Heaton 1 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 He's a ufa...love the kid. Discuss your thoughts on him I like him, he'd fit in here, but I see him staying in Buffalo, he has great chemistry with that team.
Hatcher#2 13 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 (edited) I would take him, he has great size, a tremendous work ethic and he would definately fit in here, especially since he is from Detroit. How much money is he looking for? Edited June 17, 2006 by Hatcher#
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Not sure if there's any room for another checking line player on the Red Wings. Perhaps if Maltby is traded.

RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Don't re-sign Cleary and that would make some room. True, but Detroit would lose some speed. I'd rather trade Maltby, since Grier isn't exactly a speedster.
Rice 42 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 I'd love to see Grier here. Werent the Wings rumored to be interested him back when they dealt for Lang?

Not that I recall, but I remember that several posters around here including myself, were pulling for him.

Rice 42 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Why do so many people spell "Lidstrom" "Lindstrom"?
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted June 18, 2006 True, but Detroit would lose some speed. I'd rather trade Maltby, since Grier isn't exactly a speedster. You're confusing Grier with Laraque? He's a sabre-of course he has speed, they all do. And he had breakaways on several occasions in these playoffs.

swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 Grier is more physical than Draper, Maltby and Cleary combined. Dump Maltby for a pick. BLASPHEMY! I cant believe so many people are seriously considering "dumping" maltby. He is one of a kind on the PK and created some (albeit not a lot during the regular season) offense. I honestly think that cleary played his heart out during the waning games of the season, but he was not up to the skills of the rest of the team. We need someone who can be a physical force out there in the offensive side. Franzen is still quite new to the NHL so I think that with another season or so he will be a formidable hitter and playmaker. Im tired of watching the wings and yelling because the players are just not physical enough. I love the finesse players and the jaw-dropping plays that they make, but to go deep into the playoffs we need somone to punish the opposition up front, and behind. Cleary just couldn't cut it, but i did admire his spirit. anyone have any other ideas of who to fill his spot? Why do so many people spell "Lidstrom" "Lindstrom"? I am guilty of saying his name that way when i talk, too. its just easier to say (or yell at the top of your lungs when he drives it home )
CamNeely08 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 I remember when we got Luc Robitaille the press was asking him about his new teammates, he stated that Maltby was the #1 guy in the NHL that he and alot of other players hated, it was because he's just an incredible pest and makes you do dumb things. Malts is the man, we could replace Draper before Kirk, Draper is making over 2mil per year and what did he do last season? I'd take Grier but not in lieu of maltby.
