Detroit Pistons (& NBA) Playoff Thread

Detroit starts its Playoff campaign tomorrow at the Palace against Milwaukee. I'm extremely confident we can destroy the Bucks; they shouldn’t pose much of a threat.

In other news, the Heat just came through with a win against the Bulls; however they weren’t very convincing at all.

i turned on that heat game expecting a blowout, i was shocked to see the bulls making that game close. If Miami isn't careful, bulls are a hard working team that could sneek out some wins against this Heat.

Anyone else think these playoffs are messed up?? Pistons go sometimes 3 days before they play again...wayyyyy too long. Also, how is it that dallas as the 4 plays the 5 memphis in dallas...but 3 denver GOES TO the 6 clippers and gives the clip the home court advantage. Somehow, that doesnt seem right.

Miami isn't making it past New Jersey next round. I'll be at the game tonight, two rows up behind the backboard (for only a half or the whole game, not sure as my parents are really ***) so look for me, be wearing my white Chauncey jersey.

They are going to destroy the Bucks though, not gonna go past 4 games most likely.

After watching the best player intro in sports I am ready to see the Pistons clobber the Bucks.

So I was right behind the big fireball machine thing and you can feel the blasts of heat coming off it, was so sweet. And the big bang when Ben comes out and both of the fireballs go off is LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDD. But yea, the Intro definitely gives you shivers down your spine especially when you are 20 feet away from them. That place gets so loud you can barely hear yourself think, my mom and dad were sitting in the upper bowl and they said it was so loud up there and they didn't even want to know how loud it gets down on the floor.

Awesome game though, anyone that watched the game catch me on it?

That's awesome that you got to the first game of the Playoffs. Well the game was tight at half time but the Pistons were always in control. Rasheed played great, Ben grabbed 17 rebounds and McDyess was good off the bench. Unfortunately the game wasn't televised and I don’t think I’ll get to see much of this series. I have so much confidence in the Pistons, there’s no let downs, they come out hard every night.

Yeah, after the mediocrity displayed by the Wings earlier in the afternoon, it was nice to watch the Pistons dismantle the Bucks. The team looked sharp, and there wasn't much to critisize out there. Of course, the bucks aren't the spurs, so we'll see how they do when they hit a real contender.

Yea I saw that and just started shaking my head. That dude could be so dominant in the NBA, it's too bad he has more than one mental problem.

In a way I'm glad the NBA Playoffs aren't like the NHL version. I know I won't have to worry about any 'trap' or intensity letdowns; I can just sit back and enjoy one of the best 'TEAMS' professional sports has to offer.

the problem i have with the NBA playoffs system is the way they position the teams. The two best teams in the western conference are NOT going to play in the western conference finals. Spurs and Mavs are locked and look to play each other next series, regardless of what else happens. Also, I love how denver got screwed by having the 3rd seed in the west yet open up on the road in LA. Nice. But the East is ok.

That was the loudest that I've ever heard the first blast of fire be last night. Then the intense burst of heat, such an amazing start. I like going to games, but can't stand watching basketball on tv... back and forth... score... back and forth... score... repeat...

Yet another ho-hum victory for the Stones

Oh, and the way our bench is playing, yea, ummmm, I think it would be safe to say that we would sweep every series.

The Pistons scored 92 points last night.

In the first three quarters.

Good Lord. "Milwaukee" must be the Native American word for "formality". This could be a best-of-25 and I think the Pistons would still sweep. Among the highlights:

- Lindsey Hunter picking the pocket of Maurice Williams, posterizing Williams with a dish to Tayshaun for the all-alone slam to put the Pistons up by like 17....and somehow, Williams was jawing at Hunter afterwards like he had anything to say.

- Chauncey drives on a fast-break against three Bucks, every single one of whom collapses on the basket, allowing Chauncey to pull up and calmly sink a three with nobody within 20 feet to stop him.

Something tells me Rip will have plenty of opportunity to rest that ankle of his.

Yeh I don't think there will be any other result that the Pistons in 4. The Bucks just don't compare to the Pistons. In other series, the Spurs were very lucky to win Game 2; they managed to come through in OT. The Pacers won Game 3 today and have taken a 2-1 series lead. I am surprised by this; I assumed the Nets would advance. I still believe they will.

And the best news is that Game 3 between the Pistons and Bucks will be televised live in Australia.

Odds are the Spurs will still win the series. BUT Sacremento has played them TOUGH the last two games and really should be up in their series 2-1.

Chicago has a chance for an upset as well

It would be nice if the Bucks would miss a shot. Shooting some 75% from the 3 point line.

They sold their soul to the devil, the only explanation. I've never seen a team make this many consecutive shots. It's sick. *edit* 68% from the arc and 59% from the field right now...10 consecutive shots made and the last one was just in and out.

This is the most frustrating game I have ever seen. We set a franchise record for wins and the one game I see we get destroyed. Milwaukee hasn’t missed a shot! For crying out loud they hit ten consecutive shots in the third quarter, and Tony "Dud" Kukoc came off the bench and just exploded, that just sums up the game. And Michael Redd hit everything, while at the other end we couldn't hit a shot to save ourselves. The most uninspired game I have seen. I’m not the least bit worried about the outcome of the series but seriously, they better lift their game in Game 4.
