe they are just resting him for the playoffs but that seems unlikely with the way the current seeds are changing and the wings slumping...
-
I think I got the solution to the problems with the team. It needs 90's fedorov, 90's yzerman, and konstantinov acquired through time travel.
-
I dont even care that the wings are losing because every team loses games but the problem now is dropping too far behind in the standings. I think st. louis will continue their hot streak going into the playoffs and are not going to lose many games unless they get injured. Detroit this year is NOT a good road team and not having home ice advantage, even with a healthy team, could mean trouble. Lets just hope we don't drop to 5th place and have to start the playoffs in nashville with no home ice advantage. So yes, I think babcock should call his team out to wake them up because we can not afford to lose too many more games heading into the playoffs.
-
and i don't understand why, when we broke the record of 62 wins in a season, we didn't win the cup that year?
-
Sorry to say this but adding quincey doesn't make me feel the team got any better. If pavs gets injured in the playoffs then goodbye offense
