NHL Salary Cap Temporarily Set At $70.3 Million For 2012
LeftWinger replied to Diluvian04's topic in General
Which is why it is far more important to sign a Schultz @ $1.5M and let Quincey walk @ $3.5M...I'd rather have Doan than Semin, but something tells me Semin wouldn't cost $6.5M either...at least I would hope not... -
Well with 111 NCAA games, he is still better than Kindl in every which way, so if Kindl can hold down a #7, I am sure Schultz could easily take the #6 spot...Besides, if Stuart and Quincey both leave and Suter replaces Lidstrom (hopefully) there are two spots open that neither of which Kindl can fill, Smith will have one of them and that leaves a UFA for the #6. Why not gamble on Schultz? low risk, high reward... It's not like he is walking on and taking a spot from someone, Kindl is no better than a #7 he has had plenty of opportunity to climb the ladder, he hasn't done it...if Schultz doesn't work out, you have Kindl to fall back on until the deadline...low risk, high reward...

I am sure the fighting will be handled by Smith and Ericsson (if he decides to play to his potential) and the likes of Suter and/or Schultz (if they sign here) wouldn't have to worry about that...
-
For sure, I think if Holland gets Schultz a lot of folks will be surprised at how good he and Smith will play together...as long as Holland signs him for Detroit...Quincey must go though for that to happen...

Never will! Man we'd never have won those games without those GWG's! He had more than Pav and Hank combined! Throw this guy $7M!

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
LeftWinger replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Ahhhhh, Uncle Gary, is this what you envisioned with parity? Nah, no one wants to see Detroit and Pit duke it out again....forget Chicago and Boston...Ya, go Coyotes! Go Panthers! Ya Kings! Go Mickey Mouse Club! -
Doesn't matter what happened to Z, if Weber wants to be in Detroit and Holland wants him, he will be in Detroit...frankgrimes, do you realize the nasty things Chris Chelios has done to many of Detroit Red Wings in his career BEFORE he became a Detroit Red Wing? And yes, all while Steve Yzerman was the Captain...
-
Simple and needle sharp...he is not worth 4 first round draft picks...nobody is. I wouldn't even give 4 first round picks for Malkin or Ovechkin or Tavares or even Stamkos... If we were talking about one 1st and a 3rd...ya then for sure, but not 4 1st's...
-
I have said it before...Suter and Schultz on D...let Quincey go for picks or use him in a draft day swap of rights trading and Kindl (if not traded as well) will still be #7. Schultz and Smith on the third pairing will be awesome...much like when Suter and Weber came in together and have been a tandem pretty much ever since and are arguably the best combo in the NHL right now... These two youngsters together (again) will light up the ice and they could be cornerstones on this team for years to come...

Just say no to trading Helm...
-
Well from reading the Holland comments all I got to say is Of course I do not like the idea of re-signing Quincey, but whatever, so long it is not over $3.5M... again at Hudler parting ways! He may be worth $5M in Ottawa, but he isn't here. So long traitor! I have hated you since you held us hostage then bolted to Russia! I am on the fence about Brunnstrom re-signing, I will be a bit upset to lose Conner and Janik, but they never really got a shot here and I am sure they'd rather be in the NHL somewhere rather than GR. I love the "need for a top 6, 4th line big man, top pair defenseman, tough defenseman, NHL level backup goalie" Exactly what we need! I hope he gets them! Also, VERY intrigue over him saying he WILL make a deal at the draft for negotiating rights to UFA's if the price is right! And they will be making the UFA decisions within 10-15 mins on the 1st! Tighten that belt one more hole guys and hold on! Other than winning the Cup, this is the most exciting time of the year for me!!! (along with the trade deadline)

Died while traveling in Europe? Hostel anyone? J/K! Tragic for anyone to die so young! RIP!

I know he is very valuable to this team, but I just don't see $2M+...but hey, Holland paid Ericsson a lot hoping by time he hits his prime it will be a bargain, so maybe he'll do the same with Helm... regarding my earlier roster, I obviously lost Lidstrom and Vokoun, so I went with Harding and took the $6.2M that Lids would've made and tried to upgrade a bit with the extra cash. I got rid of Emmerton and Mursak, bumped Franzen back with Z and added Doan. Also figured I would try to upgrade my 4th line by having Moen on there, thus making Eaves and Miller the rotating 13th/14th forwards... In the end, I can do or don't without Moen, but would love to see Dats flanked by Parise and Doan... EDIT: Also, I am trying to keep it somewhat realistic...I would love to trade Franzen and Cleary, but I just don't think Holland feels the same as me!

...does anyone think that Blue is the user with most visit to capgeek.com? He has got to be their most loyal customer there. It's another nice fantasy roster, but again, Helm won't be traded...stranger things yes, but Helm is the aorta to the Heart of the Red Wings...Behind Pav and Hank, he is about the next most important forward...

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
LeftWinger replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
As much as I want to Wings to win the Cup every year possible, it will be nice to see a franchise win it for the first time ever! Oh, and I like how Gretzky leeches on to the Kings once again because they are going to win...could you imagine the Gretzky love fest that ABC/CBC would have if it were the Kings and Rangers? Sheesh! Sorry, just never liked Gretzky...f*** me! -

I don't doubt it, since Canadian teams rarely make it to the finals, they have to grab on to certain players, and Brodeur being Canadian and Quick being American, I guess they want the Devils to win...too bad CBC...just like Roy in 2002 when that is all you could talk about was his game 7 heroics from the past, well that game 7 was the worst played by ANY goalie EVER! And now your precious Marty will not hoist another...stranger things have happened, but down 3-0 in the finals? Buh-Bye! -

I think you can put a fork in the Devils...Now Brodeur can retire with LESS Cups than Lidstrom and Holmstrom and McCarty and Draper and Maltby.... Sorry Devils fans! -

Did you see Gretzky shaking hands with Parise at the start of the game? I swear I saw his lips say "Mickey Mouse Organization" followed by a "f*** Me!" -
Franzen is the best at nothing...best in the NHL? Have I mentioned Helm is a no trade? Helm will be Captain after Zetterberg retires, Helm is here for life...

neither does his team...he is probably thinking about Detroit! -
44....(i know it's been said, but that is the count I come up with too)
-
This exactly! If Holland is going to go with a Schultz over another seasoned D-Man (Wideman) then absolutely team him up with Smith (former teammates) but I think they would be #5/#6 instead of #3/#4. No bother though. Definitely Quincey needs to walk and Holland can get the compensation for him, that just makes the best sense in the whole Quincey situation. Sure would have been nice to have the #19 pick this year, but if Quincey signs somewhere else, we could have a top 10 next year! Perhaps a lottery!

Vokoun moved to Pittsburgh for a 7th Round pick.
LeftWinger replied to Diluvian04's topic in General
Exactly...I think Holland wants to stay around the $800-$1.2M range for a backup...I am glad he didn't trade and sign him for $2M... -
I'd trade Franzen and J. Andersson for Alex Burrows....oh wait, that wasn't the question... Sorry!

Nick is just downright impressive on and off the ice

I would assume it is the Detroit News/Free Press. EDIT: Yes, it was the Detroit Free Press...Yesterday's. 6-3-2012
