For once, praising Holland's refusal to make a trade

I agree with DeGraa. I would bet they wanted someone like Smith or Flip.

O'Reilly signed to CGY offer sheet

Rich you are VERY confident in this kid. I will be watching closely to see if he pans out as well as you think. I can't say I've seen much of him.

Anyone else getting pissed that the Wings can't hold leads

I'm more unhappy that they lost. In what manner isn't as big a deal, and blowing a 1 goal lead is not as bad as a 2 goal lead.
  4. I enjoy Emrick also. His enthusiasm is great, especially for people who are new to the game and don't know when something amazing happens if you know what I mean. Sometimes it's the small things that are amazing in sports, and Emrick does a good job of making things exciting. Not a fan of the rest of that crew. They love their East Coast teams that's for sure.

    I felt good...now I don't.

    Gus Nyquist...

I agree with Crymson, they would need to be split up. I could see Tatar going with Datsyuk and Cleary or Abby. The three of them together however, I'm thinking it would be hard to watch them get physically dominated.

    Babcock

I won't agree it always comes down to JUST the players. The players are on the ice, they have to perform. The way that the lines have been thrown together and the changes come down to Babcock. Tater should not be on the 3rd line still, just as Abdelkader should not be on the 2nd line with Datsyuk. Datsyuk has enough of a task trying to drag Cleary along all the time.

Dont' let it upset you. Not worth it.

    Babcock

Not sure I agree it's not on the coaches. I would possibly agree that the PP/PK could be on the players, but I wouldn't set it in stone. As for what seems to be a lack of organization, that's on Babcock.

    Bouwmeester opinions? Potential trades? *merged*

I laughed hard at this. Also, If we could get JBo for a sniff of Holland's taint I'd take it....as long as Huds is the one sniffing.

What would you give up for Ryan Kesler?

His diving bothers me a lot. I'd give them one good prospect

    Bouwmeester opinions? Potential trades? *merged*

http://www.mlive.com..._calgary_f.html Interesting tid-bit here. Seems the Wings are actively working this. Kenny is doing some work apparently. If this trade for JBo happens I hope we don't lose too much...

    Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?

Even if he's not necessarily "a sure source", it is a rumor thread and it is fun to speculate no? That being said... Not sure I like losing Flip for Yandle. I think, THINK, I'd rather lose Franzen and roll the dice with Brunner/Nyquist making up for his scoring. At least we know we'll get major hustle from Nyquist.

The State of the Central Division

    The Wings finish 3rd IMO.

    Keith Yandle to be Traded?

The question is, if we do acquire Yandle, will people consider this offseason a success? Obviously I hope the price is right, however chances are we're getting ripped a bit since he's on a contender in the west. I guess it boils down to whether we have to include Flip or Franzen. We all want Flip to be a Wing, but if we did trade Franzen, could we replace his scoring with the current roster? I'm just curious what you guys think.

Rick Nash traded to the New York Rangers

Here is a piece on what Holland was thinking when trying to get Nash. I can see why it didn't work. Most of the speculators on here were right on the pieces needed to get Nash. Source - http://www.freep.com/article/20120724/SPORTS05/207240409/Red-Wings-unable-to-nab-Nash-who-s-now-a-N-Y-Ranger Sorry if this was posted already.

Six teams on Nash's trade "list", none Canadian

I like the idea of Nash, but it's all about the cost. If we're giving up Franzen, perhaps, but not Flip.

Doan staying in PHX 4 yrs $21.2 mill

As much as I like the idea of Doan, I understand the hesitation by some. I however do believe our top six has potential to be better this year than last year. I think we need to focus on D. The price has to be right for Yandle, I would be really surprised if we landed him. Since we didn't get the Olson Twins(yes I stole that), I've calmed a bit on our team. At this moment, I'd call the forwards a push to slightly better than last year and our defense obviously is not going to be up to snuff. Hopefully Smith will come in and be a stud right away, at least that's my hope right now. Who knows, maybe Kindle and Quincy will improve. I guess what I'm saying is that we could be just fine this year, and we are definitely a playoff team.
  19. You sir are not a very good fan of the Wings. Tootoo is a Wing now, people need to get over it. Just think of what he may have done to Weber last year had he been on the Wings? I'm sure he would have done a better job than Bert did, even though Bert gave a decent effort.

    Nyquist in game 2

Not trying to be argumentative, but why would they bring Sheahan in on the last game of the season if they figured he wasn't ready? That's not very "Detroit-esque" if you know what I mean. I get giving him a taste, but like another poster said, he brings size and the willingness to play the grinder hockey that Emmerton may not be capable of doing. I do agree Andersson may be a better fit also.

    3/30 GDT : Predators 4 at Red Wings 1

Need to make a statement win here tonight! I really hope they come out angry as all get out for how they played on Wednesday.

Zetterberg 10th on All-time Swedish Goal Scorers List

Glad he's on our side! And to think people were screaming bloody murder about him the first half of the year...

    Nyquist needs to stay here

Agreed. Miller is better than Cleary right now, and really he has been all season. Miller has earned 3rd line minutes. Easily.
  24. jthiel86

    Nyquist needs to stay here

I'm not sure what do say about the lines tonight. There were periods of great effort when Datsyuk's line and Z's line were on the ice, but the bumbling defense couldn't keep possession of the puck. Our neutral zone passing was terrible tonight. I can see why Babcock would put Mule back with Datsyuk due to his history at playoff time and all, but for the love of all that is good give Nyquist a CHANCE with at LEAST the 3rd line. What a horrid waste of time and talent tonight. Here's a good question, would we rather see Kindl or E in that 3rd pair? Kindl looked decent since his return, but had a couple games. E failed hard tonight, but will be given another chance Friday most likely (shudders). I will say that Smith won't be an option unless injuries happen, so barring injury(s), Kindl or E?
  25. jthiel86

    Nyquist needs to stay here

The only problem I see is Bert. He plays with much more enthusiasm when he's on the ice with Datsyuk. Franzen doesn't necessarily deserve first line minutes, but it's almost playoff time and we all hope we know what that means!
