My thoughts are not to not rent anyone. I say the Wings better turn away from UFAs at the deadline unless moving a bad contract for them. Not like we really need the cap space next season.

I cannot believe they got out from underneath one of their two awful signings. Now if Kenny could do that to my four stooges on the team. I would be so happy. It seems as if he is going to be the scapegoat for the D and the one moved. His days are done now... and I somewhat see why. I really would move Sammy for anything. I would keep half his salary too in order to get the deal done. If the Wings aren't adding anything they should move as much as they can with out moving the futures and keep half the salary to squeek out more value.

Anyone who wants to trade Franzen is a fool. Fact is you will pay at least 1 million more for the same stats, and it is more like 2 million more. He isn't going to be the best guy ever, but he is a value contract.

I logged in just to complain about this... I know some might remember me being vocal on this. I got little problem with the idea... but why must they make 8 and 7 team conferences?!?!? that just isn't fair. Why not just move Detroit East if you are going to do that? I just don't get that crap at all. If the only change they made was moving Detroit east then the playoffs won't be ruined and no one has a statistically worse chance of making the playoffs. The only people screwed are Columbus and they don't deserve anything anyways. I am again tweeting with the #moveDetroitEast and #nounbalancedconferences tags. I want to see us play boston Mon Ott and TOR more... but I don't want us missing the playoffs because we have to play against 8 teams instead of 7... that is bulls***.

With every passing day I hate this signing more. With every passing post trying to tell me this was a good move, I respect the Hockey IQ of this fan base less. If semin goes to pitts... then I have lost all faith in Holland. This isn't to say that I am being sensational... just how often can you get a need filler guy on special. Eff the risk. He has speed, a shot, and can play two ways. He is available on special be due to overblown reports of his ethics. He is just following Ovie, which btw he plays better defense than and his offense is upper class. Holland cannot sell to me Sammy, Tootoo, and even Doan are enough to fix the team. I wanted Suter, Doan, Semin... Would settle for Doan, Semin, Roszival and even overlook the two bad deals. Those suggesting that adding Doan and Semin won't fix our defense. You are overblowing the state of our defense. We have Four guys that should be top four guys, one that is expected to eventually be a top four guy and a first round pick to round it out. We could use more proven talent on the top... but that is a luxury that we had for a long time. Get over it and see what we have before we go chasing luxuries. A seventh or sixth guy is fine enough. The team defense was good last year and relied heavily on E, not Lidstrom. Based this on the actual time on ice. True Stuart was also a big part of that... but we just have to see if people step up and address what we need later. We won't replace Lidstrom, let alone in one year. Even if we got Suter. I won't suggest we ***** about something we can't fix properly. WE STILL NEED OFFENSE. That was our issue, lack of a sniper was something we wanted at the deadline. Semin was that. I argued we needed guys to chase the puck and fight for it. Semin fits that, as well does Doan. We needed dirty parts of the ice guys, guys that go to the hard real estate. Doan is that. The Wings need both to fix our offense from last year. Get both and we have a championship cailber offense with spare parts. That can also help if we need to trade later by giving us extra to let go. Even better... Semin and Doan can be had for the cap room of Nash plus Tootoo. It would be cap friendly over the short term. In the end, this offseason has made our cap situation worse over the medium term and did not fix our forward situation but made it worse. The Defense got worse, so we need to compensate anyways necessary. I know you all are demanding D... but there is no way to do it as of right now. Letting Semin slip through your fingers when there is so little in terms of risk... and letting him go to a rival... is FOOLISH. Worse than that, it is negligent. I want Holland to retire, but I would force it if he misses on Semin and Doan. I will be upset if he misses on either, but both requires action. I would rather let Nill sit and wait for the youngsters to come up and see what he can do.

Last time I checked the Pens had 10 million... $10,541,667 to be exact... via capgeek Doan and Semin could be gotten for that ball park. I heard Pitt was offering around 4.5 to Semin. Just saying... don't count on it taking them out of the running. Also I get the feeling that Doan would rather go to Pitt or LA... Getting Semin would help us get Doan in my mind by showing him we are serious about winning NOW. I think this is the worst offseason of all Modern Wings history because we have painted ourselves into a corner with betting the wrong way, and taking huge risks on low reward players while fearing to take huge risks on high reward players. It feels like Holland is ready to bet everything on a blind hand of poker. This is totally unlike anything I have ever experienced with this management group. It isn't like them to take risks unless the payout is a cup. It seems all the plans after Suter/Parise are big risk low reward... Save Doan/Semin which are high risk and high reward. I don't think Doan/Semin get us a cup... but they keep us close to where we were... and allow us the chance to address our problems in the next 18 months to get cup ready. In the end though... the team suffers the same fate. You are right, but the team does suffer with these results. That falls on him.

I watch them, they are not scrubs. Three guys are bonafide top six guys, and one more is likely a top six guy. On defense there is one for sure guy that is top four, and at least one that is likely a top four. I consider at least two more of the d for sure NHL guys, and at least two for sure NHL guys at forward. That doesn't sound like a ton... but you don't trade them. Why? Because if you looked at what is going on in the NHL... there is no one in FA because people will lock up their own. We were betting on Free agents for two years and there are almost none to sign. You are wrong to think our farm is crap. It isn't the best in the world, and it doesn't have many sure things... but it is far from the worst and you people keep thinking there isn't stars in the system. Remember this... Hudler got paid and was the 8th ranked FA this year in the UFA pool... If you think they should trade people just remember what we are setting ourselves up for... Also, people sleeping on Semin because he is lazy are borderline delusional. He isn't a Datsyuk or Doan in terms of effort and consistency... but he is an amazing player. He rivaled Ovie for the best player on the team many times, and bested him consistently in defensive play. That combined with speed makes him an excellent addition at the right price.

Hard to say because you don't know who makes the team. It isn't as bad as everyone thinks, but there will be at least a 7th dman added and it sounds like Doan or Semin are possible. I am thinking of starting a devils advocate blog to just point out the opposite opinions of everyone when it comes to the Wings. Here is one taste. This team doesn't need a big trade or a big signing at this point. There are enough top six forwards and top four defensemen on the team already... just need the right chemistry and team system. The power play was awful last year and so was the offense. A new coach helps that.

I will be mad if the Wings make a trade. There is no one I want to give up from the farm or team save the worthless ones. People shouldn't panic, the team shouldn't overpay. They will be fine and Smith/Kindl will work as fine as anyone. We won't replace Lidstrom this way but that wasn't going to happen anyways. This was the worst offseason of the cap era without a doubt. I don't care about not getting Parise, but Suter hurts. I wanted Weber more than all three of them so I hope they SIGN him next year without a trade. The farm is too good to touch.Keep signing bodies for compettion but don't overpay anyone. I would love to see us sign Muller, Semin, Rozsival, Carle, all to short term deals and hopefully they win jobs without costing us anyone. Trade roster players if need be, but leave the farm alone. The best part would be if we brought in more people we can bounce Tootoo to GR and let him rot.

Tootoo sucks ass and half the people in here aref****** morons who know nothing about hockey. He isn't good by any measurement and he is the type of player I NEVER want on my team. Then they gave him a contract that is too big in term and money. He was a healthy scratch for Nashville and worse than everyone on our team and many players of ours in the system. He isn't good defensively, not good offensively, doesn't fight for pucks, doesn't hit well, doesn't pass well, doesn't score, he doesn't play gritty, he is only dirty. That doesn't win you games, check Avery who is the same type of player, except he had some skill. It is far more likely he does something stupid and someone retaliates on Pavel or someone. The guy was so worthless he never helped the Preds beat us... Last year he was a healthy scratch for them half the games. I look it at this way... You could have tried for Doan with the money spent on Sam and Tootoo... you could have signed an enforcer for less... or you could have just let the youngsters play with contracts that are half as much as him. Miller, Emmerton, Mursak, Eaves, and Jokaim are all better than Tootoo. I know half of the people around think this is some sort of grand signing that indicates that we will be a tougher team. Toughness isn't something measured in hits or fights. It is winning battles for the puck and taking hits and crosschecks going to the tough parts of the ice for loose pucks and goals. The Wings were lacking in this, and still are after wasting 4.9 million yesterday. If these were one year contracts I would ***** about them but I would live with them. These might screw us over in the long term as well. Just hypothetically, if Weber was available next year and Suter signs here... do you think they could get Weber with 7 million wrapped up in Bertuzzi, Sammy, and Tootoo?!?!? No way in hell. Yet if they didn't sign them to awful contracts prematurely, there would be a chance to bring in Weber and have guys like Tatar, Jurco, and Jarnkrok play for 900k a piece instead. The time is here for youth, yet three guys are signed that block the way. I never liked any of these guys, and certainly don't at this price.
