Mike Haynes has toned it down a bit but is still a jack wagon. He was far worse when he was announcing on the radio. One time I heard him call Darren McCarty a ****** bag on the air. His comments from last night's game have made national news & I'm sure he's catching crap for it. http://www.bing.com/search?q=avalanche+announcer&form=OSDSRC

Our friend @HockeyyInsiderr lists anti-lockout teams...
ElCapitan replied to Wing Across The Pond's topic in General
That's right, in any business/industry a great product, marketed properly, will be more profitable. That's how Ilitch rebuilt the Wings and (hopefully) that's what Pegula's plan of action is. I really enjoyed that video clip & if that's what Mr. I truly said...Amen. -
Federov never played for Colorado! When I first saw this I was a bit alarmed, thinking I had a bad case of amnesia, but then I realized you meant CBJ.

Thanks, got to see it in Austin this spring!

Especially with the style of game he's played over the years. I love Homer but really want to give the younger guys a chance.

This is what I posted over the current "Doan" thread: From Kukla's Korner: http://www.kuklaskor...n_standing_pat/ There's a lot of posturing going on, and almost all of the lack of player signings are out of anyone's control. It's almost like trying to control the weather. Good luck with that. If an appealing move can be made, I really think Holland will try. There just not that much above the crap line this year.

True. He was having a very good year (09-10) for Colorado & was traded to Phoenix for Mueller @ the deadline. Then he had 18 points in 18 games for Phoenix for the remainder of the year. I'm not sure what happened to him but he's been on a free-fall since. For 600K though...

I've always liked him. Hard-nosed & can play. He's had a lot of injuries but that comes with how he plays.

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
ElCapitan replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Yes, I meant Kocur, sorry. Tootoo is definitely more of an agitator, like Maltby. I wasn't referring to Tootoo's punching ability, rather his willingness to fight. Unless I'm mistaken, Tootoo fights way more than Maltby ever did. It will be nice to have a guy who will defend the cheep shots that I'm sick of seeing go without repercussion. -
Very well could be either way. My thinking was that if a KHL team is offering him 10 mil. that Semin thinks a "discount" or "lower amount" would be around 7-8 mil. Who really knows though.

Edit: Sorry this has already been posted. Per Mlive: http://www.mlive.com...camp_notes.html • Alexander Semin might be the most skilled unrestricted free agent still on the marketbut it doesn't sound like the Red Wings have any interest in him. "I talked to his agent once but right now we're doing nothing," said general manager Ken Holland in regards to Semin. Semin is probably asking way too much, simple as that.

Even more despised = even better. No one fears playing the Red Wings any more. This will be a great improvement. I see Tootoo being more similar to Kocer than Maltby. -
I've actually had the thought that Holland might be waiting for the new CBA before signing, but he wouldn't have gone after the Minnie Twins if that were the case. Whether or not the cap is adjusted, the fact that the players know that they can get these kind of contracts has done the most damage. I don't really want to see a dollar amount on what a player can make but the term should be limited to somewhere around 7 years.

Do some of you think we are talking about Alexander Nadulov instead of Alexander Semin? Radulov sucks & all the pundits make Semin sound as bad as him. That's BS. Except for his first season (52GP/22Pts) Semin has been at least a 1/2 point/game guy, with most of his seasons being closer to 1pt/gm or higher. He's also been a plus in +/- for his last 5 seasons. Doesn't sound that lazy. I'm more concerned about his nit-picky injuries than laziness, especially with a potential pairing with Pavel. http://sports.yahoo....dKGRYwxbZ5ivLYF

Trade Flip in a package for Yandle. Yotes fold. Sign Flip as a FA!

Dear Mr. Holland: Forget about FA, trade for Yandle and Ryan
ElCapitan replied to YzermanRULES19's topic in General
This is the problem. ^ Waiting until next year is a crap shoot, and what Holland does this year can either free him to get a top tier FA next year or handcuff him. There's not a simple solution.- 61 replies

We can never be sure what's going on in a player's head when they make these decisions & Nash isn't the only one. I deeply respect loyalty, but if the company I worked for wasn't going to help me reach my personal goals and another company was, I'd really have a hard time staying. I really questioned Barry Sanders when re-upped with the Lions. I want the Lions to do well but it was a shame to waste that talent. It would have been amazing to see what he could have done on a contender.

ElCapitan replied to YzermanRULES19's topic in General
Speaking of the actual article: As much as I wanted Suter to come to Detroit, I find it refreshing that family & quality of life is coming before career. Of course it's easy to say when $ is not the issue, but holding priorities in proper perspective are important in life.- 61 replies

There's a lot of truth to this.
