That's not true. Daley gets 1/2 D minutes, and a ton of SH ice time too. 2nd to Green. Mike Green was a 3rd pairing defenseman for Washington before he came here. Just because we use him in the 1D role doesn't mean he is one. Put DK, Daley in that role and let Green walk away and one of Hickets or Cholo come in to take roles a little below that and it wouldn't really make a difference. Maybe our PP hurts a bit but oh well. Point is I saw complaints for Daley last season. Yet Daley is CHEAPER than Mike Green and plays about the same ice time as he does. 2nd most on the team actually. Daley is a bigger bang for his buck. In fact Daley is a former PP specialist when he played for Pittsburgh. If Green walks, Daley takes the point on the PP. And subsequently his point totals would increase as well. Green and Daley are about the same player, one is better defensively (Daley), one is better offensively (Green). Daley is the cheaper one. Except Daley is more versatile since he's technically both a PK and PP specialist.

They do have their own, just not sure if it's finished yet. The District is still being built. I drove by today on the way home and the structure looked finished from the outside, but who knows about the inside. For now, I would assume they're own isn't ready yet.

The franchise thinks he has 1C potential. I also think Larkin is a little overrated around here. He's good, I like him. But he's nowhere close to being elite. Shooting % is awful. Defensively he's good (not Datsyuk or Zetterberg level though). Has speed to his advantage; probably his greatest asset, though he's not much of a possession player around 50% on his corsi. Decent on faceoffs (will probably get better though). Not a PPG player either. On a good team he would be a 2C. If that's all he's going to be then to me that doesn't really spell out "untouchable". Even if he improves in some of those aspects (he will), it's not something that's guaranteed. What's guaranteed is Karlsson with his proven track record. Either way if we lose Larkin for Karlsson July 1 then we push hard for Tavares. If that doesn’t work then push for another center the following year. Like I said, Seguin, Backstrom, Couture are all pending UFAs and could hit the market. If by then they don’t Ras could be in the line up. And by then we should continue drafting a center or two. It’s not like we give up Larkin and just don’t do anything about it. We continue to actively develop Ras, draft and push UFAs. Lots of star centers on expiring contracts btw. I’d rather be handicapped in the center position than Defense. Nashvill made the finals. We haven’t even gotten past the first or second round since Lidstrom.
