Wings_Toledo 233 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 (edited) So I was playing NHL 07 today and somehow Jason Allison is leading the league in points in one of my dynasty games. Then I got to thinking, "wait, I haven't seen him on the Leafs this year." So what happened to him? Did he retire due to his injury problems or just trying to get healthy again? Not that I'd want us to acquire him in any sense, but just curious because I never heard any updates on him. Edited February 7, 2007 by Wings_Toledo
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 I thought he had issues with concussions, although I could be thinking of someone else.
Bliz 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 In a nutshell, he was never offered a contract that suited his tastes and chose to sit out. Bad move, in my opinion.

Rice 42 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 It was his skating deficiencies that scared teams away this summer. No one would offer as much as he wanted.

Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 there are rumors that the thrashers might sign him for the stretch run.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 I remember last year he was selected to go in a shootout. He was skating very slow, and ended up losing the puck or something. After that, Leafs fans found a quick hating for him. I always thought he was a good player, and actually was kinda hoping the Wings would sign him. He's been a pretty consistant scorer when he's healthy, and he's not really that old either. I don't know what'll happen with him.
Icer 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 The problem is he's never healthy. He missed most of 2003-04 and all of 2004-05 with neck and concussion problems and in 2005-06 he had hand surgery and was out for the rest of the season. He's only played 92 games in the last 5 years.

58Miles2Joe 12 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Here's some old snippets on him: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...=NHL&id=434 Then from the Toronto Star from 1/27 SLOW-MOVING RUMOUR: Finally, there were a lot of rumours floating at the all-star game. Here's one regarding the Leafs that didn't make the rounds: Jason Allison, who has not played yet this season, returning to the Leafs to cover the loss of centres Mike Peca and Kyle Wellwood. Hank 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 (edited) I remember last year he was selected to go in a shootout. Jason Allison was the perfect, prototypical forward in the OLD NHL where clutching and grabbing reigned supreme. Because he was so big and strong he could fight through the forest of arms and sticks while others were slowed up to his speed. Last season, because everything was so wide open, Jason Allison floundered due to his top speed being slightly better than a tree. I believe over 60% of his points last year were on the PP. During 5-on-5 it was almost embarassing watching him struggle out there. If he did indeed sign with the Thrashers he would be better suited to play like a centre in the old table hockey game. Simply stay up as far as you can. The fact that this tool is still sitting out for a reported $2-3 million contract tells you how delusional he is about his worth. It also speaks volumes when teams like Calgary, Vancouver, the Rangers and Atlanta (among others) have neglected to go after him despite desperatly needing a 2nd line centre. I'm sure that some of them did contact him, but anything over $1 million is overpaying for this breathing pile of molasses. If Ken Holland even thought about signing this bum I would personally hunt him down and dropkick his colon into oblivion.
