Rice 42 Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Ottawa Sun Vaclav Prospal had a heart-to-heart chat with coach John Tortorella last week to try to keep the Bolts from trading him. That hasn't stopped talk that Tampa might ship him to the Windy City in a deal involving G Nikolai Khabibulin. Tampa continues to try to move LW Ruslan Fedotenko. The Flyers, Wings, Leafs and Canucks are interested. I'd like to see him here. He's a pretty big guy with a good scoring touch.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted February 4, 2007 Ruslan Fedotenko is being looked at by Detroit (e2), Edmonton (e1), and NJ (e1)." _Eklund Your thoughts?

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 I’ve always liked Fedotenko and I would love having him on this team. He’s still young, and as ARice said he’s got good size and is fine goal scorer.
metalwinger_13 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 plus there both fairly inexpensive and can be had for probably a low prospect or even a draft pick or two. i heard zednik could be had for a draft pick possibly.. but thats when he gets off his injury which i think is a groin injury
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Fedotenko, yeah sure. I don't find Zednik very interesting though. Too soft.
Barnes52 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 I'd still like to see another winger who plays with an edge come this way.
RyanBarnes! 293 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 ^^Absolutely, Fedotenko is not the answer to the Red Wings lack of physical play. He would be a step in the right direction though.

Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Fedetenko is a nice player. Not exactly the type who will engage in physical contests, but he does score goals and goes into high traffic areas. We'd still need somebody like lapointe, IMO.
Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2007 Fedotenko, yeah sure. I don't find Zednik very interesting though. Too soft. Zednik could be a low-risk, high reward type of player. He isn't consistent nor is he a good 2-way player, but he can score and he has been pretty good in the playoffs in certain years. His last few years in the playoffs (02, 04, 06): 21 games 9-7-

His last few years in the playoffs (02, 04, 06): 21 games 9-7-16 That's great and all, but to me he is more of what we've already got. He doesn't bring anything else to the table than offense and that makes me think he can easily disappear in the playoffs playing in Detroit. Fedotenko at least plays with a slight edge. Howe's Bony Elbow 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Yeah, Zednik's useless. Add Fedotenko and an actual scorer, then you might have something here. Holland did say he'd like to ass a couple of players: If he can come through with Fedotenko and, say, Guerin or Tkachuk, we'd look pretty good, but probably still not good enough to beat the Sharks. Henkka 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 I'd like to have Guerin, because he is very good right handed shooter. Tkachuck as left-hander wouldn't fit as well to our team.

I know that it's been mentioned before, but I would personally love to see Marty Lapointe back here. I think he would fit a Wings need perfectly, and he can probably be had fairly cheaply. I know he has one more year on his contract after this year. Anyone have any idea how much it's worth?

I think they could go all the way. i agree, both the canes and the oilers went to the finals because they addressed needs during the deadline. Teams that didn't (like us) we're eliminated. Everyone knows we're soft and we don't have a scoring winger, time to fix that.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted February 6, 2007 Fedotenko has big-game goalscoring potential (see 2004 SCF). Aquiring him and a guy like Lapointe or hell, even Chris Simon could be all the tinkering this team needs to at least win 2 rounds.

Aquiring him and a guy like Lapointe or hell, even Chris Simon could be all the tinkering this team needs to at least win 2 rounds. I don't think that Holland & Co. are shooting for success throughout just the first 2 rounds. I like the idea of aquiring someone like the three you mentioned above, but we still need to counter that aquisition with a PURE goalscorer. I just do not see one out there who is available and isn't being looked at by every other team. Guerin and Tkatchuk are not the guys to fill that role. I will be sick to my stomach if they pick up either of those 2 farts.
