Nothing substitutes hockey. Absolutely nothing. I may be American but my national pasttime is not football or baseball. It's hockey. This whole lockout is an absolute joke. Bettman, Daly, and Fehr should all be fired. You knew it was a bad omen when the nhl works out a realignment and Daly comes on the tv and says it's off purely for the nhl to have leverage in bargaining. I don't want to lose a single pre season game, but I can't handle another completely lost season.

Exactly as the title says, I've always been interested in learning about the evolution of the game and i know a minute amount of facts from the early days of hockey and its development and growth in Canada and North America. Can anyone recommend a good book or documentary online that talks about the actual evolution of the game itself and the culture surrounding it in detail? I'd love to learn more! I've come across a few web pages online and I know of CBC's documentary from like 6 years ago, but maybe I'll get lucky and find out more and better information! For example, one of the original rules of hockey out of Halifax (there was two major "schools" of hockey very early on, one in Montreal and in Halifax), was that you could not pass the puck/wood block forward -- only side to side or backwards to advance your team. thanks everybody

Holland's big move. but no seriously i guess its good to retain a defenseman after losing Lidstrom and Stuart but I really don't see anything what makes Quincey stand out in any sense of the term. Granted he's probably more of a stay at home defenseman more than anything else.

I also saw a paraphrase that Howson( Columbus) isn't looking for first line players..Holland needs to be ALL over this moreso than Suter and Parise. Nash has added us to his short list when we weren't on it in the beginning. Read between the lines Holland, it may actually be possible to land a guy who is a hockey STUD who really does have legitimate 50 goal capability. Please Kenny, Please go get this guy.
