Volunteering is for suckers; did you know that so-called "volunteers" don't even get paid?

What a waste of time. Why would someone do something without getting paid? Out of the goodness of their hearts? Pfft.

*lassos Lizz into the loop* :D

[long, dull story] So I am staying at a house owned by four of my friends. I brought $20+ worth of paper items, like paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, etc., and a few food items like cereal and mac n' cheese. Also, I spent a good chunk of time Friday and Saturday helping them clean and move stuff in and I offer to help all the time. Then they went and bought food for their house. So today I asked what was for dinner, and my friend starts talking about how expensive it is to feed everyone (some people ate over yesterday so this might not have been directed at me) and I made a joke about trying not to eat them out of their house (I like to eat) and she made a point of emphasizing that it is THEIR food not just hers, and I was like.... I said that. So now, as a guest, I feel kind of awkward. I have made it a point to mostly eat the food I brought, and I feel that my contributions should balance out anything I eat of theirs. I HATE money type sitations where people start nitpicking about what belongs to whom without actually drawing the line, and it would be more awkward if I ask for clarification. So I am thinking I will either have to go to the store and buy food for myself or go anorexic rather than step on anyone's toes. [/excessive rambling]

Kudos to anyone who read that whole mess lol.

My feeling is, if your bringing stuff to the house, and as long as you aren't as you put it "eating them out of their house", they really shouldnt have a problem. Its sounds to me like your helpful to have around, so its not like your leeching off them. Regardless, I share your hate for situations like that. I also hate when I dont have a job, yet my mom still provides me with money. I never want to spend what she gives me, because I am currently looking for a job, and kinda feel akward spending her money.

Anyway, Earlier today, I was Wikipediaing (not a word, but who cares) and I worked myself to a page about Charles Manson, and I knew about the murders and what not, vaguely atleast, so, intrigued I read the whole page. Now, keep in mind, stuff like this is interesting to me. Its not that I have no remorse for the people who were tragically killed in crimes and such, but I have such a hard time believing anyone could commit such horrid acts (such as stabbing someone 51 times!), that it almost intersests me. Anyway, I wanted to find out more about Charles Manson, so I watched interviews with him on Youtube. IMO the man is a smart, crazy SOB to say the least, and he is where he should be for the rest of his life, but I found it funny that at the heart of all the s*** he is, he is a hippie. After everything he said he was like "ya dig?" I kinda found that humorous. Regardless, I also kinda find it interesting that no one ever knows EXACTLY what happened at crime scenes unless they were the victims, or the ones who were committing the crime. I mean, judging from Manson, he flipped back and forth (like a politician almost) about what happened/ what he was involved in, so no one really ever knows the truth, which is just as sad as it is interesting to me.

Sorry. Its not like I am obsessed with death or crime or what not, I am just intrigued by what is going through these peoples minds when they are committing these crazily horrific acts. I should probably major in criminology, but alas, accounting it is :P

You should read Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi and Curt Gentry.

In the interview I watched with him, they were asking him about a book that his prisonmate wrote about everything Manson told him. I would actually love to read either one of those books (Helter Skelter, or the other one). I wonder if the public library will have it?
