A positive to take away, Vanek was noticeable all game, even in the 3rd when everyone else was starting to sleep. Couple goals and showed a lot of drive. Yeah, that's all I got. -

woo two fights, almost met last season's total already. -
Awesome, it's very familiar with enough improvements to make it feel fresh and current. Great job on this Matt.

I miss all the good stuff.. I don't see why someone in defensive need like Boston or New Jersey wouldn't grab him up before the start of the year. He's not the worst option out there.

I left off last night at a 297, so i'm getting close. I just got back into Destiny about a week ago and where I had left off I was a 28 so it's been an uphill battle trying to get my Titan back up to elite level. It's coming along, a lot of Crucible and some friends of mine have carried me through tougher strikes. I'm still in search of a nice trusty Hand Cannon which has been my go-to since the beginning, although i'm taking a bit more liking to Scout Rifles since it's what i've had to use here lately.

Back to Destiny for The Taken King expansion. They made this game so much better on so many levels with this update, i'm hooked right back in.

Nope, I haven't vacationed in a long time. The person below me is playing the NHL 17 beta on either PC or Consoles

Congrats on the healthy baby girl!

Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion
MabusIncarnate replied to kickazz's topic in General
It's always really tough for me in debates like this because we haven't seen a lot of the guys who have received the honors. I surely didn't watch Gordie play 20+ full seasons, Or a full season for half of the other names hanging in the rafters. What truly makes a legend worthy of being permanently enshrined in team history that no other player can wear their number again? I've been watching since about 1989-1990 when I was old enough to really follow and enjoy the sport. There are two absolutely firm, undeniable champions of this team, and they were Yzerman and Lidstrom. If I am going to war, I want Yzerman as my General. If we are being invaded, I want Lidstrom on the front lines of defense. Both guys, for me, were slam dunks and unquestionable. I'm not sure I feel that way about any of the 4 in debate in this thread, but if there were one, the most impactful, the most statistically superior and significant, it would be Osgood. You also need to consider that you are stacking one goalie against 18 skaters on each team, and the rarity of having a goaltender outshine the other 18 players on the ice is uncommon. 30 starting goalies compared to 540 skaters each season (obviously not considering call-ups, injuries, changes in starting roles, etc.) My point being, it's a bigger feat to be a difference maker in net compared to being a difference maker as a skater. In the record books, for wins, playoff wins, if there is a true Red Wing goaltender in the entire history of the team, as both an onlooker looking at the statistics, and a fan of the team that witnessed the accomplishments, he is the 2nd greatest Red Wings goaltender in the history of this team. He wasn't flashy, he had his bad moments (and awful ones) but who hasn't? Do I personally think he deserves it? Yes. Will he receive the honor? I truly don't know. A case can be made for all 4 of these players. -

I'd give my opinion on Hasek vs Roy vs Brodeur but Puckloo might call to have me lynched. I couldn't vote because solely Osgood wasn't an option. I wasn't even a big fan of the guy, but it's very hard to deny the numbers he put up for the team as a whole, and it's about individual team effort, heart, and contribution that puts you among the legends in the rafters. -
I live about 45 minutes from Nashville, for the fans and the community, be it a seemingly small one, I hope he does well here and it draws more fans to the sport. It may even get me out to my first Preds game, I've lived here 3 years, maybe it's about time. I'm personally a big fan of the guy, he has a big heart, a big personality, and was overwhelmingly charitable for his community when playing in Montreal. He's good for the sport, plain and simple. I hope he's well received in Tennessee.

Take the genre of film, and pick what hockey player you feel like would fit right in a role in these kinds of movies. Science Fiction - Pavel Datsyuk Has an almond shaped head, looks alien-like in appearance. Skill level is extraterrestrial. I could see him as a green skinned visitor from another world. Western - Mike Fisher Put a cowboy hat on him and you wouldn't have to do much more. He looks like he was born to play the role of a rough and tough cowboy in an old West action film. Comedy - Jiri Hudler What better guy to be in a comedy that not only looks the part, but has the nickname "Happy Hudler" that associates him with his demeanor? Horror - Scott Hartnell He's ugly, scary ugly. Could fit into roles as the creepy slasher, or a bit of makeup and become a monster or a mutant. A face like that is made for terror. Romance - Henrik Lundquist He looks like he should be in a Nicholas Sparks film, not tending the net in New York. General consensus of many females is he's "dreamy" including my wife. Drama - Alex Semin You don't know what you are gonna get with this guy, there is so much on again, off again, with negative press and the constant center of any team's problems. Ideal Drama candidate. Action/Thriller - Matt Martin Proven time and time again that he's a force, plays strong, fights hard, and has the vibe of an action star that would have a presence and will to kick ass and blow stuff up for 90 minutes. Feel free to add genres as you see fit as well. Something to burn the time for a few days before we get our Wings hockey back.

Who do you have as the top 5 Wings of all time..
MabusIncarnate replied to shocky2002's topic in General
I agree with most of this, but i'm also putting into consideration the team that Fedorov was around, compared to Datsyuk, especially in these later years. Fedorov thrived in a cap-free league with a lot of elite players around him. He also eventually moved on to a different NHL team whereas Datsyuk was a career Red Wing. It's tough as a fan of both players, but I liked Datsyuk more overall and I think that sways my decision a bit also. -

On topic..my list is as follows. 1) Howe 2) Yzerman 3) Lidstrom 4) Sawchuk 5) Datsyuk I'm torn between Datsyuk and Fedorov, I think I give Dats the edge for having the more complete all around game, but it's a difficult choice. And for the record, Howe not making a list is borderline criminal. You can't entirely discredit a legend of the sport due to the time period he played in. -

Opinions are opinions, but personal attacks and name calling is against site rules. We are teetering on the line here, i'm not going to edit anything, but keep it toned down and contribute intelligently. If your best rebuttal is "your opinion is stupid because I said so", or referring to someone's post as "stupid" or "garbage" then just refrain from posting altogether. This is considered "trolling" or intentionally trying to stir people up needlessly. Keep it in line. Thanks. -
Signed Steve Ott signs 1 year, $800k deal with Detroit

Most likely i'd think he gets the Tootoo treatment unfortunately. I'd like to see him settle on our 4th line and add some grit to this roster. -
Signed Steve Ott signs 1 year, $800k deal with Detroit

Not gonna lie, i'm pumped. Always loved to hate Ott, he isn't entirely incapable of producing. He punches people. I'm good with this signing, especially at the price. -

At the time, they, and the rest of the hockey world, thought Stamkos was going to be available, which they clearly stated multiple times that they would make a hard push to sign him. It didn't work out that way, the cap was still dumped and we were able to sign one of the top available Centers because of it. You can't expect them to predict the future and know that Stamkos would re-sign with Tampa. Regardless, dumping Datsyuk's cap wasn't a bad move with or without Stamkos. -

I'm a fan of Matt Martin. It would be great to have a guy like that, even if we have a dismal season, at least he punches people in the face. That's something to cheer about. -

Merged both of our Offseason threads, not sure why there were two. We can keep it all consolidated here. Carry on.
