The Sharks have done an excellent job re-building on the fly. I would love to see them take Nielsen, but I dont see it happening.
-
That's my point, there is no evidence.
-
I think the people that want Holland gone feel that him not being fired means ownership doesn't care. I'm pretty sure Illitch has never said anything to insinuate that he doesn't care.
-
The Holland move doesn't surprise me even a little, this is exactly what I thought would happen. Blashill does though, unless the idea is to tank. I wonder if landing Dahlin would change the mind set on keeping Blashill.

Agreed. Its no different then say the Yankees a couple years ago. When a franchise with years and years of success and esteem has a down turn, it doesnt just lose that overnight, or even over 5 or 6 years. I think Wings fans talking about how undesirable we are now, is almost a form of self loathing if that makes sense.

Sorry, forgot to include that I traded him for Faulk.

LOL I kinda forgot to post what I actually did. Here are the specific moves I would like to see if we sign the UFA's in my lineup: - Trade Helm, Daley, E, XO, Glendening, (I would love to trade Nielsen, but I think that any chance of landing JT would require keeping Nielsen). Roll with a lineup of: JT-Larkin-Zetterberg-Turgeon down the middle Bertuzzi, Nyquist, Mantha, Abby, Frk, Svech, Rasmussen, Nielsen on Wing The on D I would like to see in our top 6: Dahlin Faulk (leaning towards making the AA trade) DD Hronek Chowolski (if he's ready) Hicketts Kronwall (ideally is on LTIR) And our bench guys can be Jensen, Witowski, and whomever.

How about now?

ESPN lists most dominant champions of last 20 years: 2008 Red Wings come in 9th

I'll take a longshot and guess its Corsi. -
That sucks for him, I hope he fully recovers. Makes sense now that nobody wanted to trade for him.

ESPN lists most dominant champions of last 20 years: 2008 Red Wings come in 9th

Their reasons as to why Chicago was dominant are not the best. Winning in OT is not dominating, it may be impressive, but its not domination. They must be putting a lot of stock into the regular season with this team. Keating's take: The Blackhawks finished the lockout-shortened 2013 season with an .802 points percentage, the highest of any NHL team in the past 20 seasons. An insanely dramatic postseason -- an overtime Game 7 versus Detroit, a double-OT clincher versus the defending champion Kings, an 112-minute opener versus Boston, two more OT games in the Stanley Cup Final -- stamped these Blackhawks as not just the most dominant but also the most exciting of recent hockey champions. -
Tatar traded to Golden Knights for 2018 1st, 2019 2nd & 2021 3rd

You know what would be a double whammy, if we use their pick to land a good player AND we are the one's to take JT lol. -
3/18 GDT | Detroit Red Wings @ Colorado Avalanche | 3 PM ET

Why? You want to go on a run? This is the best case scenario for us. Season is done, may as well increase our draft odds. Its not our fault the system is so flawed. -
I can still see the Avs winning a cup. Having Sakic-Lindros down the middle would have been scary.

Official 2018 NHL Amateur Entry Draft Discussion Thread

I am crossing my fingers that we get Dahlin, but my guttells me that we are getting Svechnikov or maybe Bouchard. I could see Wings management being high on Svechnikov because taking him top 4 is not by any stretch reaching, and what better way to get his brother going. You have to think these kids would want to play together, and will be 100% motivated to be the Sedin's of Detroit. Now I don't think Evgeni is at that level, but what better way to attempt to get him there. -
You know it must chap Mrazek's ass that he got pulled against the Wings. *EDIT* lol, I didnt mean this as a joke. But after reading my comment back I see I should have written: "You know it must @chaps80 Mrazek's ass that he got pulled against the Wings." Sorry man, had to say it! Its all in fun.

I think its a combo. I think the direction from ownership was to keep the streak alive, but I think the moves themselves (ie. Abby signing for 7 years, Helm signing when we really didn't need him etc.) are his moves. Who knows though, its all guess work. Other then Vilardi/Ras, I have been pretty happy with his moves since it was apparent the streak was ending.

I agree with pretty much everyone, you're not a bad fan, its a bad system. If you cheer for us to win, and we do win, then we pick lower and are less likely to be better. Its a stupid system.
-
I agree with you, but its not normal for any fan base to get that feeling for almost 25 years straight. Hopefully we get back to being contenders sooner then later.
-
In that situation, maybe.
-
I dont think Holland is leaving, but if you are bringing on a new GM, its kind of weird to have the old GM do the draft and first day of UFA.
-
Just did it one time.......got the Wings!
-
That would make sense. Everything he is saying would apply to last year.
