    Karlsson on the move?

Dahlin apparantly defends like Lidstrom, skates like Karlsson. Great open ice hitter. But he’s only 185 lbs. better start packing on some muscle now if he wants to hit with the big boys.

Kronwall is still here to learn from. Lol I understand starting higher on a player, but asking for a 2nd for a fourth liner would just make me hang up the phone. I’d think the guy was high.

Andddd guess who Yzerman took with that first? Vasilevskiy. Hahaha
  4. Well, he won’t win every game he plays, or play every game. He is their starter at this point, but Lyon will get to play as well. But ya, Flyers fans trolling on that one. Also saying when Elliott is ready they’ll rotate goalies in the playoffs somehow so Mrazek doesn’t hit the 8 win mark if/when they make the ECF so the third is all they have to hand over. Which is pretty much the highest pick Detroit will get out of it anyways I figure. Theyre trolling. But they sure do seem happy and think Mrazek was a steal because he was heating up and due to their current prospect pool and pile of upcoming draft picks. A third rounder is nothing.

The fact that Holland told the Leafs he wanted a 2nd for a fourth liner still baffles me. He’s worth more than a 5th, but not a 2nd. Im not surprised the Leafs didn’t bite.

Heh last time I agreed with you about not needing cap space, everyone jumped on it. But I still agree. Holland will have some open cap. Maybe he can make a few moves after the deadline for lower value guys and clear some more. I said before the Mrazek trade that he may take less to stick around due to his value being lower, but many didn’t agree with that. With Green, his value isn’t low. Once he hits UFA he’ll get offers for at least what he was making in Detroit, maybe a bit more if there’s a bidding war. I can’t see him turning down that kinda money to sign in Detroit for $3-4 million per heading into a rebuild. I’m sure he’d like to win a Cup sooner than later. The one thing that may make him resign in Detroit for less (if he really likes it that much there) would be if he won a Cup with the team he was traded to this deadline. As for not really wanting him back, he can’t help much with the current roster headed for bad times. Save the money. Play one of the kids instead.

And his new black/orange/white whatever combo equipment. I’m guessing he’s got a set on the way. All black would be cool, but knowing him, Probly white with orange.

That didn’t work out. Still got another unneeded point though. Dropping further down the draft order slowly. But of course. Is this for ******* real?? Hahaha

    Rumors Thread

I expect any cap space Kenny opens up to be promptly blown on needless vets like he always does. Holland is a dangerous when he has cash to blow. Could never help himself. Hopefully he’s smarter this offseason. As for Green, why re-sign him as a UFA if he’s traded for picks, which needs to happen? You think he’ll take less than he’s making now? Doubt that, he’ll have other teams throwing money at him. Far as I’m concerned, Holland shouldn’t be bringing back any former Wings anymore unless they’re truly stuck and it’s the only viable option. Once they’re gone, leave it alone.
  10. I looked for a bit but couldn’t find it. Only bits about trying to change parts of his game, which he had a hard time with and didn’t respond too well to attitude wise. Othef tning I came across was that he really wasnt happy that Holland couldn’t/wouldn’t trade Howard, and pretty much told him so. Howard’s contract sucks, but he wasn’t willing to budge on not retaining salary. Of course he would have had to retain salary on that contract to move it. No other way. He could have got it done. Can’t fault Mrazek for being a bit pissed that the starter he supposedly replaced was still around cause Holand sucks at the cap. I remember the Hasek/Joseph thing was tense to say the least. How she goes. But anyways, it’s all in the past. Mrazek is gone and he’s happy. Won his first start as a Flyer, allowing one goal. 4 more wins and a playoff berth and the Wings get their third. This is pure speculation, but some Flyers fans are saying they think Hextall will cut him off after 4 wins before the playoffs to make the fourth stick. Even if he makes the playoffs, but only wins 4 games, pick stays as is. I’m sure they won’t pull that s*** though. Resigning might happen though ,if they like him and the Wings get the other third. Neuvirth is always injured, Hextall is fed up, and they may be finished with him and go forward with Elliott and Mrazek instead.
  11. Too little too late shouldn’t be a problem for a rebuilding team with an injury prone starter in a slump, and the only other option besides Mrazek being Coreau. Cap space and that pesky qualifier though. Too bad all those s***ty contracts Holland has handed out force him to keep old dead weight and trade younger players. When’s the Tatar and AA trades going down?
  12. Howard WAS the starter. Just because he sucked it doesn’t give him a free pass. Mrazek is automatically expected to shoulder the load for Jimmy when he may not be ready for it? First full season. Yeah he’s absolutely ready. Not coaches fault, but didn’t help him much. Same coach or not, if you try to change a goalies style in the course of a season, maybe expect some problems. Howard and Coreau. Fine. Then who? McCollum? His bitterness isn’t the entire cause but the length of time he was given before he was expendable makes it seem partly to blame.
  13. Yep, pure bulls***. Salajko was his coach in GR. Big deal. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t trying to get him to change his style of play. Mrazek’s frustrations and “attitude” stemmed from that. That’s pretty well known. Not uncommon for bad blood to build in tense contract negotiations where the GM is offering $2.85 million per and the player wants $5 million per. When Mrazek’s play fell off after that deal, i’m sure that didn’t help. If you don’t think the trade was pushed, you haven’t been keeping up. And why would you leave your goalie options so thin? If Howard gets hurt it’s gonna be Coreau and McCollum handling things. Let that sink in a bit. There was more to this than not wanting to qualify him at $4 million, though it was a factor. Do you read other boards and opinion articles? Lots of stuff out there. But I’m sure everyone’s only speculating.
  14. Your right, it doesn’t explain it. But it was his first season as the starting goaltender. He’s not the first to bomb his first season as a starter. He was Howard’s backup the year before. It was his first full season. He played as often as he did because he took the job away at first. Then his play fell off. He was the backup, he shouldn’t have been expected to win all those games. That was Howard’s role. Also, there were coaches trying to get him to change his style of play. One that he learned over years and years. It’s hard to just change your whole playing style when your a goalie in a short amount of time. He worked hard over the summer on it. Had he been given a string of starts earlier this season, we may not even have this thread going. They gave up on him strangely quickly and pushed him hard to the Flyers, leaving them with Howard and Coreau as the only possible NHL options in the system right now. Any future NHL talent isn’t ready yet, and won’t be for awhile. There was more to it than just his play and RFA qualifier, although those factored in. When he dragged out negotiations with Holland instead of taking his cap friendly bridge deal, I don’t think Holland ever really got over it. That started the chain of events that led to this. I’d say there were faults on both sides. Holland’s and Mrazek’s.
  15. Yep. At least we’d get a worthwhile return then.
  16. Mrazek says he’s happy to join the Flyers, says his improvement over the last little while was due to working hard and getting MORE STARTS. Who would have guessed it? "The last two months were better for our team in Detroit," said Mrazek, who was 72-58-20 with a 2.60 GAA and .912 save percentage in six seasons with Detroit. "I got to play more, had the chance to play more minutes. … I didn't play much the first half of the season and I think it was tough for me to find a game when I played once in two weeks, once in three weeks. I think it was tough. "During that stretch, I worked hard on the ice and tried to improve my game, and I think in the last two months the game was in the right direction." Flyers fans seem pretty pumped on their boards. Wings fans chiming in on there saying Holland f***ed up. We will see..

    2/18 GDT - Maple Leafs @ Red Wings - 7:00 PM EST

As I said, the deal was done if Hextall wanted him. And he did. I had hope he didn’t, but how could he refuse that kind of deal once he knew Neuvirth was out 4-6 weeks to go along with Elliott out for even longer?

That’s it? Wonder what the conditions are?
  19. They also had other better options to pick from than Nosek, but still took him. A few of their picks were weird. Heh that’s pretty cool! Goalies need to stop being ******* and bring back the full face fiberglass.
  20. Holland also said they aren’t contenders, but not far away. Denial is still strong with the guys in charge. He’s still young. Has all the tools to greatly increase that number.

No, we don’t need cap space, which is the reason the Mrazek trade was pointless right now, and a Tatar trade would be pointless right now. Nothing wrong with Glenny. He has his role. Just saying Holland asking for a 2nd rounder for a fourth liner is crazy, especially after what he gave Mrazek away for. I honestly think there was more to that trade than the matter of a $4 million qualifier. I mean, Holland really pushed that deal with Hextall, even before Neuvirth went down, and took conditional picks and kept half the salary. Made it very hard not to accept. Holland probably still had some dislike for him after he wouldn’t cave to a lower, more cap friendly salary and dragged out contract negotiations. They were quite far apart at first. When his work ethic and attitude problems were made public, coupled with his expansion draft exposure, they were good hints things weren’t good between them. Oh well.
  22. So its been confirmed that Neuvirth is out 4-6 weeks for Philly. Elliott a bit longer. Huge opportunity for Mrazek there. Tatar said he talked to him after the trade and he seemed happy and excited about the fresh start. Holland also said something like “Were not contenders, but we’re not far away.” Wow man. Denial at its finest. But he also said he’s not focused on this season or next. Hopes to be better by 2019-20. Least there’s that...

Some are immovable. Abby wouldn’t get taken on with his deal by anyone. Would have a hard time moving Nielson with his contract too. Maybe when he’s got 1-2 years left on it.
  24. He better not ever leave. Would be a travesty.
  25. That just looks so wrong as a Wings fan first. Yet still cool to me as a Flyers fan second. I’m conflicted. Once he gets different gear, it’ll be easier. Haha I wonder how he feels? I have a feeling he’s pretty happy for a fresh start and playoff push.
