I heard alot about this kid last year and i know he made the grifs team. I looked up his stas and hes got a goal and couple assits but that's not always a good indicater of how a player is doing. So what's the scoop?

He had a 3 assist game against Philadelphia but besides that he's been almost invisible. However he is a + for the season so I really can't complain as he is just a rookie. I didn't expect him to jump in and lead the team in scoring or anything.

I actually think he has been playing pretty good. I haven't noticed him make any REAL bad mistakes, or take many dumb penalties. I think he is just starting to "gel" with the Griffs, and could really be quite an asset. I say give him some time, I think he looks better now, than some of our current guys did in their first year witht he Griffs.

Can someone who has some info or gets to see him play regularly give us an update on this kid.

I know he is still young BUT based on stats and recent scratches, is this a kid who is just not going to cut it at an AHL/NHL level or still too early to call? Obviously from his recent drop in ranking, lack of scoring, frequent scratches there are issues here....

What does he need to do to regain the scoring touch he had in the juniors????

Thanks in advance

It looks like we were right.

MCGRATH ASSIGNED TO TOLEDO

January 17, 2007 - GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday reassigned forward Evan McGrath from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the Toledo Storm of the ECHL.

The 21-year-old rookie has appeared in 33 games with the Griffins this season, totaling six points (3-3â€â€6) and 23 penalty minutes. His highlights have including netting three assists in a 6-2 win over Philadelphia in his seventh pro game on Oct. 28 and being recalled by the Red Wings on Nov. 17.

McGrath was Detroit’s second choice (128th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. During his 2005-06 campaign with Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League, he finished fifth in league scoring and led his team with career highs of 37 goals, 77 assists and 114 points, earning a spot in the OHL All-Star Game.

McGrath will be available to make his Toledo debut on Friday, when the Storm host the Cincinnati Cyclones in a 7:35 p.m. start at the Toledo Sports Arena.

Does the name Tomas Kopecky ring any bells? The same was said of him in the A.

I see he got called back as both Ellis and Hussey joined Langfeld on the Wings roster. Was interesting that camp invite Tardif got the call from GR's as well not sure he was signed by Wings but think they are keeping

a eye on him.

just adding to the story, both Hussey and Ellis returned to GR but the Griffs sent Mcgrath back to the Storm and kept Tardif up where he had a 1+1 game with the gwg and a star rating. Mcgrath had 2+1 back in Toledo so looks like he is getting some scoring back as well. Maybe we made the right call with this Coyote0106 eh?

Did McGrath play much in the one game against Rochester that he was called up for or was he pretty much a spectator to support the bench as a result of the Red Wing call ups.

The kid clearly still has his scoring touch he just needs to find it at the A level.

How long a trip is this to Toledo for him? If he keeps up his pace will they bring him back in a week or two or will they let him sit down their.

Sure would be nice to get that offense while in the Griffs jersey.

Think they'll keep him in Toledo for a while to get his game going. Looks like he has responded well to being sent down and this will be

a big plus for the Storm as well as himself.

He's putting a few points up and has multi point games too. Hopefully this will be

just what he needed not sure if GR will call him back or let his confidence grow

and keep him in Toledo. So far he has 6+9 from 9 games and is a +4. 5 of his goals

have come on the pp thou.
