Well Sheahan doesn't provide any scoring. The only thing keeping him in the lineup is that he's a centre. Inserting Jurco for Sheahan would take a lot of line juggling but I think Sheahan is the most deserving of being scratched if we're trying to insert a scoring third liner onto the team

People acting like it would be some miracle for him to be a regular NHLer... Getting pretty ridiculous. I think he can step in and be a competent third liner and add a lot of size. Going forward with age he can move his way into the top six pretty easily, if not oh well. Hes already a third liner imo

Mrazek is most likely going to go to arbitration in the summertime so keeping Jimmy for the year will keep his salary down. Good situation for us

They're alright. I like the white gloves I think it will look cool to see all the guys wearing them out on the ice. I think it would be neat for the red wings to not wear red and white for once though. Or to play with the idea of the very vintage small red wing logo. Winter classic jersey's were much nicer of course. Makes me want to go out and get one actually

Why would you give up so much for 1 year of Buff... then you get market value for the guy which will gouge our team for like 3 years. Getting a guy under contract is key It's unbelievable how many great defensemen we missed out on that are doing great for their new teams. Holland and co have a good eye for defensemen, just can't cash in Bouwmeester, Niskanen, Suter... We'd look like a real contender with one of these guys right now... or if CBJ took that offer for Nash, I believe it was Flippula, Nyqvist, Smith

Isn't Ekblad from Michigan? The bottom four didn't really matter to me. Hard to say what are defense will look like in two years, especially when we get Ekblad.... isn't he from Michigan?

Wings just have to get really lucky. Like Ekbald refusing to resign with Panthers. Could you imagine? We'd have an amazing core all around the same age. In 2 years... Nyquist-Larkin-Ladd Mantha-AA-Abby Jurco-Z-Pulkinnen Helm-Glen-Bertuzzi DD-Ekbald Kronwall-Green Ericsson-Marchenko

We're starting to find our next core with Larkin and Mrazek. Just need to be patient and see what AA, Mantha and Jurco are capable of. Problem is I'm not seeing any high end talent on defense coming up

I just don't like the make up of this team when we have Nyqvist, Tatar and Pulkinnen are our scorers. One of them has to go, and I say Pulkinnen because the others are better. He is doing well and that's great for the team but Nyqvist and Tatar could put up better numbers in that role and be a more balanced player against better players. I'm thinking Tatar is the most likely to be traded though We need more offence from the defense and another guy like Abby with a better scoring touch

Lowest ice time of all forwards? Don't think that's right. Point is that Nyqvist and Tatar are clearly better players offensively and defensively. Nyqvist's minutes are going down despite having the most goals on the team (until Larkin got his eighth) We've got two 30 goal scorers playing the third line in favour of a guy that has less than 10 career goals that can't play D, forecheck or make any plays and is a midget. So either Blashill has a boner for him or he's being showcased

I agree We are too small and he's been gifted a top six role over better players that have proven something at the NHL level. If he didn't get that OT winner, he had a generally bad game in all three zones of the ice. Blashill utilizing him this way makes me genuinely concerned about his decision making if him and management don't have some plan for him. Swap Nyqvist/Tatar and move Pulks at third line and what happens? The second line is much better and the third line is much worse. What does this tell you about Pulkinnen? Why is this unproven rookie being carried to success over the good of the team?

I hope the plan is to pad Pulkinnen's stats and trade him. Blashill's use of him this year is like Babs with Glendening.... and Blash's use of glendening

Yeah, especially starting the season with such a dense schedule, guys coming back from injury and the age of our core players the schedule did us no favours. At least they're mostly home games

imo Glendenning, Sheahan and Helm are all better grinders than Miller.

So does Z have like 2 goals in his last like 40 games.... getting a little ridiculous

I thought Richards was one of our better forwards. He has the ability to make plays in tight, something we need more of Blash's lines make no sense to me. All our grit is on the 4th line except Abby and Helm>Abby right now. I bet inserting him up the lineup would make a big difference in our energy
