trade Wings acquire SJ prospect Dylan Sadowy

I read that too, but didn't get it directly from Holland. However, I believe he will start in GR next season, it makes the most sense. -
2016 SCF: San Jose Sharks vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Of course you'll go with the Sharks. Unless you wan't to see lots of pictures where Cindy violates the cup again. Brett Burns on the other hand, drinking soup from the cup outside a homeless shelter food stand works for me. I say Sharks. -
ECF : Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

The best team won game 7, not much to argue about there. Whatever opinion we have about them they did deserve their spot in the finals. The thought of Cindy getting another chip rattles me a little though, I hope the Bob's & the Joe's drop Pittsburgh. -
Bob Thornton in the finals? I'll be damned. Didn't see that coming when the playoffs began. But gotta tip my hat to the Sharks, especially their offense has looked really sharp, they capitalize on their chances and often it's a quick one-touch goal. Very hard to defend against.

Ease off speculative fellow wings. You are delusional if you think Toronto will draft anyone else but Austin Matthews. And this is coming from someone who wrote that Laine should be drafted first. Both picks will be great in a few years. Let's hope our scouting staff can find us another Larkin (15th).

Cindy Crosby played like she can when she's in the mood for some. This might be considered blasphemy in here but I prefer Pittsburgh in the finals. I almost always prefer a northern team. -
I'm not ignoring you on this one, just haven't been able to formulate what makes Nyquist shameful/regressing overall, not the IIHF worlds where he scored enough there to be on par, despite going invisible in some games where he faced tougher competition. I have been thinking about this and will try to find the time to analyze what made him fall off the curve as he did, as it was rather unexpected statistically, which ticks my interest. Unfortunately I'm quite busy with a school thesis and may not be able to deliver in time (preseason), but will try.

I hear you and saw what you saw. I have ruptured my MCL+ACL, same knee. The MCL was slightly torn prior, a violent slash crashed the entire knee. Those late minute slashes to the Russki was overly nasty, wouldn't have minded a game penalty.
-
Yup. Just too much talent. Your folks put up a good fight, but couldn't upset.

Connor McJesus lit up the Fins, Canada leads the IIHF final 1-0 after the first period. An overabundance of young high end talent on the Canadian team. Most of the players are primary in their position on their teams in the NHL or will be within a few seasons. If anyone needs a link (hq 720p) send me a pm.
-
Good job by the Fins. They do play very dirty though, I couldn't even keep count with all the slashes and crosschecks that weren't called. We get to see Laine again on Sunday, very nice. As for how Sweden did compared to Finland, I'd say they are.. Exactly were they were supposed to be, out at the quarter finals, regardless who they were to face there. Not very good.
-
Finland advancing over Russia to the finals, 3-1. I suppose Miksteri can review the game for us, something tells me he'll post here shortly.

I'm certainly cherry picking Nyquist. Not because I think he's bad, quite the opposite, I have high expectations of him. I don't think he should be a decent secondary scorer, I think he can be a decent primary scorer. Hence I am knocking on him when he's not delivering what I think he can do. With that said I can't complain regarding his overall performance in the IIHF. What I'm sharking on is when he tends to go invisible in some games. As for better numbers than Datsyuk, that's bad info. Datsyuk(1g, 7a) and Nyquist (7g, 1a) is currently tied at 8 points and Dats will very probably overtake him since Sweden is out. But those numbers only tells me that NHL caliber players rack up points against easy opposition.
-
Gustav Nyquist played 18:47 and yet I couldn't see him out there. Somehow he managed a +/-0. Yes, he has scored a lot in this tournament (7) but it was against easy opponents. This was another shameful display.
-
Knew I forgot something. Marchenko looked Really good. He was way more offensive than I have seen him be in the Wings system and can clearly play aggressively in the attacking zone. Looking forward to see him expand that next season, if he's still around which I hope he is. Also, Datsyuk with a goal and an assist.
-
Russia bested Sweden 4-1 and was clearly faster and more skilled. Nyquist was -1 and played 16:45 minutes. A cordial display.

Thx for the updates. Too bad the Griffs couldn't force a game 7, would have been great if our up'n'comers would have gotten a few more competitive games under their belts. Really looking forward to what AA will do with regular nice minutes. The kid is a dynamo with superb acceleration, he will do wonders against especially older, heavier defensemen on open ice. Wouldn't mind him winging Larkin, maybe on the second line?

Keep us updated, if possible, I couldn't find a feed for this one..

Great win, Bertuzzi looks to have that knack to put them in and has a heart, nice to see and hope he gets a chance. I am a little concerned over the swings in this series, but haven't analyzed it enough to voice on them and I won't. For what it is, meaning to take a close look at our prospects, I think it looks promising overall. I do agree Mantha probably will take a little longer than "normal" to bloom, so I'm guessing he'll peak in his later twenties. With that size, I'm willing to wait while he settles in and fills up, the payoff would justify it.
-
I ain't calling no sides but wouldn't mind seeing the Bob's & the Joe's battling in the finals. They have shown lots of heart in the playoffs. Deserve a shot, them Sharks.

WCSF : Nashville Predators vs. San Jose Sharks
Jacksoni replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Having watched the extended highlights of this game, Shae Weber just lost a million or two I would reckon based on this game. It looked like he fled the battlefield. Nice looking series coming up between St.Louis & the Sharks. -
Larkin with a beautiful goal in the USA 5-1 win over Hungary. Dead angle, aims at the back/side of the goalie on purpose to bounce it in. A fine display of awareness and skill. +3 rating as well.
-
Sweden won over Kazakhstan 7-3. Gustav Nyqvist had a hat trick and an assist. A glorious display!
-
Regarding Radulov, in my opinion the strategy is simple. We need him. Badly. If we can get him for a decent price, it is a no brainer. Me, as many in here are, know that his attitude may be a problem. But that's something we are going to have to deal with, if we can land him. He would be a Significant upgrade in talent, with no picks or trades involved.

Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread
Jacksoni replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
That's right. Just empty the Trouba possibility from the list. It sucks, but that's the way it is. Time for Kenny Holland to focus on Anaheim and Lindholm/Fowler/Vatanen, in desired order.
