Detroit Pistons (& NBA) Playoff Thread

Oh and Flip needs to go, he can't get the job done in the Playoffs (26-37 record) and the players don't respect him. When you lose the respect of the players it’s as good as over.

I wasn't all that thrilled when Flip came in to replace L.B. But he was a pleasant surprise in the regular season. I don't like alot of his coaching decisions in the playoffs, but after listening to Barkley last night I have to agree with him. During the season the players were quick to praise him, ecstatic about their new-found offensive freedom. Glad he gave them more control over the game - 64 wins and everything was rosey. Now that they are losing, it's all on the coach. None of these guys has taken responsibility for their dismal on court display. Like I said, I wasn't a big Saunders fan to begin with, and I too have been quick to jump on him after a few of these losses, but I admit he is getting the bad end of the stick.

Hopefully something clicks tonight and they get a big win. The fans deserve a series.

Well the Pistons pulled one out tonight. Heat still up 3-2.

Great game by Prince and Ben Wallace.

More poor shooting from Billups and Hamilton, although they helped out in other areas (Billups 10 assists).

Rasheed has been absent this whole series.

Mcdyess was good off the bench.

Game 6 at Miami will be extremely tough - they can't expect Prince to keep carrying them. I give them a shot - but not a good one- Miami is not Cleveland.

At least they showed up and won a game instead of rolling over.

If they'd only taken one of the two in Miami.

(was I the only one watching tonight?) :lookaround:

Nope mate I also watched the game. Prince was outstanding, what a great individual performance. Once again he was our leader on the offensive end. Ben was brilliant on defence tonight, what about the block on Shaq that led to a jump ball! :yowza: That's what has been missing the entire series, shot blocking. We were much better in that area last night. Hamilton and Billups can’t seem to find any rhythm on offence, can’t continue if we are to win the series. I’ve given up on Rasheed, he doesn’t want to be out there.

Also Lindsay Hunter was just awesome last night; his hands are the quickest in the business. McDyess was also extremely good off the bench.

Well they did it. I thought overall they played good. We made some dumb mistakes here and there, but we got the job done. Ben brought some big time energy, and Prince played great. If we can squek out a win somehow in Miami we will win this series.

And they need to swallow their pride and smack the everloving crap out of Shaq every time he goes in the air with the ball. Just go hard HARD HARD after the ball when he has it and not worry about whether or not you foul him. That's not Hack-A-Shaq, it's called Not Letting Shaq Get Any Easy Ones.

See?? SEE?!?

Right after I say Don't Let Shaq Throw Down, Ben takes my advice, the Pistons play the aggressive defense they made their name on, and the Heat wither.

I still don't like being down 3-2. But Wade's crazy if he thinks there's no pressure on the Heat. Nothing would fire up the Palace crowd and most importantly, Rasheed, by going back to Detroit for The Big Game Seven with all the momentum.

The Diesel is going for 40+ tonight. He knows how to close in style.

Yeah, like the last two times he played Detroit in the playoffs?

Question: Are you just anti-Detroit teams when it doesn't concern the Red Wings?

Yeah this sucks. Down, what, 11? Well, I still think we can come back. It just isn't going to be easy.

GO PISTONS GO.

i cant even believe how bad the pistons are. they play like they don't care, they can't hit a shot to save their lives, and its all gonna end. ive never seen a team struggle for so long with hitting simple shots.

4 conference finals in a row, they're not "bad" but they're defintely not playing good.

i know that theyre not a bad team, theyve accomplished so much over the past 4 years, but they are playing like crap right now.

well the season is over. poor shooting did the team in. extremely dissapointing.

OK that was so ugly I had to turn it off after the third quarter. Abysmal, embarassing, stunning....

Worst offensive performance I've witnessed by this bunch since they've been together. OK so RIP had 30+. But never has more than one of them brought it for a single game. WTF happened to Billups? Did he get kidnapped by aliens and this is an imposter? :scared: The worst part of it is - the Heat were very beatable this series. They deserved to win, don't get me wrong, but with Wade basically a non-factor tonight - the Pistons still couldn't muster a thing. So um, I thought Flip was going to be an offensive minded coach? No O at all - Zip. I don't want to blame everything on him - but wtf was going on out there? Oh well, should be interesting to see if this team implodes in the off-season, or if they make another run at it....? I've generally enjoyed this bunch of characters for the last several years. Esp since the Wings have been ousted early, I've had the Pistons going to at least the ECF for the last 4, so I shouldn't complain. I liked the "underdog" Pistons more than the cocky crew they've become. Just hate to go out like this - at least go out swinging.... :(

Okay, I hear you. In a way. I can't believe you turned the game off after the 3rd!!!!!!!!!!

I was right with the boys till the end.

But anyway....Wade was fine. This is a classic act. He never was sick. They want the Pistons to break up thier team.

This is my opinion of course...figure it out yourself what I am saying. okay?

Shaq wants to be remmbered for his Rings, like the big boys of the NBA. Rielly and Shaq are on the same page. The last thing they need in thier way is our Pistons team. (Next year/two) stopping them.

Anyway, that is my conspiriciy theory!

That was shattering, just awful. I couldn't watch, where was the offence? They couldn't make a shot, just horrible.

Sad to see the team look as though they didn't even care, but that's sure how it seemed.

See the pistons thought that the nba changed the rules to where if you don't make baskets you win. If that was the case we would have clinched the title a month ago!
