A lot of deals going down recently, I wonder if Yzerman joins the fray, or stands pat again? that could be a bad decision to stand pat. -
2025 NHL Draft - June 27-28 ; To Tank or Not To Tank

I am not sure if it is a coincidence, but when I see the sight is down, I message Matt on facebook and then it goes back up. (the message never shows "read" so it just might be a coincidence, but I will keep doing it each time either way! Boys look good! what are they under McClellan, 14-4-1, so that is actually better than good! If they can continue winning 14 out of every 19 or so games, they should be solidly in the playoffs. That would project another 21 wins in the final 29 games. 48 win season? I'll take it. BTW, my 17 year old is having all four wisdom teeth removed tomorrow morning! Routine, I know, but I am a bit nervous. Keep us in your thoughts!

2025 Trade Deadline March 7 - Playoffs? Buy or Sell or Build?
LeftWinger replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
Right now Detroit sits in the last playoff spot. 17th from the bottom, just out of the lottery picture. If this trend continues, I am more than ok trading a #1 pick for a top 6 forward or D upgrade. If they finish in the range of 17 to 20 and still retain the pick, the player I am particularly interested in is Ivan Ryabkin, a 17-year-old center from Russia who is currently competing in Muskegon. He is on track to achieve a points-per-game average in the USHL and has previously played for MHK Dynamo, where he accumulated 58 points in 44 games. Additionally, he served as captain of the under-17 World Junior team, recording 11 points in 6 games. Currently, he holds the 19th position on McKenzie's January rankings list. -
2025 Trade Deadline March 7 - Playoffs? Buy or Sell or Build?
LeftWinger replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
If they are solidly in by deadline, I wouldn't mind a deal involving a expiring UFA Defenseman or top 6 forward. I kind of think it's a must at that point. We learned last season, one injury and it all comes crashing down. I still wouldn't mind a defenseman like Lindgren either. Could Boeser be an option at RW? -

We could've used those two from Philly. I wonder what our comparisons could've been... -
Red Wings GDT : Season 98, Episode 50 ; Kings in a Jester's Court

Los Angeles Kings (26-14-6) vs. Detroit Red Wings (23-21-5) When: Monday, January 27 Time: 7 p.m. ET Where: Little Caesars Arena (Detroit, Mich.) Channel: FanDuel Sports Network Detroit Extra, NHL Network DETROIT -- As the curtain rises on the final act of their brief three-game homestand, game #50 of the season has the Detroit Red Wings preparing for a formidable challenge as they host the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. Although the Red Wings faced a daunting struggle during their recent road trip, managing to secure only one victory out of four matches, they have undeniably rebounded since their return home. After a significant triumph over the Montreal Canadiens, Detroit, led by a spectacular 28-save shutout from Cam Talbot, took down the Tampa Bay Lightning—merely a week after succumbing to the Bolts in Florida. With another pivotal road swing looming on the horizon, securing victories at home is imperative for a Red Wings team still striving to claw their way back into the playoff race. Heading into Monday night, the Wings currently occupy the seventh position in the Atlantic Division, remaining four points adrift of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. On the other hand, the Kings find themselves in a considerably more advantageous position than Detroit. Thanks to the team’s solid defensive structure and stellar performances from key players like goaltender Darcy Kuemper and Anze Kopitar, Los Angeles has managed to hover near the top of the Pacific Division. The Kings currently stand third in the Pacific, trailing the first-place Edmonton Oilers by seven points. This encounter marks the second and final meeting this season between the Wings and Kings, with L.A. victorious in their initial clash in Hollywood back in November. Will the Red Wings seize the moment? The stage is set for an exhilarating showdown! DETROIT RED WINGS TOP 10 LA KINGS TOP 10 RED WINGS 50th (and 51st) GAME(s) HISTORY The 50th game of the 1987-1988 regular season had the Red Wings playing the Toronto Maple Leafs in a Norris Division matchup of bitter rivals! The game ended in a 3-3 tie, but the fisticuffs ran wild in this classic "Fight Night at The Joe!" In a fashion that resembles more recent versions of The Red Wings, they held a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd period, only to be outscored 3-1, with Eddie Olczyk netting the tying goal with 3 seconds left to play in regulation! This was the first game of a classic Norris division Home and Home series on consecutive nights. The following night at Maple Leaf Garden in Toronto, the teams battled to a 5-5 tie. The Red Wings scratched their way to a 3-3 tie when John Chabot "Cha-boom" scored 2 goals in 2 minutes sending the teams into the 2 period break. Then after 2 goals in just over 3 minutes by Steve Chiasson and Steve Yzerman, again, with the Wings were holding a seemingly safe 5-3 lead only to give up 2 unanswered goals by (former Red Wing) Mark Osborne and (future yet brief Red Wing) Wendell Clark. I sure do miss these consecutive night Home and Home series' -

This team is gonna be ok. Just need the upgrades at 2C, 1LHD, 1G for the future. Whether that comes from within or trade, it needs to happen soon. At least by start of next season. -
Bump!

Its time for Detroit to make a trade or two. D upgrade and C upgrade. Young enough to remain here for multiple years. -

Detroit Red Wings (21-21-4) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (21-20-6) When: Tuesday, January 21 Time: 7 p.m. ET Where: Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia, Pa.) Channel: FanDuel Sports Network Detroit As the Detroit Red Wings prepare to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night, the stakes are high for both teams. After a promising start to their four-game road trip, which began with a victory over the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, the Red Wings have hit a rough patch. With back-to-back losses against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars—where they managed to score only two goals—they find themselves hungry for redemption. Currently sitting in seventh place in the Atlantic Division, the Red Wings are five points adrift of the last Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Their recent 4-1 defeat against the Stars not only extended their losing streak against this former rival to ten games but also served as a wake-up call. The team is eager to shift gears and regain momentum before they return home later this week. On the opposite side, the Flyers are in a similar position, but they come into this matchup riding a wave of confidence. With four wins in their last five games, Philadelphia is aiming to solidify its playoff aspirations and climb the standings. Currently, they sit sixth in the Metropolitan Division, just two points ahead of the Red Wings and three points shy of a Wild Card spot. This game marks the third and final meeting of the season between these two competitive squads, with one win apiece thus far. As the tension builds and both teams look to secure crucial points, fans can expect an exciting showdown filled with passion, strategy, and the relentless pursuit of victory. Tune in to watch the action unfold on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit! After a challenging period away from the NHL, Elmer Söderblom is finally making his return, and excitement is brewing in Detroit! The Red Wings have officially recalled the towering 6-foot-8 left winger from their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, just in time for tonight’s matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. Fans can catch the action at 7 p.m. on the FanDuel Sports Network. At just 23 years old, Söderblom has demonstrated significant promise during his time with the Griffins this season, racking up five goals and 12 assists over 38 games. His physical presence on the ice has also contributed to a solid plus-4 rating, proving that he can make an impact both offensively and defensively. With a track record featuring 23 goals and 31 assists across 119 games in the AHL, it's clear that Söderblom is ready to re-establish himself at the NHL level. Last season, Söderblom debuted with the Red Wings, showcasing his skill by netting a goal in his very first game against the Montreal Canadiens. Despite the setbacks he faced due to a lower-body injury, which curtailed his momentum early in the season, he managed to score a total of five goals and three assists in his 21 appearances. It’s no wonder the Red Wings were keen to give him another shot—they originally brought him up straight from the Swedish Hockey League after an impressive season with Frolunda. As he steps back onto the ice tonight, fans are eager to see how Söderblom will adapt and integrate into the Red Wings' lineup while contributing to the team's quest for victory on this critical road trip. His blend of size, strength, and skill could prove to be a game-changer as he helps fuel the Red Wings’ playoff aspirations. Welcome back, Elmer! 2024-25 In Season Trades/Waivers/Promotions Thread
LeftWinger replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
after a 7 game win streak, Wings are now 1-4 the last 5, it's time to start visiting trade talks again. The "NEW" coach smell has worn off. Need to upgrade D and top 6 positions. In reality they need a LHD and RHD. With ASP on the horizon, I guess we could get by with a LHD playing on the right side, but need that LHD side upgraded. Lindgren, Byram, Provorov? Up front, that #2 C spot needs addressed. Cozens is a legit choice for now and future. Unfortunately nobody is going to take Copp for 2 more season's, and he also has a bit on control to where he could be traded. -

Seems like he's in for Veleno? I don't see Veleno in this lineup...injured? about to be traded? -
Rasmussen was soft on Ferraro on that empty net goal. Trade!
-
I better turn it off.... dammit
-
so, they look like s*** in the only game I get to watch.... ugh!
-
just tuned in, why the heck is AHL Husso playing?
-
Serious question. With Kane's comments about Toews making a comeback, would Yzerman even dare to sign him to a "prove it" contract? Talk about trolling the Hawks hard!
-
I'm just saying that he'd be in any trade package that acquires us a Cozens or Byram or Andersson. Veleno as well.
-
Ya, the lineup I posted was from yesterday evening. So he could be ok today.
-
I'd have to go with keeping Finnie then. He's younger, taller, heavier. Granted he has yet to play a pro game and Lombardi is in his 2nd full season in GR. But if it meant upgrading the C or D position, a sacrifice would have to be made. Being honest though, I'd rather keep Soderblom over Rasmussen. I don't know what it is about him I do not like.
-
Update: Puckpedia has Husso back to being in GR, maybe Lyon is clear to dress?
