  1. 2002 Hasek VS. 2008 Osgood? Not even in the same realm. Osgood played his ass off in 2008 and i love the guy, but Hasek in 2002 was a top 3 goalie in the league. Osgood was let go to bring him in. 2002 Hasek beats 2008 Osgood in any game that comes down to goaltending. Z and Dats were great players then no doubt, but they faced Ellis, Theodore, Turco, and Fleury in each round. 2002 Hasek would have been much harder to beat than any of those. Put younger Smyth winner Lidstrom and Chelios in front, can't see it happening.
  2. Hahaha hell of a GDT. You know the Wings suck, that's for sure. Keep it up boys!!
  3. In the sense that no one could have predicted that what happened did, yes. The trade was turned down at first and there were no other teams in need of goaltending, so I figured he'd still be around. No reason to think otherwise, really. It was pure fluke luck for Holland, that's for sure. He shoulda bought a lottery ticket, all numbers 34.
  4. You get pretty worked up over an internet msg board, huh? Mrazek was traded so i'm supposed to be "wrong" about him? I'm just over it. He's a talented goalie who screws s*** up for himself, even after a fresh start. All the talent in the world doesn't matter when your head is elsewhere every couple games. Only thing i'm wrong about is thinking he'd smarten up eventually. I'm not wrong that he's a good goalie talent wise. I don't think many would say he isn't.
  5. Yep, I was wrong because things aligned absolutely perfect for a trade another GM wasn't interested in making. Even when his starter was sidelined and he planned to ride his backup, but was then forced into the trade when his backup crapped out a couple games later. You'd think Holland secretly practices voodoo, and poked just the right spot at just the right moment on his Neuvirth doll.
  6. Not trying to be an ass, but it is pointless. We still clearly have goaltending issues on this team without him, so why not talk about those, like how much Coreau sucks and shouldn't even be in the NHL?
  7. No, Mrazek being traded actually had better odds than a Tavares signing, although bad odds still. Had the fluke of Philly's goalies both being broken at once not happened, he'd still be in Detroit.
  8. Why is that? It doesn't matter. He's gone. No point arguing about his performance anymore, is there?
  9. Detroit could afford Tavares, but i'd put the chances of him signing here at zero. Love to be proven wrong though...
  10. When a guy goes from great to elite to bad to great to bad to great to bad, etc. , it isn't that simple though. There's reasons some of us still held out hope for him. But it doesn't matter anymore. All that matters to me now is tank.

    Drafted First rounders

Yep, definitely a massive package that turned a franchise around in exchange for a player that wasn't willing to play for them anyways. Nords were far and away the winners of the deal. Even if Lindros had given in and played for Quebec, I don't know if he and Sakic would have gotten along very well. Sakic was reportedly unimpressed with his attitude after the snub and didn't want him on the team if he clearly didn't want to be there. Who knows how long Lindros would have been a Nord for if he became locker room trouble. Deadmarsh, man I hated that guy after he iced the Wings season in the first round Game 6 OT against LA. What a collapse that was. Yeah that is interesting about Bert. the Isles had a few great draft picks that moved on and became stars. Bertuzzi, Chara, Luongo.
  12. Statistically he beat Lyon, but yes, he finished the game, Mrazek did not.

    Bad Fans?

This. I used to hunt for a good stream an hour before game time every game night, but now i'll just check NHL.come for the box score. Playoffs, in the contending years, were always games i'd look forward to for days. No excitement like that right now. Things will get better, this was inevitable with a salary capped league. We all saw it coming. One thing I do take some comfort in though, is knowing how many years past the introduction of the cap this team contended for, even making the WCF in '07, winning the Cup in '08, and coming within one game of repeating in '09. Missed the playoffs for the first time in 2016-17. That's a hell of a lot more success and longetivity than most "experts" and "insiders" thought the Wings would ever have. Pretty sure many thought they'd be a league doormat within a few seasons of the cap coming in.

    Drafted First rounders

True enough, as long as the Roy trade still happened. That was the move that finally put them over the top. They were stacked mainly due to the package from Lindros though. Peter Forsberg, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Steve Duchesne and Kerry Huffman, "future considerations" which eventually became enforcer Chris Simon, two first-round picks and US$15 million. One of the firsts became Jocelyn Thibault, who was eventually traded for Roy. Made a league doormat into a contender almost instantly. They had drafted Sakic, Nolan, and Sundin, but Nolan was traded a few games into the first season in Colorado, and Sundin was traded prior to their final season in Quebec. Had Lindros stuck around, Sundin and Nolan kept, and the Roy deal still happened, it's very possible. The real question though, is would any of you ever rock a Nords jersey in public? They did have some sweet looking jerseys, especially the home white, but I dunno if I could actually wear one. Could handle owning one though.
  15. They both stunk though. Could have just been because it was a game in Detroit. He's been yanked before in Philly and took it in stride.
  16. This is true. You usually don't see goalies get pulled in a 3-1 game. The fact that it was in his return to Detroit def makes it worse too. Guess the coaches felt a change might spark the team to actually play hockey. No reason to yell at the coach in front of your team on camera though, even though his anger is probably justified. I know Petr is a fierce competitor and did it heat of the moment, but it doesn't look very good. I remember saying the same when Howard did it earlier this season. But it does show he wants to play hockey and win games, so it can be taken that way as well.
  17. Yeah, they'll re-sign him after this season, cause they trust in his process.

    Drafted First rounders

Lindros was such a whiner about the Quebec thing. Funny how them being forced to move him resulted in that franchise winning two Cups and being a perennial contender, while Lindros himself only got to the Finals once, where his team was quickly swept. But had he stayed in Quebec, that Avs powerhouse wouldn't have happened, so he may not have won a Cup anyways. He was a hell of a player though. I remember how much hype surrounded him in the OHL and the NHL draft, even as a ten year old kid.

Has Blashill finally lost the team?

He can take his love child Howard with him too. No compensation, part of the severance package.

3/16 GDT | Detroit Red Wings @ Anaheim Ducks | 10 PM ET

Least Witkowski hasn't. Guy gives zero f***s, and i dig it. Re-sign please.
  21. Dump Coreau and give Matej a shot I say. McCollum can stay where he is no matter what. he's not even worth giving Calgary that 7th rounder. All good. Mrazek is ******* it up for himself in Philly. Yelling at the coaching staff after he was pulled won't help him either. Some Flyers fans weren't too quick to blame him for tonight though, their D was atrocious and the whole team came out flat.
  22. Hahaha Damn, he was pissed when he got pulled tonight. Didn't see the game, but reading some things from Flyers fans, they say their D was s*** in front of him, and the rest of the team didnt really start playing till partway through the second, so he kinda had a right to be mad. Second goal was on him, but first and third was the D. Whatever, good job yelling at the coaches of a team you recently joined. I know this one stings for him, but he may have just got himself benched until Elliott comes back, then maybe a seat in the stands after that. Petr, Petr, Petr....
  23. Holland shouldnt have say anything at this point. The direction is clear, tank er.

Has Blashill finally lost the team?

Everytime i hear a Holland to Seattle rumour it makes my day. Time to get Fraud GM out of Detroit. Love to see how he does building a roster from scratch. Damn that would be entertaining. haha
