Sarijaarvi looks like one of our best prospects atm

Missed the playoffs once in 26 years and you expect the wings to have already drafted their franchise player. Rebuilding is going to take some patience. Wings may not get a corner stone player in this draft but we'll have decent picks for the next few years. Nothing wrong with developing good NHL players in the meantime. Firing everybody after one year of rebuilding is ridiculous. Sound like spoiled unreaslistic (delusional) fans

You guys need to buckle down and be prepared for some ugliness during this rebuild. It's not gonna look like the team is making any progress for 2-3 years at least if we're lucky. Expecting a franchise guy like Eichel and Matthews after missing the playoffs once is ridiculous. I'm not expecting anything until the Wings next wave of dmen are stepping into the NHL. If they're all looking like busts than ya I'll start to panic

Kucherov says some Tampa players "got their money and stopped working"
joesuffP replied to Wing Across The Pond's topic in General
Actually I agree. Just pointing out how crazy it is that NFL owners can just release a contract whenever they like. What kind of contract is that where you're guaranteed nothing. I know some top players have guaranteed money nowadays but it's nothing compared to the full contract I do think NHL owners should have a little more wiggle room with contracts though. -

Be like the NFL and just cancel a contract at any time -
Absolutely no more wingers

Doc Emerick is the worst by far imo

All these coaches achieved similar results as Blashill with twice as much talent all in their prime. Completely different circumstance

The whole season has been disappointing but it's okay to say the organization expects a lot more from Mrazek. Special teams and goaltending is the difference in how we made the playoffs last year compared to being one of the worst teams in the league this year -
Elbows, leaves his feet and then won't fight. I like what LA did there tho
-
Honestly that team was kinda crap. They did well under Babcock's gameplan and scored ugly goals and were high energy but they were outplayed for the most part. Could have easily lost that Ducks series with their 3 OT wins. Still one of the most entertaining runs

Pretty sad but I'm handling it better than I expected As far as firing Blashill goes... He's infuriated me at points this season but I'm not sure having a revolving door of coaches for young players is such a good idea. It took a full season but he's starting to trust guys like AA, Mantha and they're performing without Z. The real problem imo is the defense. Blashill can get them to play competent enough to win for 5 game stretches but you see them come off the hinges a lot and when that happens the team simply cannot win games. That comes from inexperience and also some vets being a disappointment. The worst thing going forward is to throw another coach and continue with the same struggles. The reward could be the team would respond to a new coach and immediately thrive but I doubt theirs much a coach can do for this roster

Dekeseyer wants no part in playing the puck, he just launches to no one in particular as soon as he can When all is said and done, Ericsson's career>Dekeseyer -

Dekeseyer needs to learn how to block shots -
The Defense has zero offensive zone game. Pass the puck D to D and then throw it in the corner. Forwards have better point shots

Thanks for the info idk why but I have invested interest in Saarijarvi particularity

What's up with Saarijarvi ?

Tatar is a fine player and will demand a nice contract to stay in Detroit. He's already expressed how he wanted to leave and he'll fetch a good return next deadline. Hopefully Holland doesn't do something silly -
Tomas Jurco traded to Chicago for a 3rd rounder

I think it came down to his back issues but I'm happy we gave him every opportunity here in Detroit, got a 3rd for him and it wasn't a system/coaching issue -

Mantha has never played well without Zetterberg carrying him and now Tatar and Nyquist look better with Z so Mantha is SOL. It's no excuse for somebody with his potential to be a non factor unless he's playing with the best player who scores with whomever on his line. I'm all for the tough love. Sure it isn't fair in terms of other players not getting demoted but I expect a hell of a lot more from Mantha. He's essentially play 15 great games all season and just hung around on z's wing the rest -

Larkin has looked a lot better as of late. Still forcing plays but actually making things happen on the forecheck -
How are the Avalanche that far behind for last place it's ridiculous.? Anyways finishing 2nd last and firing Blashill is best case scenario for this team at this point
-
Wings come out for a game motivated like 1 of every 7 games this season and this is one of them
-
I consider a power forward a big strong guy that takes pucks to the net. So guys like Rick Nash, Simmons, Malkin... all fall in that category to me just by my definition. Punching people is whatever to me Concerning Larkin.. I think Blashill is focused on teaching young players with potential but he's just terrible at it. I don't think he's just dumb. He sees guys with a good future like AA and Larkin but his methods are off
