There's so much "correlation != causation" all over this I can't make heads or tails of it. I'm pretty indifferent on the subject also. But here's why I brought it up: The presence of Derian Hatcher on the roster, and a hobbled version of him at that, did not prevent the Wings from advancing to the second round of the playoffs. We can argue about causal relationships, and that's fine. But when people here bring up the notion that you can't afford to have players who aren't super skilled on the roster, points like this are sometimes overlooked. But it's one thing just to say that, quite another to try and imply anything because we haven't won a playoff round without him, post Bowman. You could just as easily say the same thing about Ray Whitney, you know what I mean? We didn't lean heavily on either in our '04 series.
