yes, I see others have thought of this. I've been thinking about it for a week now. The last 4 winners? IN ORDER? I blame Bettman, mister 'grow the game.' He is trying to establish to the 'new' hockey fans that 'anyone can win the Cup.' Real hockey fans don't care,(who is playing so much, we will watch any teams play. It's the Cup.) and fair weather fans that only watch the playoffs can get wound up about their local teams. Think of it. Phoenix, trying to convince their city to support them. Nashville, full of Pred Wings, advance to the second round over the Red Wings. If the Rangers fall, (and if my theory is true, they will), all of the Original 6 will be out. -

Has anyone else noticed this? What was the first team eliminated in these playoffs? The Red Wings, the 2008 Cup champs. Next? Pittsburg, the 2009 champs. Then? Chicago, the 2010 champs. Tonight? The defending Cup champions, Boston. Anyone think that's funny? I have not thought of anything so funny since the 2009 finals, when the Wings won games one and two, each 3 to 1. And Pittsburg won the next two, scores in each 4 to 2. Then, the Wings blow them out, 5 to zip. And won game 6, 2 to 1. And lost the last. By a score of 2 to 1. Thoughts? -
Connor has put more on the board and on the floor than Cory, and I've been watching him for 2 years in GR and was dying for him to come up and play. And Fabian is sorta my baby, because he's really trying to stay in what he loves. But Chris impressed me with the Pens, I liked his grit and speed then and I like it more now. He has my vote over both these lads, and frankly over Janny, too. If he can keep it up. Drew and Patrick have earned their spots and will stay with us. Watch and see, unless there is something in the locker room or behind the bench that likes him not....

The Rhino has a Song. The song has a dance, too, with much stomping of feet and swinging of horns. Ah-hem. 2, 3, 4... Poor Marc "Snowy" Flurry His score was 4 to 1 First he bowed to Datsuk, Then Franzen had some fun The third it went to Cleary, The fourth he can forget 'Cuz Danny faked out Gino, And hit the empty net! Poor ole Gino Malkin, His score was one-and-done Firstly was a beauty I gotta give it, son! But thirdly it was over And two points we did get 'Cuz Danny faked out Gino, And hit the empty net! Thank you, and good night!

The funny thing is, the color guy called them out for it in the first, then they praise it in the second!

Would have loved to see a penalty shot, but on second thought, I don't want to see Pav deke Rolle right out of his jock.
-
The Versus announcers would rather die than give Detroit its props. "Apart from the Pens, is there any better puck possession team than the Red Wings?" Long silence. Then, "Chicago's pretty good."

Z has been groomed for years now to take over; Lids is going to retire and I think he should while he is on the top of his game. His oldest son is already staying with family in Sweden because he does not want his kids in American schools. He needs to concentrate on his family now; he has given us 20 stellar years. Pav is God, but he is too shy and too self-effacing to be a captain in the media spotlight. Wouldn't mind Kronner; he has such grit and is just as pretty as Z (oh, stepped in it there...)

All the Pens play just on the edge of dirty. Except Matty Cooke, who's bending over backwards to behave himself after last year's controversy. I am BORED with Crosby and his cheap shots. I agree that it was just a scrum and that is hockey, but if he wants to dish he better learn to take it. If the league won't step in and curb him, he needs a social call from Jay Boumeister (spelling?) or even Cody Mac from the Avs to straighten him out.
